EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

I know this question has been asked and answered many times, and I've read a number of old threads about it. But I'm hoping someone with experience can help us decide between GF RPC and SL for January 2015. It's part of a split stay with BWI CL. We'll stay at GF for a couple nights for our youngest son's birthday and then transfer to BWI CL for the rest of marathon weekend.

A few things about us:

1. We're a family of five - at time of travel, kids will be 8, 14 and 15.
2. My husband does not love Disney, so if he joins us, a club lounge that offers some peace and quiet will be key. Examples: He likes BWI CL and the WL lobby at 5am, but that's about it.
3. Our youngest son needs breaks from the parks in the afternoons and for various reasons, also benefits from a low-key, quiet lounge.
4. Our two older boys are hungry teens who are pretty much happy with any club lounge.
5. I do love a nice view, but not sure what the view from RPC will be with Poly construction, and I would prioritize my husband and son's need for a quiet spot over the view.

Thoughts? Advice? Thanks!

I think RPC matches what you're looking for. While I'm glad I tried SL, I found the lounge small and cramped with not enough seating to accommodate the amount of people that stay there. There are no views from the lounge as it's located in the center of the lobby of the SL building. With that said, RPC has a beautiful view of the courtyard pool. Plus the lounge is spacious with plenty of seating, some of which are located in quiet areas. The food offerings are the same in both, but IMO, RPC provides a more relaxing atmosphere with pretty views. Good luck with your decision.

So I booked a one night CL stay at WL on an AP discount at the beginning of our stay before our AKV/AKL CL.

Congrats on booking WL CL. It's amazing, I'm sure you'll love it!!

I am always late to the party....Lovely new CL thread Ericka! :thumbsup2

Hey MickeyNut Great GF CL info :goodvibes...although..you know after many stays..I am not more partial to one CL at the GF over the other...:confused3 lol...

I have three rooms reserved at CR March 8-13. Two of the rooms are Atrium CL the other is standard room(I think Bay Lake View). I have tried numerous times to get the third room changed to CL but nothing is available! Any suggestions? What are the odds we could upgrade at check in? Grasping at straws here:/

I was finally able to get the 3rd room Atrium Club TPV-at pass holder rate! For anyone in the same position just keep checking the MDE site. We leave in 3 days!!!

Thanks so much!!! Did you think the band/music in the main building was not as loud from some of the seating areas? When we've visited, it seems loud in the lobby, and that was my concern. But sounds like maybe it's different from the seating areas off to the side - does that sound right?

Yay!!! I agree. I had been trying to upgrade to a CL room with AP discount at Poly for the end of March for weeks - and a couple days ago, it popped up! So continuing to check really does work sometimes!! Have a great trip - we really enjoyed Atrium Club!!

Congrats on getting all rooms TPV CL :cool1:. Have a great trip :wizard:.

Everybody's perception is different, but I found the music relaxing from up in the lounge rather than loud. Sitting in the lounge is like being in a different world (IMO) as you can see and hear the hustle and bustle down below in the lobby, but it's calm and relaxing up on the 4th floor :cloud9:.

Wonderful - I really appreciate it! We'll watch discounts and aim for RPC!

SL doesn't really have a lounge. They have a food area and some seats but not a comfy cozy lounge you'd feel like hanging out in. RPC is going to be perfect for you husband, if he likes BWI CL he'll flip for it! I haven't stayed there in years, but I have been up to that level to visit friends from time to time... most recently last January... and it is sooooo relaxing and comfy. Plus in the evenings you get the live band music which is AWESOME!!! :goodvibes

I wouldn't let the Poly construction keep you away, I don't think it would deter from the amazing experience you'd get at the GF. To me there is no other resort on property who can come close to the luxury and grandeur ... I would stay there every single time if I could afford it! :thumbsup2 I love the smell wafting over from Basin, the gorgeous lobby, it is the best of the best!

22 days now! :). Double Magic Bands.

3 weeks and 1 day away!

.

Double club levels, nice! :thumbsup2 It will be fun to compare them back to back! We'll be at AKL CL 3/24 for seven nights... do we overlap???

You won't regret it....RPC is amazing and is a wonderful experience :goodvibes. Like TigrLvsPooh, I'd also stay there every time if I could afford it. Good luck and I hope you are able to get a great discount :wizard:.

Hi everyone! First of all, I want to thank everyone for all the awesome info! I've been reading everyone's posts because I've booked my first Club Level stay for December, and I'm so excited! We are staying RPC at the Grand Floridian!

Now for my question:
We booked back in December, and because we are not going until next December.....when should I either be looking to be contacted by IPO or when should I contact them for the first time? I do plan on asking them to make some of our dining reservations, but that's not until the end of May, so we've got a while. But I didn't want to wait until then and just spring it on the folks at IPO.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the advice!! Back to counting down the days! :yay:

Congrats on booking the GF :). You are going to love RPC, especially during the holidays. As far as IPO, I have always received a welcome email just a few days after I've booked, but if you haven't gotten anything, you can contact them at anytime ;).

Thanks for the info! I haven't heard a word, but I wonder if that's because I keep changing my reservation.....first we were AKL, then YC CL, then GF not club, then Sugar Loaf, then RPC, and last week I changed us yet again to RPC theme park view....

Lol, resort changer right here! ;-)

It seems like when I do a room only reservation and put down a 1 night deposit I always get my IPO email fast. Within a few days. But if I have an existing reservation and upgrade it to CL sometimes I never get an email. I'm not sure about packages... from the time you put down $200 to the first email... maybe someone else knows??

You're welcome :). LOL on resort changing. That could be why you haven't heard anything as I have read about people not being contacted by IPO when they've changed resorts and/or changed to a CL room from a different room category.

Packages work the same way (in my experience) as I have received an email just days after booking when I've done both a package and room only. Like you said, though, I think upgrading to CL after the original booking doesn't usually generate an email for some reason :confused3.
