DO TELL!! We're flying down to visit DL from Sept 29th to Oct 2nd. We are hitting the IN-N-OUT burger in Fullerton for lunch, before checking in at our hotel ( a tradition for our family). We are also planning on making a taxi ride to the Ruby's Diner and have dinner there one eve, because we love the food. Since we only have 2 1/2 days in the parks, plus the MHP party on Sept 30th, don't know who's going to wear out first...us or the kids:rotfl2::rotfl2:! Kids have never flown before, and won't know that we are going till day of departure. Evil MOM Strikes Again (insert evil laugh here!).:maleficen:maleficen:maleficen:earboy2:

How fun! What a great surprise!

The big one - the Mummers Day parade in Philly, on New Years day.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

Then they have St. Patty's Day parades.

And different towns sometimes have smaller parades for different things.

How fun!

What type of parades are held in your town/state/country?
Dallas
I think that there is a New Year's Day parade
Neiman Marcus - Adolphus Children's Christmas parade (Carol marched in this three years in a row)
other various times of year to numerous to count depending on where in the city you are.
And if the Mavs win the title, you can bet there will be a parade.

Rockwall
Homecoming
Christmas
4th of July

Here is another QOTD......

*What foods is your area known for? -(Something visitors and locals are able to consume there, and/or to bring home as a gift for themselves or others).

Our city does a Salmon Days festival with a huge salmon bake afterwards in Steveston on our Canada Day, July 1st. Steveston also does a Christmas parade, which our vintage firetruck goes in every year. As for foods, cranberries and blueberries are most popular here, but we have a variety of fresh produce grown in our area during the summer months.

I want to come to your town. Salmon-YUM-O! My sister visited Canada, and said that they had seen smoked salmon, but did not pick it up :( as well as salmon jerky. Out of all meats, and fish I prefer salmon.

Hershey Chocolate
TastyKake
Peeps
Hanover pretzels
Scrapple (if you live close enough and have a cooler)

In Philadelphia they have the cheese steaks (though can't really take them home)
Soft Pretzels

Sonic is pretty close to Disneyland...near the 91 Freeway...it should be easy to get a TAXI to take you there...or I can tell you how to get there by bus...:rotfl2: If you are going to the Ruby's Diner at Harbor..it is right down the street a bit..:3dglasses

Want to meet any locals while you are here? :rolleyes1 DH and I have APs and live 15 min. away..no pressure...just thought I would mention it...

I'd be interested in meeting you Eva, but I'm not exactly feeling warm and fuzzy towards the DIS these days. The trip is going to be, quick and jammed packed, so I'll see closer how I feel about things closer to the trip. I was flamed off the DIS DL board for a comment I made about American Chinese food. My tounge in cheek comments horrifically offended some of the members of the forum(and the racist comments some of them made royally made me mad, and the comments were inappropriate for the thread). After 5 days the FLAMES continue to burn on that forum and refuse to die a painless death. Remind me not to make you Americans mad. Sorry for the rant, but I worked hard to help keep the DL Halloweentime thread afloat, with tons of pics to help generated interest in it, and this is the thanks I got for all my work. As for the QOTD, with all the apts, school activities, and things we do as a family, it's hard to keep track of them all, and on rare occasions things do get missed by accident. We're all human, and even the best of us is prone to mistakes.

This is just to let everyone know that I'm not going to be chatting on any DIS forums in general for a while. The personal attacks I received on the DL board have gone too far, and am so mad that I can't in continue on a board that allows such attacks, and when I try to put a shot across the bow so to speak that I get my hand slapped, while others, whose comments were much worse than mine, got away with it.

I read the thread, Trish....and think you are over reacting.
You have to expect some fallout when you make such a broad statement like that.
I have to disagree with you too.

Sorry you feel that way.

Sometimes i get dates mixed up, but figure it out before the day comes, so i have never missed anything.

No i am not a picture taker, i let John do it. We store them on the computer, but we also have them backed up.

I don't know about the area but I would say tamales would be something that people buy to take home, also flour tortillas.

What is your most favorite type, and brand of cookies?
I like homemade snickerdoodles the best. As for storebought, if it has chocolate and nuts in it, it's a winner!

Have you been so busy, that you had gotten dates for certain events mixed up?
No, I'm pretty organized.

Pictures-are you a picture taker? How do you store your pictures?
I'm not a picture taker for the most part. I store them on my computer, on a flash drive (or whatever it's called) and hard copies. I'm starting to slowly make books of different occasions and can't wait till I get a scanner for my older pictures.
