No - daddy died in 2006 and John and i have no children, so no fathers day here.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Joe's died in 1984 but mine is still alive. We went over to my parent's house and had lunch. Both of our kids live out of town and were working today but Joe is on the phone now with James and Carol will be calling him soon. That's really all he wanted for Father's Day, just to talk to his kids.

We had a family reunion today, so my dad, uncle, and cousin's husband who were all fathers spent the day here with all of us. It was nice for my husband to have all three of his kids together on this day.

Thank you Susan.

Glad to hear that both your husbands had a nice day. :)

What book/magazine are you currently reading? If you aren't reading one at the moment, what was the last one you read?

The book I'm currently reading is Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. It's a lengthy one, 985 pages.

The last magazine I read was Oprah's June issue. I think that her magazine is a waste of time but since I paid for a two year issue, I guess I better read them. It only cost me $10 and thought it was a good deal at the time. I guess I should have read one of her magazines first. :rotfl:

I need to put a sticky note on my computer. I get to working and then heading out to run errands and forget about the QOTD.

Did you go to college? Where did you go?

/
No. I hated school, did not make sense to go to college.

I went to a local junior college for a couple of years. Then love blossomed and took care of that. I never went to a four year college to finish.

What type of wallet/billfold do you carry?

I use the kind of billfold that you could put your checkbook in but I don't. I like my dollar bills to lay flat.

This question may have been asked before but how did you celebrate your birthday when you were a child?

My mom always made us a cake that we got to pick out the flavor/icing. I had a couple of parties, mostly neighborhood kids (only girls). When I got up into junior high I had a couple of slumber parties.

Joe on the other hand, never celebrated his birthday when he was a child. His parents just didn't do it. They didn't have the money with seven kids and so they chose not to do it. Needless to say, birthdays are not a big deal to him and I have had to adjust.

My kids got parties, whether just family or friends or both.

My parents did not do parties and neither did John's, so birthdays were not something that was special.
That was until i turned 30, then i threw a party for myself. :teeth:
I also threw a 40th for John and then my own 40th, and when John turns 50 i will have another party.

I had a few parties as a child.

Birthdays are a bigger thing for my kids, and we have had a bunch of bigger parties, especially for their first birthdays.

Do you like to work in the yard? What kind of yard work do you do?

I like to mow the yard. We have an acre and a half so a riding lawnmower is a must. I like to piddle in the flower beds and vegetable garden. We are finally putting in flower beds across the front of the house and I'm so excited! The border is up but that's about it. It's too hot to plant anything. We'd have to spend a lot of time nursing whatever we planted along. The beds need to be prepared anyway and some Nandinas that I want to keep need to be dug up and stored away somewhere until I decide what to do with them.

Yes I do yard work. Trimming of branches, taking care of plants..... but I do not mow the lawn.
