My tree is a combination of old, new, handmade, and ornaments bought from vacations past. I've got a 7 ft fake white spruce tree I put up every year that's a hybird between the umbrella styed trees (which I absolutely hate with a passion) and the ones that you put the branches into manually. It's held up well over the years. I've got so many ornaments that I can't put them all up every year, so I pick out the ones that catch my eye or have special meaning and put them on the tree.

Our tree has all sorts of different types of ornaments on it - pictures of the kids, hallmark ones, homemade ones. I love any type of ornament! It's so funny, because several years ago a family friend gave us one of those pickle ornaments. I thought it was a little odd, but ds LOVES that ornament! He is all about pickles, so that is his favorite one. Now, I love it just as much as he does!

We usually put up all the ornaments I have collected over the years. My mom started giving me ornaments the year I was born, and has continued every year. I have also started that tradition with my own kids. They both have lots of ornaments. They love to go out after Christmas shopping and pick a few for their collections. I know they will love this when they get older- seeing all the things they thought were cool when they were little. :goodvibes

This year though, same as lats, we will do a black and white tree- Dh likes it and it does well with a 2 year old who likes to pull things off the tree and throw them...... and an extremely helpful 9 year old who wants to decorate on her own (she dropped the first ornament she touched last year.... after saying, look how careful I am! :rotfl:) I am afraid to put up my ornaments this year- maybe next year.... I do love my old ornaments so.

If someone were to buy me and ornament- I would say buy something different! I love weird and unique things. :thumbsup2

Pies, and ice cream.

Do you like to eat your pies by itself, or with ice cream? What is your favorite type of pie?

The only pie I eat with ice cream and it has to be vanilla is apple.

My favorite pie... apple for a fruit pie, coconut cream for a pudding pie.

It depends on the pie and my mood. I do like ice cream with apple pie or peach cobbler. My favorite pie at the moment is a strawberry icebox pie that my neighbor makes.

I'm not a big ice cream fan, so I would choose pie with no ice cream every time - plus that way, I can have a bigger slice ;) My favorite pie is pumpkin, but lately I've really been wanting apple. And you can't forget pecan pie. Or sweet potato. Yum, I think I need some pie soon!

Until this darn sugar allergy cropped up in Jan, my fav's were pecan, coconut cream, and apple/pear crumble pie (my own recipe). Since then I've gone back to my fav pumpkin pie recipe that has honey instead of sugar, and since I use fresh pumpkin it's to die for:love:. As for the ice cream, if I could find some of the sugar free variety that doesn't have Sucralose in it, I'd buy it, but since I can't I don't. Have a great day everyone!

Last night, I had made my first apple pie. I am not a fan of crunchy apples, and do not usually care for the crust, but this one turned out yummy using canned apples. It was all gone by this afternoon, so I made a peach one. I might try fresh apples one of these days.

I usually eat my pies by itself, but since the one last night was piping hot straight from the oven, we had french vanilla ice cream with it. :cutie:

Look into your refrigerator...are there any condiments that you have that have been sitting in there for awhile now that you hardly or never use? How about in your spice rack?

No on both, I am anal about food and will chuck it if I think its been too long.

I would say for the most part all of the stuff in the fridge get's used of a fairly regular basis. The salad dressings not so much so. The spices, some of them tend to get ignored unless I'm baking or making a specific dish. Anything that it is past it's due date get's tossed.

Considering we had a lightning strike a few months ago and lost power to our fridge for several days, everything had to get thrown out - so everything in there is fresh and new and gets used! As for the spice rack, I have the ones I tend to use more, and then some are set aside - but usually i toss those when I come across them. I'm not a big fan of using expired or old stuff.

I live in the biggest Chinatown in North America, so the answer would be both Chinese food, and sushi. When it comes to produce, I love our strawberries, blueberries and fresh produce in general. I try to buy from the local farmers when I can to help support them.

Here in the South it's fried anything!!!! Also, comfort food-mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, etc. I can't forget boiled peanuts of course-South Carolina's official state snack!!!
Mommytotwo, that would be a good question one day? What is your state's official snack? :thumbsup2

Tex Mex more than likely. Though since it's State Fair time, I would say fried foods. They have a contest every year. This year's winner is fried Chili Pie which I am going to try. The most unusual (I don't think that's the title but I'm not for sure) is fried beer.

Let's see..... maybe biscuits and gravy for GA? Yummy! Or boiled peanuts, or muscadines or scuppernogs. They are kinda like grapes, but they don't grow in bunches..... hard to explain kinda. :lmao: It must be a GA thing. Oh, and of course, Coke!
