We live on an acre and a half so our back yard is pretty big. The fenced in part for the dogs is about half an acre. Our septic lines take up a lot of that so that area can't be planted on. We thought we would be building a MIL house out back when we built our house so all water, septic and electric is geared for more than just us. The MIL house was never built. She changed her mind and went to live with someone else. :woohoo:

Anyway, in our backyard, we have a Maple tree, two Chinese Pistache, a Plum tree, a Mock Pomagranate, a Tallow tree and a Peach tree. I have a raised vegetable garden and some pots with flowers on the patio. We don't do much flower gardening right now because Dixie likes to lay in the dirt to keep cool.

Outside the dog's yard we have two Pecan trees and a birch of some kind. And that just what's out back.

We have a relatively small backyard with our garage, some small apple trees and some trees along the fence line that will eventually have to be taken out, as they are slowly dying and the city we live in is paranoid about taking trees out. You have to get a permit, and jump through around 2 dzn hoops just to remove a tree off your property. And even then you have to replace it with a tree with a trunk of at least an inch in diameter.

I hate squirrels...we call them "Bushy Tailed Rats", and have a pile of them in our neighbourhood. You have my sympathies.

Wow lots had gone on this month for me, and it had gone by faster than I knew. Tomorrow will be a new month. Cool fair, changing of leaves-(not for me :(...wish I could experience that) pumpkin patches, trick or treaters..... so today's QOTD is-

Rate your overall month of a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the best.

Hope all of you had some good memories this month with many more to come for the upcoming holidays. :flower3:

5ish

3 weeks ago found out the main support beam of our house is so drieid out that it has rotted and split, we will need to replace it next spring. Plus the damage that we found after tearing down the chimny (whom ever did the house, had no clue when putting in the chimny and wood stove) was worse then we expected, once we went to fix it.

On the upswing though my sister's baby shower is Oct. 2nd and my cousin is due to have her 4th child (a boy) on the 7th, though she could go much sooner.

A 5

Found out 3 weeks ago that we have a MAJOR house repair to make in the spring, and that is after everything that has happened with this house since summer '09

Sorry to hear about your house troubles Heidi. Last year when we moved, we had to paint the interior of the house due to our renters painting in dark, primary colours the entire interior. Between upgrading electrical and a bunch of repairs it totalled up to around $10,000 by the time we were done, and factoring in that we had to pay capital gains on the move which was a big chunk of money since we moved into our rental property, I feel your pain, and know what it's like to have major house repairs. As for this month in terms of busyness I'd rate it an 9. It's even better that I get to leave for DL in 2 days YAHOO!!

Sept was pretty good, I would give it an 8. This is only due to the fact that my fav time of the year is coming in finally and they rate higher. :goodvibes Oct will sooooo have to be a 9 or even a 10, same with Nov and Dec! I love it!

Microwavable meals. Do you like to serve t.v. dinners, Hot Pockets, frozen microwavable sandwiches..... to your family, or for youself? What are your favorites?

My kids liked Hot Pockets, Totinos Pizza, Bagel Bites. Since they're gone, I don't do microwave meals. Occasionally I will get a Stoffers pizza but I usually regret it later. :(

I buy the Green Giant Healthy Weight vegetable mix that steams in the bag in the microwave but I mostly use my microwave for heating up not cooking.

I hate to say it, but we're a nuker family. We use the microwave to reheat leftovers, and if we get some mini frozen pizzas we like them in the microwave too.

Mostly I use my microwave for heating water for tea or cocoa, or heating up leftovers for lunches.

Hope everyone is having a nice day. DH is going golfing, DD is in school, and DS has alot of energy that he is driving me :upsidedow bonkers.

What is everyone up to today?

I took my mom to the local Hallmark store so she could get some cards.

Then I drove to Greenville and had lunch at Chili's with Carol. Greenville is 30 minutes from me and about 15 from Carol. We talked about her possibly going to France to study next semester.

When I got home, I vacumned and mopped the floors.

Now I'm on the computer while dinner is cooking. Menu for this evening is meatloaf, homemade mashed potatos and green beans.

DH is out for most of the day building Cinderellas carridge for a show for the theatrical society we are invloved in. I am at home mostly doing housework. Then this evening we are going out to the theatre.
