Everything Rope Drop

My last attempt to ask this question to this group what deleted...

I have read in previous posts that guests are held at various security/temp checks if walking from a Disney resort. I am wondering, and hoping someone will report back, how the removal of the screening changes the timing of arriving for rope drop in advance of those driving in? We will have the option to do walk/drive/bus this June and trying to plan how we will travel to each park in time for RD...
The removal of the temp checks will affect every person entering the park equally regardless of how they arrive. It will be one less step for each person to take.

Instead of holding at temp check, I bet they hold at security check now.... nothing really changing other than one less step everyone will have to go through.

So really shouldn't affect your planning at all.

Only change will come when Disney moves to do some official early entry for resort guest...

We are arriving May 18th for a week staying at SSR. Should we arrive at the bus stop at 6:30 A.M. for an 8:00 park opening at DHS, MK and AK? Would using Lyft/Uber be a better idea for DHS, AK, Epcot? Thanks!!!
Usually HS opens at 9:00, double check your hours. I could be wrong though. Line up at 6:30 for 8:00 opening at Ak&Mk, and line up at 7:30 for 9:00 opening at HS.

ask again after May 16 since it doesn’t start until then.

Does anyone know how soon before official park opening time Uber/Lyft cars are allowed in to drop off guests at the theme parks? Thank you!

For AK, HS, and Epcot, they can drop off whenever the parking booths are open for private cars, which has been 45-60 minutes before opening.

For MK, since dropoffs are diverted before the parking booths, you can be dropped off pretty much whenever you like. But you will have to wait until the security opens there, then the monorail or ferry. I haven't heard when that is, but I assume it's about the same time as the parking booths.

Anyone having issues with Uber/Lyft availability at park opening?

I've seen other post issues during peak times, so don't want everyone counting on a service that might not have recovered from COVID...

I have not tried but have read reports of peak times being harder and more expensive.

Approaching lift off for next week's glorious 5 days onsite, so trying to park plan. :)

My twin boys are 42" tall, and early risers. So maybe not rope dropping, but hope to be close and definelty in parks before official open.

So help me priorize first priority rides, given I can spread over two mornings. I do have a 1:55 at the contemporary's wave on day 1, and a jungle skipper dinner on day 2 at an inconvient 6:05 I may try to move.

They are dare devil's, so mine train for sure.

Staying at AoA.

Many thanks!

If our group's three priorities at Hollywood Studios rope drop are Slinky, Mickey / Minnie, and Tower of Terror, what order do you recommend? Will be walking over from Beach Club so no anticipated transportation issues.

YMMV, but in our experience, ToT is the one to hit first. Once that line builds up, it doesn't seem to have any lull time. CMs told us on the last trip it'll be at least an hour all day (and it was, if not longer when we checked MDE and the Lines app). We've done it twice over the past year this way and didn't regret it. Although, I think I read somewhere on these boards it recently wasn't running before opening. The last time we did it in February, one side of the elevators was running.

MMRR we've also done at opening (November) and pretty much walked on. We've also ridden it later in the day with relatively shorter waits.

Slinky we've not done it first but my general rule of thumb for that ride is if the line stretches beyond the big Woody statue at the land's end that typically means it's about an hour wait or more with 6-feet distancing.

Here today (5/12). Walked from GF, one of the first in the park. Bee-lined to 7DMT. About 50 back in line. Hasn’t been moving (it’s 7:37 am). We can see a bunch of “rope drop” attractions (7DMT, Pooh, Mad Hatter Tea Cups, and Carousel) and the only one that’s been open so far is Carousel.

Hi all,
We will be at the parks next week. I have heard that the parks have been letting guests in early (have heard Hollywood Studios letting people in up to an hour before official opening time). Was just wondering if anyone has any insights about if this is true and if so, how early for each of the parks? Thanks in advance.

Best info will come from the Here Now & Just Back WDW Reopening Experiences Including Park Hopping thread.

ETA: looks like the admins moved you to the rope drop thread, so disregard my advice for the here now thread.

yes, parks do allow guests in before official park opening, typically 45 minutes before, but can be up to an hour. If you're using Disney buses, be to the bus stop early, as soon as the first buses arrive at the park, they typically start letting people in.

if you're driving, they allow you to line up about an hour before posted park opening and will start letting cars through when the theme park gates are opened.

I posted this question on the Transportation board but got no responses.

Does anyone have recent experiences going to rope drop at MK or DAK from Caribbean Beach? When we stayed at the Boardwalk last week we had good results getting to the bus stop at 6:30 and getting on the first bus, which arrived about 15-20 minutes later.

One of our daughters will be at CBR next month and I’m wondering if the same approach works there, or if the large number of stops makes it difficult for people at the last stops to get on an early bus and/or results in later arrival at the parks.
We were at CBR late April. We used The Riviera buses in the mornings
