Springtime is the Best Time- Flower & Garden, a taste of Dapper Days and Earth Day -April 2024- Side Trip to Epic Opening Day

It really doesn’t take long to melt in the Florida sun.

Not long at all!

You both look absolutely fabulous 😍

Thank you!

Gorgeous photo of you and Danielle. I love it!

One of my favorites.

Great way to arrive in style! Dapper Days sound like so much fun. You all look amazing though I think the spare outfit is a clever move for when being dapper gets too much in the heat :goodvibes

We were making the most of the experience. We also thought it was a smart move to have a change of clothes ready to go.

The looks of concentration on both your faces while blasting Zurg looks so at odds with your fancy attire:rotfl:

My thoughts too!

Except Dapper Day isn't chosen by Disney. I'd have thought the event organizers would've modified their date.
That's a very good point. I'm sure for anyone driving to the park that day it was a headache too.

Sunday, April 21,2024- Magic Kingdom Dapper Day. More Rides

It's still Dapper Day and we have had our breakfast at Gaston's. I'm sure we used the bathroom in the area, cause it's one of my favorites in Fantasyland. I also made a point to look for the tiny door and found it.

1776818280144.png
Have you ever seen this?
We decided to stay in the area and ride some more rides. We had some LLs but needed to wait until Danielle was back with us, so we tried to stick to the rides without long lines. The line for Under the Sea wasn't too bad and it was close, so that was next.
1776818425428.png
Next we decided to do a ride I don't do very often. I don't think I rode it for the first time until 2022 because I was worried it would mess with my equilibrium issues. But it doesn't for some reason, and the views are great!
Crazy Ladies on Dumbo!
1776818598507.png
1776818636964.png
After Dumbo Danielle was ready to play with us. We continued the fun in Fantasyland and did her favorite FL ride, It's a Small World.
1776818736389.png
And she did what she always does on IASW, even though she says it her favorite.
1776818792676.png
I need to put together all the photos I have of her and Dennis asleep on IASW.
We continued the fun and popped into Mickey's Philarmagic before leaving Fantasyland behind.

We waited in a not too long line to ride Jungle Cruise. When we got in line we saw the many people dressed for Dapper Day gathering in the area. I think it was to take the big group picture. I wasn't really in the know and didn't feel comfortable hanging around and trying to join so we just stayed in line. I'm sure it was a fabulous photos because we saw some great outfits.

1776819143223.png
We were all hungry and it was time to get some grub. We crossed from Adventureland into Frontierland and ran right into Shaker from the Country Bears. He insisted on a photo with Danielle.
1776819297977.png
Lunch was upstairs overlooking Liberty Square in Columbia Harbor House. This is my favorite CS in Magic Kingdom.
1776819480340.png
1776819511658.png

I hope I'm remembering this right. Robin had the salad with Chicken tenders. She's a fan of the chicken tenders and gets them often. Danielle had the lobster roll. I had the salmon and Ralphie had the Uncrustable because he has the palate of a toddler.

There were several other Dapper Days groups eating there too. It was nice to visit with them.

After lunch I popped into Ye Old Christmas Store to get an ornament. I get one every year and make sure it has the year date of my visit. I didn't get a picture of the ornament but I'm sure it was on my tree this year.

We lucked out and caught the Festival of Fantasy parade in Liberty Square.

1776820161872.png

It's always nice when we catch it, but I don't make a point of staking out a spot like I did in the past.

After the parade we jumped in line for Haunted Mansion. Danielle and I decided to make our photos interesting.

1776820459399.png

Robin and Ralphie were too busy talking.

1776820500247.png
One of the CMs gave us a special card that I have never seen. I think we were given it because we were dressed.

We were Honorary Caretakers.

1776820755267.png

1776820781476.png
We stopped for more photos as we left the ride.

1776820882542.png
After this we were ready to head back to the front of the park and put on some regular clothes. And this was when we realized we had forgotten to bring something very important. We forgot to bring a brush. I was ready to put my hair up in a ponytail and needed to get some serious hairspray combed through. So off we went to try and find a brush. How hard could it be? Surely there was a brush somewhere with a Princess on it. Well we looked all through Liberty Square and Fantasyland and did not find a single brush. We did ask in Sir Mickey's and it was suggested we try the Emporium. I knew I had seen a brush in the dump shop for TSMM earlier in the trip, so that's what we went to find. We did finally find the brush in the Emporium.

Forky!

1776821239935.png

1776821264469.png
And yes I still have it. It has become the kid's brush when they are here.

When we got back up to the front we ran into Danielle's twin so we had to take a picture before we changed. They both got their dresses online at a Vintage Dress shop.
1776821438008.png
We changed into something more comfortable and put our fancy dresses into the locker. It was a lot harder to get those dresses to fit into the locker than our comfy clothes, but we did it.

We caught the train on Main Street and rode it back to Frontierland.

1776821650806.png

We took some time to check out Tiana's, it was still under construction.
1776822213440.png
1776822249081.png
We headed to Adventureland to ride Pirates. We got the front of the boat and remembered our hooks.
1776822582482.png
Danielle and I were ready for a treat so we got the candied bacon! This is so good.
1776822313797.png
We used one of our LLs for Big Thunder Mountain. Boy I miss this ride and I'm so looking forward to riding again in June.

We crossed back to Fantasyland to ride my favorite FL ride: Peter Pan! A trip for me is not complete unless I ride it.

1776822444491.png
We were all losing steam so it was time to get some rest in Carousell of Progress. We really love this attraction but it is so hard to stay awake.
1776822705434.png
Dinner was some snacks.
Robin had a funnel cake.
1776822769126.png
Danielle and I had some Pizza and Cheeseburger Egg Rolls.
1776822849730.png
I think we had lost Ralphie sometime earlier, maybe after Pirates.
I honestly don't remember what else we did but I have a photos of the Train Station at 8:39 pm that was taken as we were leaving. It had been a long day and we were done.
1776822984282.png

Up next is our last park day, Animal Kingdom for Earth Day!

Tomorrow is "Reservation Day" for our June trip. Please wish me luck. Michelle and I are splitting the duties.

:rotfl:I need to put together all the photos I have of her and Dennis asleep on IASW.
That would be fun to see 😴
ran right into Shaker from the Country Bears. He insisted on a photo with Danielle.
What a great photo!
Lunch was upstairs overlooking Liberty Square in Columbia Harbor House. This is my favorite CS in Magic Kingdom.
My favourite qs spot too. I love eating upstairs there with a view over Liberty Square away from the hubbub of the park.
I popped into Ye Old Christmas Store to get an ornament
There’s always something new in there and it’s so lovely to get a souvenir to treasure for years to come. I love my Disney Christmas ornaments. They always spark such happy memories.
After the parade we jumped in line for Haunted Mansion. Danielle and I decided to make our photos interesting.
Brilliant!:rotfl:
We were Honorary Caretakers.
How cool is that! I didn’t know such a thing existed.
We forgot to bring a brush.
Easily done.
So off we went to try and find a brush. How hard could it be?
Well….
Oh Forky is totally worth the time you spent searching for him! Love that the grandkids get to enjoy him now at home.

Gosh Vanessa you and I could be twins- between Christmas ornaments, CHH and now Peter Pan! No trip is complete for me either until I ride Peter Pan :goodvibes

True!
Tomorrow is "Reservation Day" for our June trip. Please wish me luck. Michelle and I are splitting the duties.

Have you ever seen this?
I have seen the little door!!! Any intel on what it actually is? Or is it just a cute little door?

I need to put together all the photos I have of her and Dennis asleep on IASW.
That's actually hilarious. :) Maybe it's her favorite because she can catch some zzzs!!

Oops, I deleted the quote, but it was about Columbia Harbour House! I had never eaten there until a couple of years ago on a tour. Now it's on our list of QS at MK because it was so empty upstairs and peaceful with a clean bathroom. Definitely a good spot!

It's always nice when we catch it, but I don't make a point of staking out a spot like I did in the past.
We don't really find ourselves holding down a spot or waiting for any parades either anymore. On our December trip, I had wanted to see the afternoon parade, and Jimmy, for the first time, went off on his own to see Cinderella and ride Tomorrowland Speedway instead. :) So Rob and I stood near Main Street and watched the parade ourselves. It was such a nice memory from our trip.

I hope your reservations went smoothly this morning!!

It's still Dapper Day
Still? Seems like forever ago!

;)
I also made a point to look for the tiny door and found it.
Interesting history behind that. :)
The line for Under the Sea wasn't too bad
I don't think I've ever seen it "bad"/long.
Crazy Ladies on Dumbo!

 But you look like you're having the time of your lives. :)
Wheee!
her favorite FL ride, It's a Small World.
:headache:
:sad2:
And she did what she always does on IASW, even though she says it her favorite.
ohhhhh...
Okay, that makes sense, then. Better with earbuds, though.
I need to put together all the photos I have of her and Dennis asleep on IASW.
I think that'd be a fun idea. :)
I wasn't really in the know and didn't feel comfortable hanging around and trying to join
I felt the same.
We crossed from Adventureland into Frontierland and ran right into Shaker from the Country Bears. He insisted on a photo with Danielle.
Are you sure? He is a bear ya know. Might've been really just wanting to eat her.
Columbia Harbor House. This is my favorite CS in Magic Kingdom.
It's been a while, but... I'd say it's probably mine as well.
Danielle had the lobster roll.
Danielle is smart.
(even if her FL fave ride is a little suspect.)
Ralphie had the Uncrustable because he has the palate of a toddler.
After lunch I popped into Ye Old Christmas Store to get an ornament. I get one every year and make sure it has the year date of my visit.
Nice tradition. :)
It's always nice when we catch it, but I don't make a point of staking out a spot like I did in the past.
I'd say I was the same.
Great shot!

Three lovely ladies in front of the best ride.
We forgot to bring a brush.
Whoops!
We did finally find the brush in the Emporium.

Forky!
Betcha that's a conversation piece now.
You have to get that shot! ::yes::

Whole heartedly agree!
We really love this attraction but it is so hard to stay awake.
I was expecting more sleeping Danielle photos... but I suspect the photographer might've nodded off as well?
Robin had a funnel cake.

Decadent.
Tomorrow is "Reservation Day" for our June trip. Please wish me luck.
Good luck!

That would be fun to see 😴
I'll have to find some time to do some searching.

What a great photo!

I think it's cute too.

My favourite qs spot too. I love eating upstairs there with a view over Liberty Square away from the hubbub of the park.

This is a big reason why I like it so much.

There’s always something new in there and it’s so lovely to get a souvenir to treasure for years to come. I love my Disney Christmas ornaments. They always spark such happy memories.

Yes they do. I love reliving the memory as I'm putting them on the tree.

Brilliant!:rotfl:

Thanks!

How cool is that! I didn’t know such a thing existed.

Neither did I.

Oh Forky is totally worth the time you spent searching for him! Love that the grandkids get to enjoy him now at home.

He is getting lots of use.

Both girls look amazing!

Yes they do.

Gosh Vanessa you and I could be twins- between Christmas ornaments, CHH and now Peter Pan! No trip is complete for me either until I ride Peter Pan :goodvibes

We're MK BEST BUDS!

Thank you,

I have seen the little door!!! Any intel on what it actually is? Or is it just a cute little door?
I found this on IG posted by travelwithmichellem

There is a tiny door next to Gaston's Tavern in Magic Kingdom. It isn't accessible by guests and seemingly goes nowhere. What is it? Why is it there?

A miscalculation! There are so many teams working together to create lands and attractions, it's almost inevitable that someone is going to miscalculate something! Teams misjudged the placement of the building, resulting in it overlapping with the manhole. Imagineers decided to install a tiny door so that the manhole would be accessible!

That's actually hilarious. :) Maybe it's her favorite because she can catch some zzzs!!

That's a really good point.

Oops, I deleted the quote, but it was about Columbia Harbour House! I had never eaten there until a couple of years ago on a tour. Now it's on our list of QS at MK because it was so empty upstairs and peaceful with a clean bathroom. Definitely a good spot!

That's a great memory. I wondering if we'll try to see it with the boys in June.

I hope your reservations went smoothly this morning!!

They could have gone better.

Still? Seems like forever ago!

I know! I has been forever ago.

Interesting history behind that. :)

The miscalculation?

I don't think I've ever seen it "bad"/long.

I haven't seen in long in years, but I do remember waiting for a long time in 2015.

But you look like you're having the time of your lives. :)

We were!

ohhhhh...
Okay, that makes sense, then. Better with earbuds, though.
I know you can't stand the song.

I think that'd be a fun idea. :)
Someday.

I felt the same.

Maybe if I ever do it again I'll be more bold.

Are you sure? He is a bear ya know. Might've been really just wanting to eat her.

I'm a terrible mother. That never crossed my mind. I was just sacrificing her up.

It's been a while, but... I'd say it's probably mine as well.

MK is not know for having the best CS options.

Danielle is smart.

This is her go to at CHH.

Great shot!

Thank you!

"...so if you divide by the hypoteneuse and factor in the tangent..."

I does look like they're having a complex discussion.

How cool is that?!? I'd love to get one of those. :)

It was so unexpected and that's what makes it "Pixie Dust".

Absolutely.

I'm going to plead the 5th.

Well, we survived "Reservation Day" (does anyone else say it like Anna says "Coronation Day"?).

It took both Michelle and I working together to get our ADRs set. We had to make some changes and compromises. We also ended up make more reservations than we originally planned. We started right at 5 am our time and didn't finish until right before 8 am. I think Michelle even went back and made some more changes during the day.

Michelle had certain meals she really wanted for the boys, Dennis always has his opinion, we had 2 birthdays to celebrate and we really wanted Michelle, Jimmy and the kids to experience Hoop Dee Doo Review. That's a lot of moving parts plus we're a group of 10.

The app stopped working at some point and Michelle was using that. I was using my desktop since I thought I was going to need my phone to call Disney Dining for HDDR since it was for more than 8 people. I had seen online you couldn't do for more than 8 online, but that ended up being wrong. We had to split reservations at most places with Michelle getting an ADR for 6 and me getting one for 4 and just making sure they were close in time. I was trilled when I was able to book HDDR online since the phone line didn't open for another hour. I made a rookie mistake and didn't pay attention to what tier I was booking. I wanted tier 1 for Wednesday but I booked tier 2, tier 1 was wasn't available for either the 4 or 6:15 show. I ended up booking the 4:00 show on Thursday in tier 1 and cancelling the Wednesday reservation. Thursday is Danielle's birthday but she said she was ok with moving HDDR to her day and she and Dennis both did not want to have seating in tier 2. Thursday is our AK day, so this is really going to cut into our time in the park. We wanted if for Wednesday, our no park/rest day. Michelle had booked Tusker house for a late breakfast. She was able to get an ADR for all 10 of us. She ended up cancelling this so we could have more park time. Since we weren't doing HDDR on rest day, we booked a split ADR for 'Ohana for a late breakfast.

This is what we ended up with:

Monday is our first park day at Epcot. We booked a split ADR at Garden Grill for lunch to take advantage of my AP 40% off and Danielle's CM 40% off. I can only use my discount for 4 people and Danielle and her sweetie can use it for up to 6 people. Dennis, Danielle and I ate here back in 2007 and haven't been back since. We're looking forward to the kids meeting the characters here too and watching Living with the Land pass by.

Tuesday is Michelle's birthday and our MK day. We originally said we would not do a table service this day and Michelle would try to get an ADR for her and Jimmy at Wailulu while we watch the kids. She ended up not being able to get one until Wednesday night. She surprised us all by booking Be Our Guest for lunch for all 10 of us. I will be able to get 20% off for 4 of us with the AP Summer discount. She and Jimmy really wanted the kids to celebrate with them.

Wednesday was originally going to be our rest day and do HDDR. It's still our rest day but we're doing 'Ohana's for breakfast. The kids really want to meet Stitch and the breakfast looks pretty good too.

Thursday is Danielle's birthday and AK. We're doing HDDR at 4. We wanted the early seating so the kids aren't too tired and this gives us time to explore Ft Wilderness and maybe finally do the Chip n' Dale sing along. I've been trying to make it there since 2002.

Friday is DHS but we're going back to Epcot for dinner at Via Napoli. This was another place we had to do split ADRs. We want to make it back to DHS for Fantasmic.

I'm so glad that is all done.

In other news, if you follow Danielle on IG she posted that she will be moving locations. She is leaving Festivals to move to Coral Reef effective May 3. She has had Leader experience in counter service, Festivals and now she will get experience as a Leader in table service. Disney is all about providing new challenges to the CMs. She is happy to still be in Epcot but nervous about the move. I know Coral Reef gets a bad wrap, but it will always hold a special place in our hearts. This was the first table service restaurant Dennis and I ever ate at. We did eat here last summer and really enjoyed our meal. I'm exciting to see what happens next for her.

The miscalculation?
All of it. That and making a little door instead of tearing it down.
:)
I know you can't stand the song.
Scar anything but.gif
I'm a terrible mother. That never crossed my mind. I was just sacrificing her up.

Glad you managed to get your reservations sorted. Always harder with a large group but you’ve got a lot of great picks in there and so much to celebrate. It will be wonderful to share it all with the grandkids too :goodvibes
