Ever Met a Celebrity at Work?

When I was working for a catering company. I got to meet Brad Pasiley band, they were super nice guys and gave me tickets to the show

Just the county superintendent. :)

Oh, that's incorrect. Also a weatherman, a newsanchor, and an olympian.

I met Jerry Bruckheimer- TV producer. He was in town filming Days of Thunder in the late 80's. I worked at JC Penney in the local mall. Before I came to work that day I had read an article in the paper about the filming and there was several quotes from him. He paid for his t shirts with a credit card and when I saw the same I was .

I haven't, but through my dh's job, he has met many, Cynthia Nixon, Alec Baldwin, Kim Bassinger, Susan Sarendon, Tim Robbins, a gazillion politicians of all levels, the fabric lady from NYC real housewives, the guy from sopranos whose head ended up in the bowling bag, and much, much more I can't even remember. He even had Steve Buscemi call me on my cell phone.

BEST story, however, is the one where he was doing some work with JFK, Jr. and they were walking down some stairs. My dh took a header and literally rolled down the stairs. After, dh looked up and all he could see was JFK, Jr. with his eyes WIDE open in shock, mouth wide open and hands over mouth. Dh was hurt, but never had been so embarassed in his life. JFK, Sr. is my dh's idol so it made it hurt even worse.

I had a comic book store in the early 90s and had two men and a teen come in. They had just pulled off the interstate in a convertible, so they were a bit windblown. I said good morning to them, 'let me know if I can help', all the normal stuff and continued about my work. All of a sudden, the taller of the 2 men starts getting excited about a certain book and I'm thinking "I know that voice." Turns out it was Harry Anderson (Night Court). He was very pleasant, we chatted for a couple of minutes, then he signed an autograph before he left. It was the highlight of the week.

Back when I used to work at Walgreens corporate office I met several famous people.

Walter Payton--former neighbor of mine but also came into work on occasion. He and his wife Connie were incredibly nice people. Connie still is. :)

John Madden-very nice guy

McLean Stevenson (from MASH--total jerk!) He actually snapped his fingers at me and told me to get him coffee. Not asked, TOLD.

Diahann Carroll-(actress from the 60's-70's). Pleasant but not friendly

Elvira Mistress of the Dark--Super nice, and NORMAL!

I used to babysit for some of the Chicago Cubs too.

There were a few others, but most of them were local Chicago celebrities that a lot of people may not have heard of

Ooo - what Cubs did you babysit for? I don't know how old you are, but I had a couple of huge crushes on some Cubs. ;) When I was a little girl Rick Monday was going to be my future husband, but then Ryne Sandberg took his place. Oh, and I also had a thing for another one, but I can't remember his name right now.

My employer used former Redskins QB Joe Theismann in a national ad campaign and was an minor sponsor of the NFL as part of that campaign. As part of the NFL deal, my company got X dollars worth of NFL merchandise. They used the allotment to purchase leather NFL footballs for everyone in the division and Theismann walked around the office and visited everyone and autographed their football. Another year we had then Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren at a division meeting (no goodies handed out), and another time we had former Bill's QB Jim Kelly (got an auto'd Bill cap).

Working at the Indy 500 every year, I've been around a number of celebrities... probably the best experience is some of the nice "chit-chat" sessions I had with Paul Newman when he co-owned a race team in Indycar. We talked to each other as fans of the sport, not about him or who he was.

Unless your old like me you will not have a clue of who I am talking about but back in '77-78 I worked at a dry cleaners for a short time in a affluent small town in Connecticut and one of our regular customers was Mable Albertson, sister to Jack Albertson(chico and the man fame) and she played Darren's Mother in Bewitched.
She was a very charming poised woman, happy to chit chat and always drove herself to our establishment. She has long since passed on, but every fall I think of her because she once told me how she loved the fall that it made her feel alive :goodvibes

My DH (then boyfriend) used to manage a Blockbuster about 10 years ago. He was working away when Billy Bob Thorton and Angelina Jolie came in just browzing around. I think Billy Bob was in town filming Monster's Ball. Anyway, he said they were the most "normal" and down to earth people believe it or not. He also said that Angelina had no make up and was just simply stunning. The kicker is that I had just left the store about 10 minutes before after dropping off DH some dinner. Gah! If I had only been a few minutes late.

DH said later he wished that he would have gotten Billy Bob to autograph the video box of Slingblade and Angelina to autograph Girl, Interrupted. Ah well.

When I was in the service, the film "Flight of the Intruder" was filmed on my ship, the USS Independence. I met Ving Rhames, Danny Glover, Brad Johnson, and Willem DaFoe. Other times on that ship I got to meet Wally Shirra (retired Navy Captain and astronaut) and Richard Dean Anderson (McGuyver).

I loved Chico and the Man (it's my ringtone for my oldest son :)). I didn't know she was his sister.

Our high school orchestra had a smaller group that would play for conventions, dinners, weddings, etc. and at one event Marion Ross attended (Happy Days). She was so nice, very complimentary and for several years after we played she sent notes to the school thanking us and telling us how much she enjoyed listening to us. We thought that was pretty nice of her.

At work I rode the elevator with one of the guys from the 80's group MENUDO. I totally freaked out since I used to love them. I work for a big bank and the guy is now in the financial industry.

The only one I have met is the boy that came out in "Akeelah and the Bee". He is from our hometown.

A fairly famous NFL player came in for Reading Week as a Guest Reader.

He showed up with a 5 car Escalade entourage in tow.

Sat down, opened up the book (this is for an elementary school mind you)

AND COULDN'T READ IT. Like listening to a kindergartener trying some new book for the first time.

It was painful.... even the kids were very uncomfortable.

He tried to get through 2 or 3 pages, then put it down and started talking about himself and his team.

Last spring, Meg Whitman and her entourage came to the school where I work (she was running for governer of California at the time but didn't win). Our school was named the most improved in our area and she came to have a few photo ops in the computer lab with some of the kids. I was standing in the doorway of the girls bathroom monitoring one of my preschoolers who was in there. I recognized a few of our district board members, but not the rest of the group as they walked by. I asked the custodian (who knows everything!) what was going on and he told me. I was less than impressed.

If you think about it...that is very sad.:sad1:

Many years ago I used to work and a 24 hour restaurant on the 3rd shift.
I met a very very intoxicated Pam Tillis, yeah I'm sure not her finest moment.
Vern Gosden - super jerk!!
The undertaker - very nice guy. That guy really is huge.
