.*Even Miracles Take A Little Time.* A Beyond Birthdays PTR ~Complete~

I guess I'll begin with an update on my two iffy Disney trips (as if any trip I begin isn't iffy).

First, on the Disneyland trip which seems the more likely of the two. It's a shame this one really isn't a Disney World trip because then I could get right down to business because I have to wait for the sixth month mark which is around December and January to actually book it. I am preparing and keeping up-to-date mostly with flights though, but still a lot of waiting. I'm hoping my mom will make it more official sooner than that.

Disney World on the other hand has made leaps and bounds. I'm sure you'll recognize the term DGE 2014 in my signature. This is called DisGraduation Extravaganza 2014, a trip I've had on the mind since I joined the DIS. I want to go to Disney for graduation with friends and it's coming down to crunch time right now. So I began talking to two of my closest friends who were originally invited to the PTR that this PTR was about (Jocelyn and Nate). Jocelyn was interested and so was Nate. Now, when I told Nate we really got down to business to already start planning it. We have priced packages out, looked at air rates, the whole nine yards. I've tried to tell my mom, but she's a bit over the whole Disney thing. I'm hoping I can bring it up to her soon and get another friend on board so we can have an equal four.

No new PTRs yet sadly, but for now I will be working on this one so let's get back to NYC, where a father and son are at the 9/11 memorial. Time to tune in...

They Are New Yorkers, Fear's Their Life! An Eye-Opening Jaunt in Modern Day New York City 2012

Day 1 Part IIII

After enjoying the sights of the 9/11 memorial, my dad and I decided it was time to leave. The way out was the same as the way in so through the extremely long queue we went. I swear, the amount of Disney reminders were becoming a bit ridiculous. Luckily, the queue diverged towards none other than... THE GIFT SHOP!

This gift shop was actually pretty cool. They had all these preserved artifacts from the 9/11 wreckage along with a video on the 9/11 disaster and what the memorial was all about, but the one thing that really caught my eye was this motorcycle.

071.jpg

For people who are familiar with the show American Choppers, this bike was actually created by Paul Sr. It was pretty surreal seeing this since my dad and I were HUGE fans of the show once upon a time so seeing an actual bike is just beyond cool. One of my sisters is probably the biggest fan out of all of us (she still watches the show today) so I had to take a second picture of my "excitement".

072.jpg

After all that, I went right to shopping. I always have to get a souvenir every new place I go so I looked around. In the end, I bought a nice t-shirt with a quote designed to look like the twin towers. But because I'm such a tease, I'm actually going to show you at the end. *giggles*

After I made my purchase, we left and walked back to the Subway station with no problems. That is until we got to the station.

When we were down at the gates, neither my dad or I could get through them. We tried a few then moved down when I finally was able to get through. My dad unfortunately could not so I was stuck in what is probably the most disgusting place I've been in yet, excuse my bluntness (I think I've given enough warnings). My dad tried a few more times, but ended up having to buy a new one-way ticket. I guess this is what happens when he gives the subway clerk sass. I took a picture while I was waiting for my dad of his trials and tribulations.

073.jpg

Our train arrived soon enough and we were on our way back to the Sheraton. The ride was fairly uneventful and long. It was a little torturous for me, but good thing this was the last time I ever had to ride that Subway on this trip.

When we got back, we noticed we had a lot more time than expected. After a quick deliberation, we decided to go out for dinner early before Wicked that night. My dad had told me about Rosie O'Grady's a restaurant right across the street from our hotel so we decided to go there. Here is a picture from across the street at the hotel:

074.jpg

There was nobody there when we got there so we were seated immediately (our luck with these restaurants was uncanny). We sat down and ordered drinks, they didn't have a lot to offer soda or non-alcoholic wise so I got a ginger ale.

075.jpg

This is where our luck started to run out. I hope you will be able to follow along at this part. First, it began with ordering our food from the waitress who sat us and got us drinks. I had to make it confusing by deciding to get some appetizer while my dad wasn't as hungry. We ordered, but we weren't sure if the lady had gotten it. We waited for her to come back, but now another waitress came in to get our orders. We told her about our little predicament and she took our orders. Now, we had two orders for us going in. Then, the waitress we had earlier walked by again. My dad called her over and tried to straighten it out when the other waitress luckily came by. We did straighten it out and all was good, but shows our luck isn't entirely consistent.

After this debacle, we got some nice bread. They were a bit strange, but it held us over until my appetizer and the main meal.

077.jpg

Then, my appetizer came. I ordered steamers with... I feel I should say Fra Diavolo sauce, but I'm not sure. It was good though, love me some mussels!

078.jpg

Then, soon after I got my main course along with my dad finally getting his food. I got Lobster Ravioli. Not as good as the mussels, but I hadn't had it before so it was cool only to try it out.

079.jpg

Overall, the food was quite good. I won't say as good as what we had earlier at The Famous Oyster Bar, but I liked it and the fact the restaurant was right across the street from our hotel, it seemed like a good place to go back to.

Once my dad had finished paying for our food, we made our way out and back to the hotel. At the hotel, we decided to stop by concierge to find out how much tickets for Newsies cost. We ended up getting a trainee to help us, who was pretty good considering his position, but the lady (who just got a ruit canal and was nursing it with a bag of ice) was helping him a lot and we got a good idea of how much it would cost. The price was a bit high for us so we decided after that we would go see RENT instead.

We proceeded from the lobby up to our room for a nice little nap before Wicked that night. Well, for me anyways. My dad was watching the Broadway channel I had put, talking to me about Phantom of the Opera, which was on of his first shows. Before I passed out, I took a picture of our view again:

080.jpg

Then, I took something of a nap, not really ever falling asleep too excited to even sleep and being control freak me, I was nervous we weren't going to have enough time to get to the Gershwin Theater. When my dad got back, he told me that the guy he met this time at the concierge said to go to the box office to get our tickets because of the crazy surface fee at the hotel. So when we were going to Wicked that night, we would also make a stop at the New World Stages which were much closer than we thought.

My dad then took a shower while I tried to catch a few more Zzs. Of course, this didn't work out so I got changed nearly as quickly as I tried falling asleep. Soon enough, my dad was out of the shower so I could brush my teeth. Once I had done that, we were on our way out of the hotel and to the Gershwin Theater, which was pretty easy to find from Times Square, but like everything in NYC it required many crosswalks. When we got there, I noticed that the building that housed Wicked also housed the Circle in the Round theater where another Schwartz musical was playing.

081.jpg

Yup, Godspell. I really wanted to see this show since I'm such a huge fan of Stephen Schwartz (part of the reason why I'm seeing Wicked) and that show is very interactive especially in the revival. Corbin Bleu was also in the show, which was pretty cool since I grew up with the High School Musical movies and I've heard he's been doing a lot of Broadway lately. As you noticed though we weren't seeing that, we were seeing Wicked. So we went inside the Gershwin which was oddly quiet though we were there pretty early.

We asked a lady who was selling some merchandise by the door to where the New World Stages were. She gave us very simple directions and we were on our way. This was of course not that simple finding the New World Stage box office. We were led right to the stage door, but couldn't find the box office, which we soon discovered was on the other side completely. We got there with little time to spare so it was right to the ticket booths. There, we talked to the guy working it asking about RENT who told us about some great seats he had for us and for half the price we would've paid to get into Newsies. My dad paid, got our tickets and then we were on our way back to the Gershwin where we once again had more time than needed to get their and before the show.

Before we got back to the theater, I took a few pictures of the Wicked sign in front of the Gerswhin:

083.jpg

085.jpg

When we got there, prior to going into the actual theater, I went up and bought a poster for my room since my mom was re-decorating it as I made the purchase. It was a bit much, but where else could I have gotten it and for a better price? Exactly, so after getting that we went up to our seats. We were in the balcony, which required some cardio when finally we got to the balcony level.

We got right in line to get into the theater and were soon shown to our seats. I got my first playbill ever, a pretty exciting moment for me. I, of course, had to get some pictures of this monumental moment where I would see my first Broadway show so I took a picture of my seat with the playbill, poster and jacket in its vacancy.

086.jpg

After that, I noticed the beautiful set. I was about to take a picture seeing others trying to get a picture, but the usher told me not to. I didn't understand, but being the goody two shoes I am, I didn't. My dad then went out to go get a drink while I went to the bathroom. When I got back, the line to get in had lengthened, but since I already had gotten in, I walked on through and went back to my seat. When I sat down, my need to take a picture of something to commemorate this first Broadway show, I took a picture of the set when the lady wasn't looking. And I wasn't yelled at by anyone else. I count that as being okay.

087.jpg

I also got one on my phone. When my dad got back, he came with this really cool Wicked souvenir cup. The show was about to begin, so I didn't bother going to buy a drink. In the mean time, I took a picture of myself with the Wicked playbill.

088.jpg

Of course, the lady was looking and thought I was taking a picture of the set. Being me, I yelled back at her that I was just taking a picture with my playbill. Sheesh! This lady was getting on my nerves.

Soon enough the show started. I couldn't take any pictures of course now since it is a natural courtesy not to. I did end up getting a drink during intermission so I have a picture of that.

089.jpg

After that, the show ended with thunderous applause. I'm sure a lot of people already know about how this show has gotten such strong unanimous praise, but I am here as a member of the acting community and theater-going community to say those are true. It was an absolutely stunning show. From the set to the music to the story, it was great. Also, the actors and actresses we had were fantastic especially the one who played the lead role of the Wicked Witch of the West (*Spoiler Alert* or more popularly called nowadays Elphaba). If this show is ever nearby since it is still touring the US or you go to New York and need to decide on what Broadway show to see, I highly recommend you see this one first. You won't regret it. I mean, my dad even liked it and he had very low expectations.

Now, in terms of seating, since I'm sure most of you know about that little situation where my dad was putting me down for our seats, they actually were pretty good. The actors in theaters like these are trained so the audience isn't staring at their heads so it isn't an issue and the set is HUGE so you almost get a better view from up above. Personally, I really want to sit in the orchestra seating because I think the balcony feels so different when most theaters I go to are very tiny without a balcony. But if you can't get any tickets better priced, go with the balcony.

Anyways, after the show, we all hurried out of there and went straight home. You could tell that everyone was coming back from the theater since people were piling into our hotel or running back home in their nightly best. We got to the hotel and luckily beat the crowds to the elevator allowing us to get right back to our room. It was a long day so we were ready for some sleep.

Before going to bed, I took a picture of what I got from Wicked again along with what I was carrying around this day.

090.jpg

After that, my dad was flipping through channels on the TV while I was getting ready for bed. As I plopped myself down on my bed, my favorite pillow in place, I fell right asleep, excited for another day of enjoying more NYC.

TO BE CONTINUED

I'm just very jealous. WICKED AHHHHH.

I can't really think of anything else to say... my apologies.

JUST A SPOONFUL OF SUGAR MAKES IT ALL BETTER!

Hello DISers!

I'm sorry I haven't updated in... WOW! Almost two months! Time sure does fly! I hope you guys didn't miss me too much lol Nah, I'm sure you didn't even miss me, but whatever that doesn't matter. I'm back! PARTAY!

First, since I'm sure for those of you who are STILL reading, want to know why I left. Well, first I will add, unlike my last hiatuses, this was actually partly intentional. Don't worry, it wasn't any of your faults. I basically just found myself a bit... depressed around the DIS. As you know, my last trip to the world was over a year ago and in a few months, it will be TWO YEARS! Around here, reading all your TRs and getting excited for you about trips and the PTRs, I began to pity myself in a way. Why did I not go back to Disney? Why was I still home? Could I have been going to Disney again soon or not? Is there something I'm missing here? And I just needed a break. Not a break from Disney necessarily because that would've been painful just away so maybe I could get my thoughts straight and start enjoying the DIS, which for awhile I truly was not.

Fear not though! I was very busy. I'm trying to figure out what I neglected to let you all know from beginning of my departure to the ultimate end, but I'll just spout them spontaneously like I always do. First, I'm sure you all remember how on my last update I had come back from visiting a friend with whom I began planning the DGE 2014 Trip I've had in mind since I first became a member on here. Well, while we were there we also got into a whole heckuva lot of pin trading. My friend, Nate, is obsessed with it and is probably one of the top 10 reasons why he has almost become as obsessed as myself. Well, he was frantically searching for pins in between trip discussions and found this extremely rare pin only sold in Japan! He wanted it badly and after I got home from my weekend with him he sent me a link of where to buy it on ebay trying to coax me to do it since I forgot to send him a birthday present this year (while he sent me stuff...). I succumbed to the guilt and did buy it! The package came like two days after we ordered and the package came with a map of... DISNEYLAND! I had a full-on conniption and bounced around the house map in hand. I took it as a sign.

Okay, now for some bad news, not soon after this, my sister, not-so-careful sometimes, dropped my camera and the lens got stuck. So now... It does not work and I'm not even going to bother try fixing it so... there will be no pictures in these real-life updates anytime soon. I apologize and I will try my best with the cellphone camera, but I plan on getting a new, NICER camera soon so be ready for that, but just wanted to let you know.

It was coming down to the wire after I went up to visit Nate and school was only two weeks away and of course, the crazy busy-ness that comes with it started early. First, my mom finally shoved me into going to see the Orthopedic doctor for my back and for those of you who have seen pictures in my last two TRs is definitely not in the best of shape. At the first appointment, the doctor didn't make a full diagnosed but guessed it was something called Kyphosis. He wasn't sure so I had to set up a date for an MRI, which was a less than stressful experience, but it wasn't too bad since I got an opened one, but laying down for an hour doesn't exactly work for me. After the MRI, the doctor still wasn't sure so we set up an appointment at Boston Children's Hospital for a second opinion. I began physical therapy after, which I've discovered I actually REALLY enjoy now. The Children's appointment came (which was an experience in itself) and the doctor said I had classic Scheuermann's Kyphosis, a whole disease dedicated to ruining my body structure. He then recommended just PT so all was good after that, I won't go into too much since it is boring stuff and probably deserved it's own update at the time. Just wanted to let you know, I'm in Physical Therapy all is looking up on this situation! (:

Around this time I also began Drivers' Ed! Yes, I actually took Drivers Ed., which truly was an accomplishment. As of yesterday, I am actually, officially done, now it's just for the DMV and getting my license. I'm very excited now. Timmy is no longer a timid driver. I pretty much drive everywhere now at any chance I can and my little sister (DYS) thinks I'm a better driver than my parents. Oh... have I ever mentioned how much I adore my sister? That was definitely an interesting experience though drivers' ed. I ended up with such an awful driving teacher, she was so mean and really over-the-top. I swear, the fact I got through with her will say so much when I get my license since it was tough and I hope it helped in some way even if I had to beg her basically to teach me how to parallel park ECK!

On another bad note, I'm sure most of you knew about how my mom was working on applying for a new job well... her first interview went really well and everyone was really happy for her after my bad run with job searching. She then had a second interview, which she came home feeling not so good about and was on the right wavelength, not getting her job. It was a bit of a depressing day, especially considering my mom was really dependent upon getting this job and not trying to be too self-centered, the DLR trip I had in mind depended upon her getting the job, but hey I'm going to start back on my job search as is she. Everything happens for a reason, right?

I'll also get into probably what has been dominating my life lately: School. A lot is riding on what I do this year since it is Junior Year so I have a lot to think about such as colleges, which to visit, PSATs, SATs and so on and so forth. It's a big year and I actually gave up electives and am taking TWO science classes, one being AP, just so it all looks good on the transcript. I thought I had a good plan here, but I feel it has started to falter. I really like my World Literature teacher this year along with my Spanish teacher and Math teacher, they are all great. I also like the aids and interns in my World Lit/World Studies classes as well so always a plus. My advisory is also fantastic, so glad I switched to Chorus Advisory (I'll get into more of that later). The downside is, I'm not happy with the rest. My Chemistry teacher is a good guy, but I feel I'm not learning much and I was planning to take AP Chem, but I heard it's basically a death wish after having class with him. I'm starting to warm up to my World Studies teacher, but she isn't that great a teacher either. I'm hoping it won't hinder me if I take an AP Social Studies class next year. But I think the worst of them all is my AP Bio class. I'm not blaming the teacher or the workload for any of this but the kids. This year, a lot of my classes are paired up with Seniors and really they are the worst kids I've ever had to deal with in class. Seriously, most of my classes are great than they show up (minus Chemistry). They really are just at school just because and it's obnoxious for those of us who want a career, but I'll have to deal. Also, it's only October so I'm hoping it gets better *crosses fingers*

Also, I've been really trying to step out of the haze that is my internet life and trying to hang out with friends, which really has been a great decision. I've been going practically every weekend somewhere with a friend whether it be a movie or just driving around having a good time and YES, we are being entirely legal! One weekend, I was even invited to join my good friend, Jocelyn's family on a trip up to a theme park in Maine, which was tons of fun. I went on every ride including the rollercoaster and even conquered my fear of heights with these water slides that have a trap door you stand on to go down. It was awesome! I'm planning again to take some trips to visit the local Screamparks and haunted houses to conquer my fear of those too. This also led me to the discovery of the gem CHIPOTLE! Awww, the name makes my mouth water. Seriously, if you haven't yet, try this place out! One of the next best food places to those in Disney.

This really got me out of my funk and so I felt good enough to come see you all again and extend my stay on here. But wait there's more...

On top of all this, I have a few more trips up my sleeve! Sadly, they are not Disney, but you can't go wrong with any of these places. I don't know if I mentioned this on here, but earlier during the summer I got a letter from the Choir Director (and to-be Advisor at the time) on the two trips the Chorus was deciding between for this year. One was a week and a half European tour in Austria while the other was a four day trip to New York City! We had to choose between the two which one we would like better or both if neither was a problem, which it wasn't for me, so both it was! I was really excited for this trip, primarily for NYC since I love it there and foreign countries are intimidating to me even though I do enjoy them, the culture shift is quite scary. I had to send this back into school and when school finally started I found out, not everyone had actually given the slips back so we had to re-do it. A month or so of waiting thereafter, I found out I am going to....

NEW YORK CITY!!

Yup, Timmy is going for round TWO of NYC hopping and YES, this will commence his third Broadway show. Eeeeeppp, I'm hoping for a Disney show, Newsies preferably since that was the show I had to skip out on when I went with my dad this past summer (with the amazing, astounding RENT, which is sadly no longer off-broadway ): ). I haven't gotten any more details, but I'm sure we'll find out soon since it is going to be happening in April.

Now, besides this, I have no other trips planned, but lately the Universe seems to be in my favor on Disney or some other big trip this year. My family has been discussing Atlantis, which I would enjoy going to, but Disney is my top choice since Atlantis is basically just resort and waterpark IMO. But ever since my first sign with the map and Nate's interest in the graduation trip, I've had more and I'm being totally serious non-cuckoo here. First, my mom ended up re-decorating my room this summer with paint and all that good stuff but she also shoved a ton of Disney stuff in my room. I don't know how intentional it was, but two Mickey and Minnie stuffed animals I barely knew existed until now ended up on my old toy box that sits across from my bed. I didn't think much of this until my mom even agreed to looking at the ideas I had for the DLR trip, which may have been before Mickey and Minnie, but whatevs. A SIGN! Then, about a week ago, we had this fun little fortune telling session in advisory when we wen to the local Chinese food place. A friend in my advisory asked, "Will we be going back to Disney together?" So I opened my fortune cookie and it said, "You never hesitate the most difficult problems." I flipped out. I did ask my choir teacher/advisor the same question since we were thinking about an advisory trip lo and behold, but it didn't get as positive an answer, but still a Disney trip for me! Then, awhile after I did the same thing at my house when we ordered out and I asked my mom the question when she gave me an equally positive answer, there wasn't even a "No" or negative in there. I freaked out some more. Then, just last night, my sister was going through mail and saw a Disney envelope. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I still take it as a sign when she dropped it on the floor right as I was walking through the kitchen. I freaked out, opened it up and found an ART OF ANIMATION POSTER FOR THE LION KING FAMILY SUITES! I really want to stay at AoA and this just put me over the edge. I bounced all around the house, squealing and hyperventilating and all that until I nearly passed out. I don't know what it means, if it's just the universe finding balance in me with Disney or something or truly leading me down the Disney path, but I'm feeling good as if a trip is being planned already without my knowing. I don't know, I gotta good feeling so keeping my fingers crossed again and hoping something good is coming my way. I may even start wishing upon stars! Yeah, I'm out-of-my-mind excited about this! *crossing my fingers very tightly*

I'll have an update on the Quebec trip and the NYC trip soon. I commented on all the TRs in my subscriptions so if I missed yours please give me a holler.

Again, so glad to be back in the company of all you wonderful Disney lovers. Have a Magical Day!

:mickeyjum

I'm glad that you really enjoyed Wicked. It was a good choice of show to see. I adore that show! So so so good. I'm glad your Elphie was good too, because if Elphaba and Galinda (let's remember that A), aren't good, then it can be disappointing.

I'm glad that physical therapy is helping and that things are looking up. Don't worry about your lack of trips. I know it can be depressing, but you'll get through it. Just keep focusing on DGE!!

Yay, driver's ed! Man, I feel old. It's been a while, but I still remember it clearly. It's such an accomplishment.

It's such a good show! Definitely one I could see again and again. And totally agree, if Galinda (with an A) and Elphaba are a bit lackluster it does ruin the effect. So glad I got good ones! (:

Thanks, it really is a relief especially after my last experience. Anyways... yeah, I guess that's what I'll have to do, get through it. I know DGE 2014 will be here soon, but it is over two years so... lots of waiting, but I'm sure it will be worth it. Crossing fingers now for DLR though!

Haha, lol! Drivers' Ed, definitely did take a lot. I'm now just getting all those last driving hours so I can finally take the test. Will definitely let you guys know how that goes :teeth:

I wondered where you had wandered off to. Glad you came back. I've posted once or twice but life does get in the way.
I still read all my favorites but have a tough situation going on with an ill relative and a lot of changes in the medical field.
A former teacher, I've worked in the medical field for years (a family tradition). I thought from your pictures you probably had scoliosis/Kyphosis.
Thought my eldest grand had it but turns our being in ROTC proved he has bad posture.:)
I work for a specialist who is in the 'back' field. :rotfl2:

Oh no, clear the roads we've got my grand and Timmy both on the road at the same time:drive: at least you're on opposite ends of the country. (JK).

Happy to hear things are going better and that you are spending time with friends. You can't get these years back so enjoy them!
Ahh the days of drivers ed (a Model T was my car, not really but it sounds funnier than a Mustang). Getting ready for college, stressful but also a great time in your life.
Don't focus so much that you forget to enjoy your life, it all goes by so fast.
Hope you get back to Disney soon!

Awwww, well thanks for coming back to mine, Tink! Hope you get through your tough situation soon! :)

Haha, of course you did. It's pretty obvious in photos now. :/ I have bad posture too, but a lot is due to Kyphosis apparently.

Haha lol I'm a pretty good driver! Don't doubt my abilities! ;)

Definitely, that's why I tried to spend more time with them. I know most of them are more than likely staying in the nearby area for college while I'm hoping to go a ways away from where I live.

I'm SOOOO glad it's done. Had the worst Drivers' Ed instructor :P And yeah, I'm hoping I'll really get down to visiting more schools no matter how far they may be soon since it is getting down to the wire.

Thanks! I'm really trying not to, but it is tough. Will have to fight through it I guess.

Thank you! *crosses fingers*

I am new to the world of disney and can not wait till May 31 of 2014 till we go on our first trip to the world loved your trip report and can not wait to read more:thumbsup2

That's awesome! So glad you could have joined us! :welcome: to the DIS! And I'm glad you are enjoying the report. I'll try to get another update on here soon :)

ALMOST THERE (PERSONAL UPDATE)

It's been awhile since I've updated so I thought it about time I leave an update here. I haven't been on the DIS in awhile for many reasons. First off, school is hammering down on me this year. This is the most important year for me prior to leaving off for college and so far, I feel this is one of my worst. I only wish I could switch this year with sophomore or freshman year because then I feel everything would work out as planned. So yeah, I'm kinda in this increasingly bad mood and so far, nothing has come along that has made me feel better. I can only look forward to Christmas break and the New York City trip in the spring, but still it's no easy thing waiting.

This is primarily the reason I have not been on here all that often or commenting much because I know the negativity in my life kinda transcends into everything no matter how hard I try to keep it out. But I really feel bad otherwise for not having commented in forever, not keeping up with all that's going on, etc. so I'm gonna back into it since I know I'll be in better spirits this coming week considering Christmas is around the corner and it's just one of those holidays that makes me happy. Speaking of which, I do have an update on the up-and-coming graduation trip. This isn't exactly happy since my best friend, Jocelyn, has dropped out of the trip so it's back to my other good friend Nate and myself. I may want to keep it this way since I think we'll be able to get more done in a shorter amount of time since he and I are both pretty quick when it comes to touring the parks. But that's all. I think Disneyland is a no-go now since most in my family want to go someplace else and though I'm find with that... well... it's Disneyland for crying out loud! I'll just have to wait for the year to go on to see if anything happens involving DLR.

In terms of all these mini-TRs I've started here. I'm not sure if its worth continuing since I've pretty much forgotten the specifics needed to finish the Quebec trip. I probably could finish up NYC fairly quickly, but I'm not sure there are many of you around willing to sit through more of my slowly progressing TRs and minimal PTR stuff. So, for any of my readers left, what is the conclusion (okay word?) on that?

I hope all is well with everyone else and that you all had great Thanksgivings, Halloweens and whatever! And I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas! I'll be definitely posting another update on what great things Christmas has brought me.

Have A Magical Day! :mickeyjum

ALL BEFORE CHRISTMASTIME (General Update)

So I thought I would give one last little update before I get too deep in Christmas festivities. I've made an executive decision on my mini-TRs and the fact is I barely remember all the details of this trip and I didn't take very many notes so I thought I'll just make two videos to close off these trips as well as the PTR since it's been running far too long. I probably will have a new PTR for the graduation trip I've been talking about soon so be ready for that. Until then, I'll post my little Christmas update and get to working on those videos for y'all!

And....

I wanted to wish you all a very merry and magical Christmas! :smickey:

Here's a little video to get you into the Christmas spirit:

TWICE UPON A CHRISTMAS (AND THEN AGAIN!)

Hello DISers! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I sure did. It was great seeing family and spending as much time I could with my immediate family and friends. I'll get into that later though. I'm sorry I didn't do my live posting on Christmas morning, but I'm sure those following me on Instagram or Twitter already know about what happened there. Either way, I'm here to present to you the ongoing festivities surrounding this Christmas season in Timmy's life.

My Christmas Tree (with all my gifts)

Christmas sort of began for me last week during my final week of school before this vacation. In my advisory, we had Secret Santa and a Yankee Swap on the Friday before vacation. It was a lot of good fun and really made the last week a ton more enjoyable than it was.

Here is what I got:

7FC96B21-6C12-4982-8E66-291696077701-930-00000075894261DF.jpg

(Going from left to right) I got an ornament from my advisor, which has my name on it (love my advisor!). Next to it is a candy cane dressed up to look like a reindeer that I got from an aid at my school (don't really like her, but it's cute enough). Next to that is a gift card to Godiva that I got during a Yankee Swap (I still want the chocolate bunny but I've never been to Godiva so I'll have to check it out). Next to that are the secret Santa gifts, a Christmas game (sadly missing pieces), a slinky (I just can't get enough of those!) and a tambourine (LOVE).

On top of this and continuing into Saturday the 22nd, my friends and I had a Secret Santa going, but, like always, everyone knew who they had prior to gift giving (same with my advisory). My friends and I also gave each other gifts just because we could. I also had a party with three of my closest friends where we had a Yankee Swap, watched Project X, Almost Famous and The Sixth Sense. We also had a great spread of food. I spent all day cleaning up the house so it could happen. It was lots of fun and began my sleepless journey to Christmas day. It also gave me some appreciation for my wonderful friends since there was some drama surrounding another one of my friends who is no longer my friend to say the least. The night really got me over it.

This is what I got from that:

(F.Y.I. For anyone who doesn't know what a Yankee Swap or Secret Santa is, here are some definitions.

YANKEE SWAP- A form of gift-giving where each person brings in a gift (usually in a certain price range (my advisory- $5 with friends- $10)) and then you pick out numbers from a hat (depends on how many people). Every person in order of numbers gets to pick a gift with which they are allowed to "steal" or "swap" with the people who have already picked a gift (not one that hasn't been chosen). The first person gets to steal at the end.

SECRET SANTA- Very similar to a Yankee Swap, every person puts their name into a hat or some other device where they can choose randomly. They draw a name of which they must get a gift or a few gifts for (in a price range as well (with friends- $15 advisory- $1 across three gifts). If you get your own name in the drawing you must put it aside so you can actually get a person that's not yourself. The person you have is supposed to remain secret until a certain day or decided time or occasion where it is revealed.

These are all both very fun especially for those my age. They are also great for parties (especially Yankee Swap).)

(From left to right) On the top row, first are the gifts I got from my friend Jocelyn (I'm sure most are familiar with her by now). One is a book she made of pictures from Quebec City (I shall treasure it FOREVER! It must never get ruined!) and the other is a comb on a necklace (Uhhh... long story). Next to it are gifts I got from my friends Victoria and Margaret, these are a pinwheel, silly bands and One Direction trading cards (just... don't ask unless you must). On the bottom row (still left to right), first we have the card and gifts I got from my friend Amelia from college. I absolutely love the card since it is Disney themed and has quotes from Almost Famous (fantastic movie I might add), but she also got me The Green Mile (one of my all-time faves) and 1408 (a have-to-see). She also got me the Salem's Lot remake, but I'm planning on returning that so it is not here (This was also on Christmas Eve and yes, I did go to church). Then, next to that is The Sixth Sense, which I got from the Yankee Swap when Jocelyn got that with a pillow pet and I got Never Say Never (Justin Bieber movie) so we switched. Everyone was happy!

Before this, we also exchanged gifts among my family. There wasn't anything grand or great about that, but it's always a nice time since it's one of the rare occasions where everyone is in the house and in the same room. My sisters and I all got gifts for each other and then each of us got a gift from our parents.

Here is what I got:

9FEC310B-31E7-4C11-9000-45DEAA53A151-930-00000075976944F1.jpg

(From left to right) While out shopping for my Yankee Swap gift in advisory (I bought The Princess Bride), I snagged two other presents which I kinda counted as gifts from my mother, these are Walk The Line (just watched it, fantastic movie!) and The Shawshank Redemption (C-LASSIC!). For the formal gift, I got a new sweatshirt, which I originally thought to be too small, but after deliberation, decided it fits nonetheless. I got from youngest sister (DYS), a $25 Disney Gift Card (going to be the death of me at some point) and then from my other sister (the older of the two, DOS) gave a combined gift to me and my sister of a Frozen Yogurt Machine (I'm not a fan, but I decided I would try it out after I mentioned the fact I'm not a fan... ): )

After this (on Christmas Eve Eve (Sunday) and Christmas Day), I also got to go visit my mom's family and my dad's family (aunts, uncles and cousins abound!). It was really great seeing them all, we always have a great time. Sadly, both of my parents got sick when these happened. My dad was sick through most of the days leading up to Christmas so he missed it when we went to my aunt's house (mom's older sister) and my mom missed the party at my uncle's house (dad's younger brother). It was quite a sick week leading up to Christmas considering DYS and I both got sick in the weeks prior. We still enjoyed ourselves though we always had one of our parent's in mind while at the party.

Here is what I got from those occasions:

414840DA-0677-48A6-986F-FDFCAC97C4CB-930-00000075B0CC6468.jpg

I'm sure you can read the titles so it doesn't matter. From my aunt whose house the party was at I got Slumdog Millionaire (EXTREMELY UNDERRATED), Zombieland (TWINKIES!!! <3) and a Quentin Tarantino collection, which consisted of Pulp Fiction (Pure epicness!), Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown (both of which I need to see). From my uncle (mom's younger brother) I got cologne and a bag to go with it, but those are on the return route too sadly (I don't wear cologne). From my aunt (my dad's only younger sister) I got this fifty classic movie musicals set which may or may not be on the return route (at this point it seems likely) and a jacket (not my style, on return route maybe). I never got to see my aunt (dad's older sister) who had gifts for my sister DOS and I. So... yes, there is still more to come.

Now, for the big day!

I was up all night before Christmas like always. Yes, I was in bed and slept a little, but I'm like a Christmas fanatic. I do it all old school even though I'm a teenager who's supposed to sleep in I'm always up first. I was up earlier than ever this year since I had a very enthusiastic DYS who planned for 3am. I was up at 2am and snuck downstairs to see what I got. I gave a quick breeze through, where I came upon an interesting box that said "For those who look early" (Santa has a familiar sense of humor (; ). Satisfied, I went upstairs and waited out the hour (longest hour of my life!) and then woke up my DYS at exactly 3am where she proceeded to get my mom, my dad and DOS up. It was time for the true unwrapping.

Let us begin!

I first grabbed my stocking which was filled with a ton of goodies and a $10 iTunes gift card (pictured separately)! But I just love looking at the stocking with or without the candy so here it is for those who haven't seen it:

2DD87444-2D0F-4164-9727-C130B52E8276-930-0000007610472058.jpg

I then entered into our living room where our Christmas tree was already bright and lit up by the time I entered, all of our gifts set up ever so nicely in our proper places (mine on the far corner of the couch, my sisters on the ground in order of age from where my stuff was). First, I came upon the movies my latest obsession which began my Christmas conniption. I'm sure you'll see why...

32B1E609-3C29-4CFE-BDE0-47CD71C69494-930-00000075E1F38308.jpg

Yup, Cinderella and The King's Speech, two of my all-time faves. Then behind it, you see the iTunes gift card and some custom made headphones that are so cool they are in a custom box with a bag, extra little squeegy things that go on the headphones to make it comfy. I was in Euphoria and not even all the way through the gifts.

Next, I came upon the literary section...

Like there was going to be any less, PSH! I saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower earlier this year and had been meaning to get the book. So happy to finally get it along with the complete Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm reading The Hobbit in earnest of the movie coming out (the cartoon version of which I watched many a-time as a child). Another great year for the authors! Hear, hear!

Then, the omnipresent clothing...

Only two... well three (*wink, wink*) who can are able to buy me clothing I will wear (I am EXTREMELY picky even among the clothes I like) and these are my mom, my aunt (dad's older sister) and Santa Claus. This year was no exception. Pictured here is another sweatshirt (MAJOR necessity) and pajama pants (there were two pairs, but I've already gotten use out of one). There was also a pajama shirt, but I don't usually wear long sleeves to bed anymore and I have enough shirts as is (minority of which I use), but it wasn't for me. On the return train it shall go.

EDIT: I also got an electronic toothbrush like everyone else, put that one to early use and I'm sure everyone's seen a Sonicare brush, it's nothing special.

It's time... for... THE BIG ONE! Like on my birthday, I get one big gift from Santa usually out of a list. This year I gave him three: A Camera, A Camcorder and an iPhone. Of which of the three I wanted more... it was hard to decide, but I'm sure I was guaranteed at least one of the three (or two, god willing). I kinda hinted to this already, but crazily enough this was actually all hidden in the "For those who look early" box, which was the only thing I hadn't looked at. Before I post the picture, does anyone have any guesses to which of the three I got?

Nope.

Well, when I finally opened the box, my mom sneering in the background, I discovered...

E383DA43-7D75-4575-87B1-D96DACCDFD95-930-0000007601D55AA7.jpg

AN IPHONE! (and not pictured, A CASE!) I seriously was shaking at this point. Out of the three, I think this was the one that was long-awaited. I had wanted one since my sixteenth birthday (obviously not getting one then) and now I had one. Even though I still don't have a nice camera (I think I'll probably get my old one fixed) or a camcorder, the iPhone has BOTH (almost of the same quality of the camera)! It was pretty much destiny I get my iPhone. And I'm very happy with it.

Now, to fill in the gaps of the rest of that morning, I stayed up only a little while longer just setting up the iPhone (DOS and my dad set it up so it could be used as a phone instead of my semi-equally capable LG Octane). I went to bed around the time DYS was having the time of her life with her cupcake maker (the frosting was basically pure hardened sugar = DELICIOUS (and extremely hungry/hyper Timmy!)). I proceeded to wake up only three hours later (Yeah, like there is no sleeping in Disney, no sleeping on Christmas day!) and came downstairs to find my dad watching the Bing Crosby movie I recorded (of which was just ending), Going My Way. Before the party that day, I watched that and was once again softened by Bing Crosby and his BariBass tones and a shocking set of acting pipes. Very good movie for anyone who is into B&W, Golden Age, Classic Hollywood musicals (a la Singin' In The Rain).

Then, we had the party, came home and went to sleep (again, a late night). Christmas always feels like two days to me and this is not me thinking of the previous day because NOTHING happened on Christmas Eve this year, so it was really weird putting these days together. Here is a chronological list of the chain of events this Christmastime:

Week of 12/21/12 (aka THE APOCALYPSE, proud to say I survived): Advisory Yankee Swap, Advisory Secret Santa, Friends Secret Santa, Gift From DYS and Gifts From Jocelyn, Victoria and Margaret- Last Day of School
12/22/12: Party with Friends, Party/Friends Yankee Swap, Comb on a Necklace from Jocelyn
12/23/12: Party at Aunt's House (Mom's side of the family), Dad Getting Sick
12/24/12: Staying Home, Church, Dad Still Stick, Gifts From Amelia- Christmas Eve
12/25/12: Early Christmas Morning (Santa's Arrival), IPHONE, Party at Uncle's House (Dad's side of the family), Mom Getting Sick, Weird Two Days For The Price of One- Christmas Day

I'm pretty sure I'm not missing anything. Any clarification just ask.

Overall, this year was a great Christmas. I've always loved Christmas since a child and have never failed to celebrate it the same way. That is the reason I plan to always come back home for Christmas even at college because there truly is nothing like it. It's really been these years that have made me come to appreciate these moments and I'm sure it will be a sob fest next year (aka Graduation!). I do still hope to be in Disney one day around Christmastime since it will combine my two favorite things in the world there until that day I can still appreciate the home. Christmas and the message it entails becomes more and more evident every year and now I feel it is just a time for joy and renewal, a sort of yearly Renaissance where you can let your cares float away and just enjoy yourself. You can appreciate everything more deeply as it all comes into focus. Some people may think it is just commercialized crap, but those people must be sad, sad folks because to see that and not see this is a shame. What I'm trying to say here is appreciate every moment as much as you can because there really is a lot to see and envelop yourself in, in the memory, the moment, everything.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! And if I don't post anything for awhile, I hope you all have a great Christmas! Did anyone watch the parade? I just watched it today on the DVR, but who else thought Newsies stole the show once again? :D

Hope you all have a magical day! And just in case, I neglect to say this, and an even more wonderful New Year!

IF ONLY LIFE WERE SIMPLE!

Yeah, real-life... not exactly my favorite thing at this moment, but when is it ever? I won't bore you with any of the details since it really is stupid, but let's just say it's been an emotional roller coaster for awhile now with extreme highs and lows. And while the highs may make up for the lows, the lows just seem to linger and are just sad being there knowing what life can throw at you. I really hope something turns around so I can get past all the problems the lows have given me. But again, I won't go into the details.

I won't keep you wondering about the highs though since I think some of them you'll be very happy to hear about. First, I finally got use out of my Disney Gift Card. It literally took me a month until I actually made a decision on what to do with the darn thing. I originally was going to get a Mickey Santa Claus Hat since mine disappeared for a good part of the holiday, but it sold out right when the price dropped to where I could've bought it. So instead, I got me some pins. With the over-a-year long Disney depression, I've had major pin trading withdrawal so I needed some pins. After taking another month to make that decision, I finally put down the payment for two new pins.

After buying them, I waited almost a week for their arrival. Then, the day they arrived came and I was home by myself when I found the box so... to say the least... my instagram went a little crazy and I went a little crazy, but I was easily the happiest person alive. I think the whole episode may have been borderline panic attack if it weren't for the fact I was excited and overjoyed not anxious. I documented the whole thing and like my instagram/Twitter followers, I'm sure you can appreciate the little Disney touches that made this day so great, so here is the whole unwrapping of the package step-by-step...

I am pretty sure I had a dance party to three Disney songs in a row or something like that while this was happening. Yeah, if anyone needs a Disney trip it's THIS GUY!

I also have gotten more groundbreaking news in when my next Disney trip will be. It's coming since I do plan to have one during my Senior year or following graduation or both, if money allows. But it may come in a way I didn't expect. Time for another random side story!

So, I was just enjoying my lunch with two friends when my forever-mentioned friend, Jocelyn comes barging into the writing center room where we were eating. She's all smiles and panting excitedly. I was taken aback a little when she told us that during her advisory period today, her advisor discussed with her advisory about the possibility of the music department going back to Disney next year! Now, for those of you who didn't get to read my last TR when I went to Disney with the band and chorus, I mentioned how this trip only came every four years which meant freshman year was the only year I'd be able to go with them. But now, they have decided to go back sooner than expected, which is monumental! And the best thing is my crew from the original trip will be reunited, you know... these guys...

146.jpg

Yeah and plus one! One of my closest friends of the past few years will also be joining us! Oh I'm so ecstatic, but none of us have heard about whether or not this trip is officially a go. It's just adding more fuel to my fire for what I'm seeing as a fantastic year for me, Senior year is going to be the most beast year ever! ::yes::

In other news, just got hit by a huge blizzard by the alleged name of NEMO this weekend, here is what it looked like this morning when the snow was falling and the wind was whipping. Luckily did not lose power!

I hope everyone in the harder hit areas stayed safe. I know we got the lesser bout of the storm so I hope those in Massachussets and elsewhere made it out fine. (:

Oh and I apologize for the updates being so scattered nowadays. I am so busy and caught in such a whirlwind right now I have very little time for most anything but what I have to do. I will try to fit in some more updates since I did promise trip videos of Quebec and NYC, but it may not be for awhile.

Have a Magical Day! :mickeyjum

IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT

I'll just cut to the chase on this update since I'm sure most have been anxious to hear about this so...

I'M GOING BACK TO DISNEY NEXT YEAR OFFICIALLY!!!

And guess what else? I'm going back with the Chorus & Band as part of my last big high school trip. It's pretty cool considering I didn't think I'd be going back again to PERFORM IN DISNEY AGAIN! But I went as a Freshman just joining the High School camaraderie and now I'm going again as a Senior leaving for college. It's going to be a really special trip and I'm so excited.

For a PTR, I'm not going to start one right away since I'm trying to focus on the NYC trip which is less than two months away. Once that is over, I'll get right onto the PTR. It will be an entirely new PTR so it will probably happen right when I shut this one down. And I think I'll write something about the NYC trip for any person interested, well once I'm well into that PTR. I still need to make the videos for my other NYC trip and the Quebec trip so the PTR maybe held off for some time. Just wanted to share my excitement with you all! I would ask for recommendations on anything new I may not know about having been Disney deprived for... exactly two years now! WOW! Yeah, maybe I need some recs here.

Before, I'll give some sneak peak little deets on this trip. So far, it seems this trip will be a whole new cast and backdrop. None of the upperclassmen who I was with on the first trip will be with me along with some others. Nathan, who was going to be a true member of a supposed graduation trip that had no date, may not be coming any longer since his school schedule is far different than mine. I'm hoping he'll be coming, but as of now, it seems... unlikely. Then, Rishi, who had hung out with Nate on the previous trip, won't be involved either since he left Band the same year I took a "hiatus" from chorus. And basically that whole Freshmen class I had gone with is no longer in chorus either. Taylor, one of the main members in my group, also backed out already from the idea. But otherwise, the other people I hung out on the last trip will be back (Trysten, Tina, Jocelyn, etc.) and we have some new members like my sister might be joining us as well as maybe some other underclassmen. There also may be the possibility of an extended stay into the rest of the vacation week with some non-park time since I really want to check out the resorts (AoA), some of the new Downtown Disney places and just enjoy Disney for everything not just the four main parks even though there is so much I need to see there too, but that's for the PTR. (;

Will be catching up on all the TRs I've fallen behind on again. This year is crazy and I just got out of spirit week (which is literally insanity) and now I'm on vacation with an extended due date on an important research paper. So, this is advanced notice, I most likely will only be making infrequent comments.

Hope all is well! :mickeyjum

Joining in! I'm a HS Junior, too and I hate it!! The word load is insane and it's such a stressful year.
So glad to hear you have plans to go back to Disney.

:welcome: Thanks for reading along! It makes me so happy to know someone is still reading this old thing! Junior year is honestly the worst year I've ever had to experience. I just want it to be over because I know the summer is going to be FANTASTIC (oh then there are college apps, AP summer work, etc.... nvm). But yeah, so happy to have those plans intact ::yes::

This year is crazy and I just got out of spirit week (which is literally insanity) and now I'm on vacation with an extended due date on an important research paper. So, this is advanced notice, I most likely will only be making infrequent comments.

Hope all is well! :mickeyjum

Yay for you Timmy!:cheer2:
So happy to hear your dream of going back to Disney will be coming true. Didn't realize you were going to NYC again, must have missed that. I haven't kept up too well on any of my favorites but may have more time now.
My situation ended sadly, as we knew it would but as said in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
"1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die;"

Anyway, I too am planning a trip, either during the F&W or close to Christmas. But your trip sounds like it will be great! So happy at least Jocelyn is going back with you too.

By the way your print color is brutal on old eyes.:rotfl:

Can't wait to read more on your PTR and on your next trip to NYC!

p.s. I saw your Tink pin and I have one too! Love some Tink!
