Welcome Dee and family!!

Manny, what is going on with the Pope? Guess I'm a little disconnected...:scared1:

Welcome Dee and family!!

Manny, what is going on with the Pope? Guess I'm a little disconnected...:scared1:

The Pope is programed to visit Madrid on the World Youth Day encounter. It's a mayor Catholic event. This is to take place Aug 16-21; the very same week we are ment to go on The Magic; therefore affecting flights and hotel availability drastically. Barcelona is a city that is only 3 hours away by train from Madrid making it a good place for pilgrims to stay. Considering that it's a youth thing; low budget hotels and/or large room hotels will be full at no time. Attendance is espected to be massive also affecting all tourist attractions.

http://www.madrid11.com/

To put it in perspective for all, it's like the World Cup final (England - Germany final in London), or the Super Bowl (Miami Dolphins vs. Texas Cowboys in Miami); or for you Tracy/DD: The Winter Olimpics in Lake Placid, NY/Toronto in Ice Hokey Final/Ski Marathon/Long Jump/etc on the same week. :crowded:

Or for some of us: a free beer all you can drink anywhere.:drinking1

Tracy, I saw a FB comment that you had some kind of an accident :crutches: I hope you get well soon.

Also MAZA posted she is in :crutches: Wishing her to get better.

Remember, the tour excursions will require A LOT OF WALKING Plus all the walking you do on the ship. :dance3:

My most sincere condolences to the people of Japan and to anyone touched by this very unfortunate situation.

Some good news in the middle of it all.

This is from The Diss in Facebook:

Tokyo Disney impacted by earthquake
by Leah Zanolla
Mar 12, 2011

After an 8.9 magnitude earthquake Friday, Tokyo Disney Resort is working to make the situation as easy as possible for guests. Only minor injuries have been reported and there is minimal damage to the property. Because of lack of transportation, many guests spent the night at the Disney theme park. Cast members have provided blankets, food and water for these guests. The parks will remain closed on Saturday as inspections on the properties continue.

Disney Cruise Line's ship, the Wonder, is currently in the middle of a Mexican Riviera cruise. The ship spent an extra day at sea instead of docking at Cabo San Lucas Friday due to the rough waters after the earthquake. No other itinerary changes have been announced; the ship should return to the Port of Los Angeles Sunday as planned.

There were no effects from the earthquake at Disney Vacation Club's newest resort, Aulani. Aulani is currently under construction in Ko Olina, Hawaii and is set to open in August.

Thanks for the updates Manny. Hopefully the pope thing doesn't make the whole area too crazy! What a week to be a tourist!:rotfl:

Thanks for the well-wishes. My thing with my leg is not that big a deal, just some small trouble that doesn't affect my day to day but I run marathons and it's bothering me to run. So no worries, I'll be able to walk all over Europe!

And Manny, I sure hope you get your arm back too!:rolleyes1

I'm very glad it's no big deal about your leg. :goodvibes

I'm going to need some of that marathon mentality at some point during the excursions. Usually when I see the first bar I just don't want to move any more. That's what happened on our last cruise while in Key West; I found this wanderfull Pirate Bar, sat down and spent the whole afternoon there while DW and DD went shopping. :rotfl2:

My arm is growing back specially after I saw the air tickets. It says two bags 23 kg and one carry on 10 kg for each one of us. That's pretty good luggage policy. Could some one let me know compared to your tickets if this is actually good or just standar trans-atlatic policy ? :confused3

Also we have two meals included: one dinner and one breakfas each way. ;)

At this time all I need is to book post-cruise hotel for two nights and the pre-cruise train trip from Madrid to Barcelona. :dance3:

Please count us in, DW :drinking and Me :drinking Mel; and we vote for doing it on thursday our very only lonely sea day.

Also for the "newbies" could you please specify what a Cocktail Mixology is ? party:

I'll just add the No. 1 rule: No children or anyone below 21. That's The Magic's alcohol drinking age limit.

Nice cocktail glass ! :woohoo:

You're on the list Manny and Kathy :thumbsup2

Hmmm I will try and find a description for Cocktail Mixology but If I can remember rightly it shows you how to make 3-4 popular cocktails and you get to drink what you make :banana::banana:

Good idea about the golden rule too :thumbsup2

Flights, Manny: I paid around $1150 each roundtrip from the US, so just about the same you paid. I just looked at our luggage allowances last night (so funny you should ask!) and we're each allowed a 50 lb bag...I'm not sure how that translates to kg but I imagine it's probably close. I did NOT realize they will weigh my carry-on!:scared1: That's usually where I put overflow stuff too heavy for my suitcase (shoes, etc.)...

Tracy using a Google weigh converter it came out to 23 kg = 50 pounds

So if my math is right we have 2 bags each at 23 kg each that come out to 100 pounds X 3 passengers plus carry on. This is an economy ticket or coach.

One thing you need to consider is your return home with all the shopping and FEE stuff you will get. :)

If anyone is interested in the Rome tour that Bats (on the Dibb) is organising, can you send me a PM. There are three places available. The tour is 122 euros per person and far cheaper than the same one being organised by Disney.

My DS and DH have now decided that they don't want to do this tour. So I need to find someone to take our places. Otherwise I will have to drag them kicking and screaming onto the tour.:scared1:

DCL posted Palma excursions, without pictures. no biggie, just google it and you will get the details.

We are so doing the Gracco Caves. :cool1:

:cheer2: Happy Five Months to Go Day Folks. :cheer2:

Isn't it exiting. :yay: I hope you have all your plans figured out. At least in your minds.

Wishing everyone a wanderfull day today, and think about that special moment as you walk in the ship. pixiedust:

Hi Manny:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Its 3.30pm here in the UK - so I guess by now we would be getting ready for our boat drill, having had a lovely lunch (I am hoping to get there really early this time so that we can enjoy lunch inside rather than on deck!!!:yay:)

I have spent this weekend really looking into our sightseeing plans:thumbsup2 The problem is that I want to do so much, and can't fit it all in!!!:lmao:

We are doing a tour of Rome with some people from the boards, so that is all sorted and very exciting!! So its just everything else I need to decide!!! - I am thinking of the DCL value tour of Nice and Monaco, as I can't decide between the two!:goodvibes

DH (Steve) is going to take DS7 (Kai) to climb Pisa and I am staying on the Ship with DS4 (Lucas) - not sure how they are getting there though yet???;)

Finally Steve has decided he wants to go to Pompeii - so I think I will be missing out on Capri and the Amalfi coast :sad1:;)as I really think the boys will have had enough sighseeing by then!!!

And we are going to stay onboard the ship in Mallorca as I do want to see a little bit of the Magic before we go home!!:)

How are your plans??

Hi Amy :flower3:

We are planning to do as much as possible. :cool1:

On France we will do Monaco, Monter Carlo and Eze. On La Spezia we are planning on going to Pisa then just hang out in La Spezia; we want to rent some scooters or a Biro (electric small like golf cars) and just enjoy the town. Rome we want to do as much as possible. Also for Naples, Capri, Pompei. And on Palma we want to do the Gracco Caves and then return early to the ship.

It sounds good in my mind. Let's hope everything goes as planned. :dance3:

Just doing a little spring cleaning here on the thread; being buried in page 5 and all.

I guess everyone is very busy, hopefully getting readdy for the cruise.

We are like 90% readdy. Just need to book one City Tour in Madrid, one City Tour in Barcelona and the Monserratt trip. Also need the train transportation form Madrid to Barcelona.

I was wandering if anyone knows of some famous music group (concert) that might be playin in Barcelona for those day we are going to be there (Aug 16-19 and Aug 27-28) I'd really like to go to a nice concert; Opera, Rock, Philarmonic; anything.

I know Roger Water (Pink Floyd) has a concert in Barcelona this year, but it won't be in August.

Anyway, if anyone knows something please tell me.

Just a reminder of the due date of June 1st. to join/participate/etc most of the extra activities/stuff for all Euro Mouseketeers.

Tic Toc, Tic Toc, Tic Toc....... :hourglass

Pinch Punch First Day of the Month. :goodvibes

It's quite lonely here where did everyone go ? :sail: It's like when I started the thread waaay back in Jan 2010. :bored:

As true Mouseketeers there is a song we all need to learn by heart.

That would be the Mickey Mouse Club song. ::MickeyMo
