Epcot's Universe of Energy

We are taking our just turned 4 and soon to be 6 year old to Disney. We are pre-planning the attractions we want to see and I am needing opinions on the Universe of Engergy attraction in Epcot. My kids aren't total scaredy-cats, but there not the most brave either. Can anybody share their experiences with their kids (around the same age) for this attraction? Thanks!!

Except for the dinos, there really isn't too much else scary-but it is very longggg for little ones.

My kids(now 7 &4) are not the bravest kids either(they both flipped out last year on ITTBAB), but UoE has been a big hit with them for quite a few years now. The youngest used to sleep through it, but what he has seen he likes.

Our kids were 3 and 5 on our visit. The volume (too loud) of parts of it was more of an issue with them than it being scary.

My 4-year-old daughter enjoyed Universe of Energy. It got a little loud for her, but that was about it. She loves dinosaurs, though, so I'm sure that helped. Even then, it did get a bit long for her, but she loved seeing the dinosaurs.

We loved this ride (my son is 8.) Its not scary at all. The dinosaurs are more the placid plant eaters. It is 37 minutes long which might be a bit much for your younger child.

Also I wouldn't advise "Honey I shrunk the Audience" for your family. Although we loved it, it has a huge snake and lion 3D which could be too intense for little ones.

Definitely not scary. Its actually quite funny. But it is loud in spots. The little ones usually wind up holding their ears.

My son has enjoyed it since he saw it the first time when he was 5. He is 11 now.

Its a family favorite here, and a must do every trip.

If your kids aren't big 3d movie fan, try having them not wear the glasses. That worked with my son.

I don't remember anything 3D in universe of energy??

This is DS8's favorite attraction at Epcot. Not scary at all. Kind of funny actually. It's long thoug, the whole thing takes more than 30minutes but that's part of what we love about it.

The attraction starts with a movie that might be a bit boring, but once you get to the dinosaurs, it's great. My 6 year old got a little scared two times. Once was when the theatre went pitch black for a moment and the other time was during the volcano explosion. It was very loud. These both occured towards the end of the movie.

I think that it is great for your age children. We have friends that have a child that thinks this is the dinosaur ride.(think AK) It is a little long but the movement and changes make it fun for even a little one. Just be sure to potty before entering.

Ooops. I should have been clearer. You're right, there is no 3d in Ellen. I was refering to this earlier comment about kids being scared in 3d movies.

Our kids are 6 and 4. The one dark ride that they freaked out on last year was UOE. I thought it would be no problem, but I think it was just because the dino sequence was so darn loud

You should know before going that this attraction is very "evolution-themed". I don't think it is scary, but we skip it because we don't want our children exposed to the evolution theme.

I don't think the dinosaurs are particularly scary, but the ride (as an earlier poster pointed out) is quite long, which may work against you with young children. Also, the films are a little adult-oriented, and (in my opinion), sometimes a bit dull.

It is worth seeing though, so I think you should try it. The dinosaurs and the unique traveling theatre make up for the film pieces.

Without getting into an argument here, Is hould point out, that the film is an entertaining look at scientific theories that only puts forth the same scientific theories all children need to learn to pass their science classes.

Most little kids will be bored by the film, older kids will think its really neat and probably enjoy telling their teachers all the neat stuff they learned.

To each their own, I guess. I am not religious but my neice and her mother are and this is DNs favorite Epcot ride (she's 11).
