epcot phone booths not working

I just saw a picture on Facebook on the phone booths getting loaded onto a truck. I'm headed to Epcot a little later today for work, I'll try and swing by and see what's up.

Oh Nooooooooo! :sad1:

Just got back. I am pretty sure they are still there but not 100%. But I can say the one is still in Canada and that one is working fine.

My kids played with the one in the UK about 8 days ago. If they were removed, it was super recent!

Knowing the over-sensitive society we live in, someone probably got a little carried away with a prank call, "scarred someone for life", and some guest probably threatened to sue Disney so the booths were just removed.

We always have fun with those phone booths! Hoping for an update soon.

We do too, though we only call the booths when we're actually in the park and wanting to speak with unsuspecting members of our party. It is somewhat bizarre and creepy that people would choose to call from home to talk with strangers in the park. If my teenage daughter picked up the phone and it was a stranger calling from outside the park, I certainly wouldn't want her to talk with them regardless of how innocent they might be.

One of my best memories of our last trip when when dh (he didn't travel with us) called from home to talk to dd in the phone booth. Of course, I arranged this to happen with calling him on my cell and told him to call the booth number right now so she'd answer. She thought it was the coolest thing ever to talk to dad on the UK phone! I was hoping to do the same trick on our upcoming trip.

A very plausible theory. Wouldn't be surprised if you were correct. :rolleyes2

I've been wondering about this since our October trip! We were wandering around near the England phone booths one night and one of them rang. My hubby, quite the jokester, picked it up and was surprised to find someone with a British accent on the line asking about tea?!?! He can hold a conversation with anyone, so they chatted on and on for a while. The girls thought it was hysterical! :rotfl2:

I'm meeting some folks from another Disney board there Wednesday and I'll have to check on the phones then.

BWAAAA! Actually made me laugh out loud!

My daughter loves to call the booths at Epcot. I hope they start working again soon!

We have a lot of fun with these phone booths. We took my mom on her birthday and arranged to have my brother and sister call her (at two separate booths) to wish her a happy birthday. She was so shocked that they were able to call. It was a great surprise!

We also have called while in the park to talk to whomever is taking a picture. People have always been really good sports (didn't realize it would come across as creepy :confused3). We usually make a quick friend, and they ask for the number so they can call the next unsuspecting guest. I think it is all in good fun. I hope people didn't take it too far and ruin it.

Waiting for an update. I have never called them but would love to try.

I hope someone can give us an update on the status of the phones. I'm taking my 4 and 6 year old nephews in May. I was hoping to have their mom call them as she will be at home studying for nursing finals. I thought it would be a nice treat for them and their mom.

Just dialed all 3 UK #'s and got busy signal.
The Canada number made the fax machine sound....

Just tried the three numbes I have and I got the "sorry your call can not go through at this time" recording. Hope it is fixed soon, such a fun way to kill time while waiting in the park.
