epcot passports what are they for?

I keep seeing the epcot passports. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but this will be our first Disneyworld trip. Can anyone tell me what the epcot passports are used for?

The passports are used to get stamps from each of the countries at the kidcot stations. The cast memebers from the country write a message in their native language and stamp the passport. It's a fun little keepsake for the trip.

My wife went one step further. She got autographs from different Cast members, even some of the sales reps at the DVC info booth. The were like, 'wow, no ones ever asked for our autographs before"
