I knew there was reason I'm looking forward to October.

Thanx.

Thanks for posting. Do you happen to know if the items change very much from year to year?

I can't wait to go, but I'm not a very adventurous eater.

Ahhh...good memories, LOL! I tried almost all of those items at last year's Food and Wine. Wish I could go back this year...

You're welcome. No, I don't know how much they change from one year to the next. Maybe someone else does. I'm hoping they only increase the selections and don't cutback on what is offered. :D

Thanks for posting! Even though it is 2002's, it gives us an idea what the Festival offers!

Yeah, sure, I am all hungry, going in Novemeber, and see that title, and no one cares about my dissapointment.

The items do change, there are always some favorites, but there are usually new things also. This is really our favorite time to visit, the crowds are low, the DVC points are low, the weather is nice, the FWF is just a bonus.

We were at the first one and have only missed two since it began. It has gotten bigger and bigger with more booths and stands each year. We definitely skip a few meals by eating around the world. There are some things that will always be there, lefse, chedder cheese soup, egg rolls, and others, but there are also new things to find each time.

I guess the FWF has turned out to be a big draw, since it has been going on, that season has been upped in class at the hotels.

Mm-mm. The 1st and last time I experienced the Food & Wine Festival was back in 1997. My whole family loved it and we are looking forward to this year. It was fun drinking wine around the world.

I printed this out to show my mom (who will be joining us on a big family trip). She'll love to look at it.

YEE HAW. If this years selection of foods is anything like last years, I alreay have my fork and knife in hand. Can't wait to get there.
Will be my first time.

For those of you who have been there before do you know what types of cooking seminars or demonstrations are offered? Billybaruch1 Do you still have last years events schedule somewhere? If so can you please post it so I can get an idea of what else to expect than just gaining 20 LBS! If not Can someone please tell me?

We'll be there for the very first time, in early November, and this has really gotten me psyched (after I shed a tear for poor, suffering, Richyams, of course). We've never been to Disney at this time of year, and it just sort of 'happened' that we don't want to wait until next year to see Disney. FWF wasn't a deciding factor, but now I'm really looking forward to it. Hope it's not TOO tempting, since DH and I need to lose weight, not pig out.

MzCohen,

There are tons of different seminars and demonstrations occuring each day, in addition to the booths, classes and "special events".

Just some of the events include:

Wine Seminars - located at Odyssey or The Terrace, 45 minutes
Culinary Demonstrations - located at The Terrace, 30 minutes
"From Vine to Wine" - 30 minute Mondavi presentations throughout the day
The History of Beer in America - 30 minutes Samuel Adams presentations throughout the day

An example of the Wine Seminars & Culinary Demonstrations from one day last year:

11:00 am - Wine Seminar, Treana Winery/Liberty School Winery
12:00 pm - Culinary Demo, Bobby Flay, Mesa Grill
12:30 pm - Wine Seminar, Champagne Pommery
1:00 pm - Wine Seminar, Domaine Chandon
2:00 pm - Wine Seminar, Vina Undurraga
2:00 pm - Culinary Demo, Pepe Marin, Spain
3:00 pm - Wine Seminar, Gloria Ferrer Champagne Caves
3:30 pm - Wine Seminar, DeLoach Vineyards
4:00 pm - Culinary Demo, FLA Dept of Aquaculture and Citrus
5:00 pm - Wine Seminar, Bertani/Palm Bay
5:00 pm - Wine Seminar, Piper Heidsieck
5:30 pm - Culinary Demo, The Mad Chef, Jon Ashton

Each day had a schedule similar to this.

Got this from the WDWIG site:
Reserve Dinners, for an elite dining experience that marries great wines and food and includes VIP viewing of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” Thursdays and Fridays, at the Wonders of Life pavilion VIP Dining Room.

Can anyone tell me about this?

DH and I sampled almost everything listed last year and can hardly stand the wait till we go this November. It is our absolute favorite time to go to WDW!!!!!!!

I hope someone can, and will they please speak up?

I have to say a lot of this is over my head or beyond my palate. I mean I get lost when they talk about nose and so forth, but I'm only expressing my ignorance at the subtle distinctions made by wine connoisseurs.

Regarding last year's Signature (Reserve Winemaker) Dinners:

"All in all, we had a wonderful time. Was it worth the $100 per person entry fee? Yes, absolutely. It was not a perfect meal in our opinion, but the combination of wine, food, atmosphere, and talks made it a fun evening despite the transportation problem. We would not hesitate to do such a dinner again if we could be assured of arriving on time, and next year we will be making this desire well known in advance."

StaceyA, you can find this at http://wdwig.com/fw2002_sig.htm

Enjoy! :D

Bill

Thanks for the info!

We will be there in November also. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices are all very reasonable. I was wondering for those who have been, how big are the portions? Are they enough for 2 people to try a bite or 2? Also, how big are the drinks, are they served in small Dixie type cups?

The samples around the world showcase are quite small as are the wine samples. Dh and I like the small size and still share most things just so we can try more items. Usually each item is several bites, but I quess that depends on how big your bites are. :) The wine is served in small hard plastic stemmed (very short stems) glasses and the portion is quite small. Still, it's a wonderful way to taste different wines, without having to worry about getting too loopy.:)

StaceyA & billy...

DW and I attended three of the special dinners last year, two Signature dinners and one Reserve dinner.

The Reserve dinner was themed "Great Reserve Wines of the Pacific Northwest". The food was designed to present flavors/recipes/ingredients found in the NW section of the US and the wineries represented were all from Oregon and Washington State.

I posted a review of this event last fall. I'd post a link to it but the search is disabled right now so I can't find it!

Let me know if you have any other questions. :D

I am originally from Oregon, I would love to do a special dinner like that when we are down at FWF in Nov. I know that there are some very good wines that come from The Pacific Northwest.
Oh Yum, I will be in Oregon in a couple of weeks, Maybe I will have to go on a winery tour with my Dad! ( have to start practicing for FWF)
