This is different from the hotel situation. Deluxe should have more perks at their resort than the mod/value and the beaches/pools should not be abused by non registered resort guests at any resort.
What the OP suggested (so long ago now) was not pool hopping in the slightest, so they're not abusing the pool. And standing around the beach watching EWP go by for 5 minutes hardly seems like "abuse" of the Poly beach to me. And this stuff about no one being able to view Wishes or EWP from the Poly beach but Poly guests themselves is not a Disney rule now, regardless of whether it was in the past. It may be a preference of some of those who are staying at the Poly, but it is not a Disney rule.
Not once, in the 2 + weeks I've stayed at the Poly, have I seen a situation where anyone, Poly guest or not, who wanted a chair or a place to stand on the beach to watch Wishes or the EWP could not be accommodated, easily. If the situation got out of hand, surely Disney would deal with it, as they have done with pool hopping. But it is NOT out of hand. Every time I've done this, everyone has been nice, appreciative, and most of all: they used common sense. No one was lounging on the "hammocks I paid for", or "taking beach chairs from paying Poly guests". No one left any trash that I could see. I did see people who neglected to put chairs back, but rather than assuming they were non-Poly people, I assumed that they WERE Poly guests who were swimming, brought the chairs over, and forgot to put them back. I always put them back myself.
What's next, banning the walkway that runs from GF to the Poly? Who gets banned from it? Poly guests? GF guests? What about that stretch of beach between the two resorts?
Folks, I'm all for rules that are based in common sense to protect people's investment in expensive vacations. But this "get these non-Poly people off this beach I paid for" stuff is ridiculous, when the only time these people ever come there is to watch Wishes and EWP, and then they're gone. I just never saw anything that remotely bothered me as a paying Poly guest about others standing on the beach to watch Wishes and EWP.
But when those non-Poly guests left, then I had the run of the dark beach all to myself. Boy, what a treat!
