This doesn't answer my question: how do you know this trash wasn't left by people staying at the Poly? Just because these non-Poly people had a picnic next to you doesn't tell me that all this trash left behind on NYE was left by non-Poly guests.

I would hope that ALL people could clean up after themselves better, Poly guests or not.[/QUO

Okay Steve...inquiring minds want to know...what the heck are you saying there under your screen name??? :teeth:

But, back to the topic at hand (and can't believe it is still a topic!!)...I find it hard to believe that Disney will ever institute a FP system based on the resort you are in. Yes, there should be extra resort perks for those who are paying more...deluxes have better restuarant choices, spas, health clubs etc. The values have clean rooms, decent pools and food courts...You get what you pay for. But....and this is the biggie fellow DISers...I would not be able to undertand giving special park perks to the deluxes. Sure, if you are staying on-site, you might be able to get 'x' number of FPs at your resort before you head to the parks...that would make sense. Then, those off-site folks would have to get theirs at the machines in the parks. Disney hands out perks to those staying in their resorts...that's the way it should be. Perks should not be given out depending on the resort you are in, for the time you are in the parks. plain and simple. I don't think we will see the previously mentioned system at WDW any time soon.

So.....I own DVC at BWV, I've stayed at deluxes before (including the Polynesian!), as well as POR and my favorite..POP. Can I afford something more expensive than POP when not staying on points? Sure. But, I choose to spend my money on 'better' dining..that sort of thing. Just for once, I would love to see someone complain that they couldn't sit at the Hippy Dippy Pool because there were people from the GF there, hogging all the 'good' seats!!!

And you would have every right to be upset if you are staying at the Pop and couldn't get a seat or the pool was too crowded because people from the GF or Poly or POFQ or CBR or any other resort was at your pool when YOU are the paying guest at Pop, not them. It works both ways. Also, I would never go over to CBR and sprawl out on the beach hammocks if I were not a guest of CRB. I think ppl took my earlier posts to mean that everyone should stay away from deluxe if you are not staying there and that is not what I meant. Shop and dine but please don't use pools and beaches if you are not a registered guest of the resort. Goes for value mods and deluxes, ie the hippy dippy pool, sab, poly beaches etc.

And as for the Fast pass situation, I don't think they should change it. everyone pays the same amount for park admission so it wouldn't be right to give deluxe more fps than mod/value or give mods more than value. This is different from the hotel situation. Deluxe should have more perks at their resort than the mod/value and the beaches/pools should not be abused by non registered resort guests at any resort.

What the OP suggested (so long ago now) was not pool hopping in the slightest, so they're not abusing the pool. And standing around the beach watching EWP go by for 5 minutes hardly seems like "abuse" of the Poly beach to me. And this stuff about no one being able to view Wishes or EWP from the Poly beach but Poly guests themselves is not a Disney rule now, regardless of whether it was in the past. It may be a preference of some of those who are staying at the Poly, but it is not a Disney rule.

Not once, in the 2 + weeks I've stayed at the Poly, have I seen a situation where anyone, Poly guest or not, who wanted a chair or a place to stand on the beach to watch Wishes or the EWP could not be accommodated, easily. If the situation got out of hand, surely Disney would deal with it, as they have done with pool hopping. But it is NOT out of hand. Every time I've done this, everyone has been nice, appreciative, and most of all: they used common sense. No one was lounging on the "hammocks I paid for", or "taking beach chairs from paying Poly guests". No one left any trash that I could see. I did see people who neglected to put chairs back, but rather than assuming they were non-Poly people, I assumed that they WERE Poly guests who were swimming, brought the chairs over, and forgot to put them back. I always put them back myself.

What's next, banning the walkway that runs from GF to the Poly? Who gets banned from it? Poly guests? GF guests? What about that stretch of beach between the two resorts?

Folks, I'm all for rules that are based in common sense to protect people's investment in expensive vacations. But this "get these non-Poly people off this beach I paid for" stuff is ridiculous, when the only time these people ever come there is to watch Wishes and EWP, and then they're gone. I just never saw anything that remotely bothered me as a paying Poly guest about others standing on the beach to watch Wishes and EWP. :confused3

But when those non-Poly guests left, then I had the run of the dark beach all to myself. Boy, what a treat!

This just goes to show how far jealousy and envy has taken over this topic and others like it. I've seen way too many threads or disscussions turn into economics and "who's got more than me" type of mentality. I think a lot of folks who stay at the deluxes are considered snobby or trying to exclude people and that's just wrong. The issue of access to the beaches has been debated to death and "we all get it" now. I seen comments about Ivory towers, eliteism, the little or common people, deluxe snobs, etc, etc, and it's just wrong.

I think a few members here need to take a good look at themselves in the mirror and find out why some comments have gotten so snarky and downright mean. Jealousy is a terrible thing and a step away from hate, IMO, and I don't fall into that trap. I don't judge people on what they have or don't have and it's none of my business. We shouldn't as Dis members be acting like this toward each other. It's very un Disney like and like I said before, you don't know a fellow members situation and how they pay to stay in a nice resort like the Poly and other deluxes. Class warfare is an ugly thing and some who play it should work to improve their own lifestyles and their own station in life. I' m done with what I had to say and I'll bet this thread is getting ready to close at any minute, as I speak.

Can we all treat each other with a little more respect and just work on helping others with their Disney experience? I think that's what the true Disney Magic is all about. That's my two cents on the matter and I'm out.

The bottom line (and I had to go back to the OPs post to make sure it was what it was!!) is....anyone can use the beach to stand on and watch the various shows. There is no longer any signage to the contrary. Yes, there may have been some in the past, but it's been gone for awhile..wasn't there the last few times I have been on the beach. The beach isn't all that terrific...you sure as heck don't want to put your feet in that lake....there's critters in there!!!
It's odd but you don't see anyone complaining about non-YC/BC people standing/sitting on 'their' beach. It really is a non-issue. Common courtesy should prevail...no matter where you are. :tink:

Great post. And how about the monorails and boats? Should people who aren't staying at the Poly/GF/CR have to stay off the monorail, too?

And, while we're at it, what if I have a PS at Ohana while a Poly guest is unable to get one?

The list goes on. I feel like as long as it's not a Disney rule, we should all try to be nice and share. There's more than enough Disney World for everyone! :)

I don't think jealousy has played any part in this thread, but that's just me. :confused3

I think a lot of incorrect assumptions have been made about other people on this thread, and that's a shame.
