Hi everybody,

I'm going to have a stay in All-Star Movie Resort next August and I would like to know if I would be able to watch Electrical Water Pageant from Polynesian 's beach even if I'm not registered there. Same question about Wishes fireworks...

Hope my english is clear enough. Thanks for your help.

Thierry (Marseille - France) :wave2:

Yes, we have done this quite a few times. It is a nice place to see both shows and can be relaxing if there aren't too many people around.

Hey, here is an idea...if you want to take advantage of the deluxe resort's ammenities, pony up the cash and stay there. Guests of the Polynesian pay a lot of money for the location. It should not be overrun by non-guests hanging out. :stir:

I'll add my name to this petition. :stir:

We stayed at the ASMu just on Monday night and went to the Poly for Wishes and the EWP. The EWP started running at the same time as Wishes, though, and both without any music or soundtrack. Even though it was busy Spring Break season, the beach wasn't that crowded so I didn't feel akward being there as a guest of another Disney resort. Keep in mind that if you drive there, you get a parking permit of three hours. I think it is totally acceptable for other guests to check out resorts they aren't staying at - to see the theming, shops, restaurants (I would never try to use the pool) - and to decide if they want to stay there on their next trip. For me, the resorts are half the fun at WDW! And I know how much it costs to stay there, so I am always respectful of the paying guests.

i say, i'm gonna have to agree with polyrules here. i find it very annoying when people encourage others to go take up chairs or cabanas at deluxe resorts to view fireworks or ewp. if you want the perks of the poly or gf or cr, etc. book a room and stay there. why take up chairs of the paying guests who are paying good $$$$ for their resort and the perks that go along with it???

i know this isn't the same as pool hopping which is another topic that pushes my buttons but if you want the perks, stay there!!! it is perfectly fine to visit other resorts and shop and eat there but not ok to be taking chairs etc from paying guests. if you want to watch wishes, go to the MK.

i can't believe how many people encourage others to do this and how many people are afraid to say DON"T DO IT............ FLAME AWAY MY FRIENDS

<this is satire. Nobody take it seriously.>

If your stay is ruined by hordes of non-Poynesian guests overruning the grounds during fireworks and the water pageant, take it up with the hotel manager, I bet you are entitled to a refund.

Good thing all the All-Star people wear flame orange shirts so you can tell who they are. When I stop by I will be in Neon Blue so you can tell I am from the Beach & Yacht Club. Thank goodness there are no free shows visible from my beach.

<last I knew, guests at All-Star ARE "paying guests". Would you be as rude to me coming over from the Beach Club?>

well of course they are paying guests, of the all stars that is, not the poly. ;)

What's really funny is that is really isn't worth trucking all the way up to the Poly from the All-Star resorts to see the Electrical Light Pagent. We had it drift by our room at the Wilderness Lodge six times in January, and didn't bother even point it out to the kids. It's a nice-to-see if it happens to be going by when you're outside, but surely not something worth going out of your way to see.

Regarding Wishes, you're better off watching it from inside the Magic Kingdom. It's, again, a nice-to-see if you happen to already be at the Poly (perhaps having dinner) but it is no where near worth the trip just to see Wishes from a half-mile away.

Here we go again..... Poly lovers are notoriously touchy about people coming to use "their" beach. If Disney intended for this to be an amenity only available to paying guests, they would station someone at the beach entrance and issue wristbands like they do for the pool. Is it OK for a guest who is paying $400 per night (same as Poly) to come over from the Yacht Club to watch the fireworks, because that person is seeking to escape the HORDS of people (resort and non resort guests) who flood to the YC/BC and Beaches and Cream after Illuminations at Epcot every night? And, if a family someone comes in and has a $200 meal at the Kona Cafe, and then wants to walk around the resort and sit on the beach for awhile, are they paying customers or no?

The ability to resort hop and enjoy some "open" amenities at various resorts is, IMO, an incentive to come to WDW in general. I would hate to be precluded from enjoying the beach at the BC/YC, taking the boat there, or enjoying Beaches and Cream patio just because I was a Poly guest.....

As far as I know (but I may be wrong) Electrical Water Pageant is only visible from Magic Kingdom Resorts and some day from Magic Kingdom itself depending of operating hours. Do you think it's normal not to be able to watch the show just because I can't afford to stay at Polynesian ?
Concerning Wishes, I think it would be better to see it from MK. I've been told to watch it from the upper deck of Liberty Square Riverboat. It sounds to be a nice and less crowded place. Is there some people who did this way ?
Thanks for your help...

No. Disney only put the wristband program in place at Storm-a-long Bay because there was such rampant disregard for reasonable behavior on the part of so many guests. Disney knows that enforcement is far more expensive than voluntary compliance and so Disney relies on the integrity of its guests to behave reasonably with regard to these things.

Incidently, ALL resort pools have the same restriction, but the enforcement is only in place at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort because that was where the most violations were. Reasonable behavior is expected everywhere, not just where there is enforcement.

I don't know if the Poly beach qualifies in the same way as the resort pools. I don't remember seeing any such rule. However, the fact that there isn't enforcement is not a good indicator of what is appropriate. Personally, I wouldn't go to a hotel at night if I wasn't staying there or eating at one of their restaurants.

I would like to reply to Dave. You say you " find it very annoying when people encourage others to go take up chairs or cabanas at deluxe resorts to view fireworks or ewp. if you want the perks of the poly or gf or cr, etc. book a room and stay there. why take up chairs of the paying guests who are paying good $$$$ for their resort and the perks that go along with it??? ". Ok you're right but you must know just a few things. I have no intention of taking up chairs. Just standing on the beach and watching the show. If you want the perk, stay there !! Just one thing. I'm coming from France with my wife and my two children. Cost of the flight : about $3800 !! I really can't afford to stay at the Poly ! For US Residents, it's easier to say " I don't care about electrical water pageant. I'm gonna save money and I will come back next year" For us, visiting WDW is probably a "once in a lifetime" experience. That's why I want it to be as perfect and magical as possible. I think it's possible being respectful of Polynesian residents and watching the show from the beach... Well, I'd never think my question would raise such a debate... What about Disney's spirit ?

We'll be the same way when we make our "once in a lifetime" visit to France. However, I don't think it would be appropriate for us to expect special treatment in the Lourve, perhaps letting us cut through the crowds a bit, because we will only have that one chance to be there. :confused3

Well, I'd never think my question would raise such a debate... What about Disney's spirit ?
The Disney spirit is inside each one of us. We shouldn't expect it to come from others. I've been to WDW dozens of times, and have never failed to find the Disney spirit. It's there; don't worry.

Yikes!!! People....come on now. We're talking about standing on a beach, not taking over all the chaises at the Volcano Pool!! When we were at the Polynesian last, we watched the MK firewords from that jut (point) of land at the end of Tokelau. We watched with a nice family from someplace in the midWest. But, horror of horrors...they were not staying at the Polynesian, but at CBR. They had just had dinner at 'Ohana. They took up no hammocks, or seats...just stood there. There was a grand total of 7 of us up there.

I have yet to see huge crowds of people on the beach, especially to watch ELP. I have one friend who saw it while at the Polynesian and ended up saying she wouldn't turn around in her seat at diiner in order to see it again!!! BUt, it is a cute show...love the music. But, to the best of my knowledge, anyone is free to wander around the Polynesian and do their thing...as long as they don't use the pool. Common courtesy would go to not using the hammocks/seats. This other woman that watched with us asked me what behavior would be acceptable there. I told her that she should probably not use the hammocks and such but just standing there watching shouldn't be an issue. Now, if you are traveling with a group of 50 or so, that could be a 'horse of another color' so to speak. :thumbsup2

Dear Brian and Robbie,

I didn't want to sound unrespectful. Of course, I don't expect special treatment because I'm coming from a far place. I just wanted to know if it was allowed to be on Polynesian beach even if not registered. I have the answer so I think we gonna watch EWP from there but I can guarantee we won't take up Polynesian guests' chairs. We will just be there and enjoy the show. You say you've been to WDW a dozen times... Do you have personal tips for us ? My family would be very thankful if so...
Friendly...

I think the #1 tip would be to read these forums, especially the Theme Parks forum. This is the single best source of insight into getting the most from a WDW vacation. Go into it figuring you'll have a great time, add on all you can learn from the knowledge and experience of the members of this board, and you'll surely have the time of your life.

Thierry,
you were asking a perfectly good question and you got rude answers for which a lot of us here feel bad. When you are a guest at any WDW hotel, you are welcome at all the facilities of all the pools with very few exceptions. You can't use the pools at other resorts, but you are welcome to the restaurants, grounds and other common areas. You can even sit in a lounge chair without any guilt.

Have a terrific trip!

Thierry,

I want to apologize for the way other posters have treated you. You are MORE than welcome to watch the pageant from the Poly beach -- it is a lovely spot. We have watched it there on every one of our trips, whether we stayed at Coronado Springs, Fort Wilderness, or Saratoga Springs on our most recent trip. It's a family tradition -- we have dinner at Ohana, and then watch the pageant. Regardless of which WDW hotel you stay at, you are a resort guest.

We also like watching from Fort Wilderness's beach too, which is usually deserted at that hour as well. Please enjoy your visit to America and WDW, and have a fantastic time.
