ECV and Pregnacy

Our family will be at the 'world' during the Xmas holidays; my DD and SIL and GS (2 yo) will be joining my DH and me for part of the trip. My DD will be six months pregnant with twins. Her doctor has no objection for her to be at WDW, just for her to rest when she feels the need when inside the parks. She does not excercise regularly (before pregnancy); I'm trying to convince her to rent an ECV (or maybe a wheelchair) while in the parks. She said she didn't think she would need one. My question is what has been the experience of other 'Moms to be' with ECVs or wheelchairs during the crowded Xmas holidays?

Depending on how big she has grown with her twins by then she might find getting on and off an ECV a nuisance because of the front-position tiller. The tillers can be shoved away, creating more room, but then the stress on the arms and shoulders is pretty rough. Would she and her Dr. find building up her walking strength a little at a time as the trip nears be a better solution? She might find it easier to cope with crowds easier on her own two feet. People can be very aggravating to those on wheels...

You might want to read the "My evening in a wheelchair at Epcot" thread and the disABILITIES FAQs at the top of the board for some idea of what it's like to tour with a wheelchair or ecv.
With the tiller on the ecv farther away, it might also be more strain on her back, which is likely to already be under strain from carrying twins.
Because she's having twins, the pregnancy might be a little more unpredictable, so it is possible that the doctor may change recommendations closer to the time you go.
When it's really busy, it is quite a bit harder to get around (especially at MK, where it's pretty congested any time). I do agree with videogal that it might be easier for her to walk around and just do short days with lots of rest times. You should be able to rent a wheelchair at the parks, but you would not be likley to find any ecvs left unless you are at the park at opening.

When I was 6 mo pregnant with twins I would have wanted a ECV. It is not that it is bad for you to walk around when you are pregnant, of course it isnt. BUT it became very tiring for me (yes, another person that did not exercise before preganacy with twins, and I was 22) after a while and I could not imagine walking around for hours with out being totally wiped out.
