What do you do for insomnia?

I've added HRT of progesterone, estradiol, and testosterone cream and the magtein form of magnesium since this thread began. It has helped a lot.

Are these all over the counter? I need to go google. Hormones? I can't take/dr. orders. I will talk to my primary when I go in August......

The hormones are by prescription. The magtein is from Amazon lol.

You may want to look for Dr. Mary Clare Haver.

There's new research disproving some old studies that some doctors still believe about who can take hormones.

I take melatonin every night, just 1mg. I've read that less is more effective. I've seen up to 10mg pills.

DH took melatonin but it gave him terrible diarrhea. We haven't checked the dosage of what he took, though.

I'd encourage you to seek the opinion of a doctor, if things are bad. Dr. Google can only go so far

Interesting. I hadn't heard of that as a side effect before. All 3 of my kids take it, too. They like the strawberry .5mg gummies from Target. I use a chalkier cherry flavord chewable 1mg from Amazon.

Also, it ounds counter-intuitive, but people who have sleep apnea tend to have insomnia, too. You may want to rule that out. You go to lofta.com and order an at-home sleep test. It's the same one a lot of doctor's and insurance companies use, instead of the clinical sleep studies. It's not covered by insurance but for me, cheaper than what my co-pay would be. There's usuallu a promo code. I think I paid $180 for mine. The online doctor approces it, so you don't need a prescription. It's not as sensitive as the sleep clinic tests but will give you an idea if it's a problem. Lofta will give you a lifetime prescription if you do test positive. You can also email them and ask for the raw data from your test. I used it and then bought a used Resmed machine off of Facebook marketplace (even though I did have a prescription for a new one). The nice part is that my insurance was none the wiser. Be aware that if you test positive, it could disquaify you from life insurance.
