So sorry to hear that! Reminds me of when I sprayed Pam on an overheated pan and had the fire department show up with two trucks because I couldn't remember my code to give ADT to cancel their response.

There's always the microwave.

I'd starve. I hate sushi.

In our old house one of the smoke detectors was directly above the stove. The stupid thing was constantly going off. If there was one crumb in the oven or on a burner, there it went. My husband used to tell everyone that was the dinner bell..."I always know dinner is ready when the smoke alarm goes off." I swear I never burnt the man's dinner.

Oh goodness you sound like my DH. You HAVE to turn the burner down once you get the pan heated...geesh....
