Easy (I believe) reservation question

My use year is Dec and I will have 83 points left over for my year ending 11/30/04. I am thinking of going down early next Dec (04) and using those points. How does this exactly work? I would be making the reservations soon, but I believe they technically would be "banked" points since they would be used after the original use year is up. Do I need to bank them before the reservation? Also, if we cancelled, what happens to the points? I would still have the remainder of the year pretty much to use them, right?

Your 83 points expire on 11/30/04, so you have two options with them:

1). Bank them
2). Use them prior to 11/30/04

If you want to use them for your December trip, bank them, and then make the ressie. Just make sure to specify and get confirmation from MS that they are using up your banked points.

I'm not sure on this, but I believe if you were to cancel, the banked points would remain in your 2004 (banked) use year.

You need to bank those points before your use year is up. Earlier if you want them all banked. Check your member handbook for those deadlines to your specific use year.

If you cancelled, the points would still be banked in the use year you banked them into. So you would have the remainder of that use year to use those points.

You can bank the 2003 use year points when you call to make the reservation (since you will be calling soon to make your 12/04 reservation anyway). Remember to tell MS to use the banked points first. That way, if you have any "leftover" 2004 points, you will be able to bank them into your 2005 use year.

FWIW, it only takes a minute or so for the CM to bank points and give you the banking confirmation number. It's a good idea to keep this number somewhere safe. I recently banked some 2003 use year points on the same call that I made my December 04 reservation.

It's also a good idea to ask the CM to review the status of your points after you are finished making the reservation. That way, if there is any discrepancy, you can get it resolved right away.
