Currently in the middle of purchasing our summer trip (6/14-6/22) and realize I have no idea how the new system works! We got in late on the summer vacation offer, and were unable to find a room for the first three days of our trip, so will be splitting our stay at a full-price LM room at AOA. The tickets, however, had to be booked with the second stay because they were discounted as part of the package.

Since we will be onsite guests for the first three days (we just won't have tix associated with that part of the trip), will the MDE system let me connect the two resort stays together with my tickets? That is, will I be able to make FP+ reservations for the first three days even though my package doesn't begin until 6/17?

You will need to have tickets for every "day" that you make FP+ reservations.
So call and add that number of "days" to your package tickets (if you still need to.)
Then, after you arrive at WDW, you will be able to activate your package tickets up to 3 days before your actual package check-in date,
AND you will be able to make FP+ reservations for those extra days 60 days before your actual package check-in date.

Hi Robo. I will have ticket days, they will just be associated with the second half of our trip, so will be doing an "early pickup."

Yup.

So, I just want to make sure I get the mechanics right: I can make FP+ ressies here at home 60 days before the room-only part of the trip, but will still need to visit guest relations once I'm there to activate the tickets.

Thank you once again, Robo, for your help!

AFAIK, you will be able to make FP+ reservations for those extra days 60 days before your actual package check-in date.

Meaning 60 days before the date that you check into your second resort, the one with the package.
(So, about 57 days before you check into the FIRST resort.)

ETA: The more that I consider this, the more I think that you SHOULD be able to
book FP+ 60 days before your earlier AoA check-in date.

For sure, give it a try 60 days out.
