EARLY ROLL CALL....September 18, 2005 on Disney's Wonder (4 day cruise)

Well then! I hope you have an AWESOME time!! Please take lots o lots o pictures! LOL And talk to real soon!

Hi guys. Just thought I would check in to say we may be joining you all on this cruise. I see Amanda is gone on her Panama cruise but just wanted to find other Disers going same time. I was suprised not to see more. But I guess w/ hurrican season and school just starting...

I wanted to do 7 day originally and was thinking early 2006 but DH is playing in softball tournament in Disney area that next weekend and when I mentioned cruise to him he suggested we go just before then.

It will be me, DH, DS10 and DD5. We also have DS15 who can't make it b/c of school.

Anyhow just wanted to check in w/ you all.

Welcome aboard Karen! Only about 8 more months until we are cruising!

My quote from DU was only good thru yesterday and DH hasn't decided if we can really afford the cruise yet. I have telling him all the info I have found on the boards about ways to save $. Hopefully he will agree we can afford it. And I hope the prices don't go up too much while he decides.

I will keep you all posted on whether we will be joining you.

vossjemi - Hope you had a good time on your cruise. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Going too. Family vacation. Me, dh, ds11, ds2, 2 grandma's, sister, brother-in-law, dn7. We have been on a 7 day western, but this is the first time taking ds2 and the rest of party. Hope everyone has fun and the weather is good.

We are thinking of getting a day room at atlantis too. I figure it should give everyone something to do and little one a place to nap. I just wish you could book in advance and not have to wait until the last minute. oh well, just hoping for a memorable family vacation.

Hello All,
Just book today, and we are going, my Mother & I (DS41 would be for me)
We take trips like this for some good old family time.
This will be Wonder trip #3. We are doing the 3 days before at the Beach Club and then after the cruise we are going back to WDW, don't know which resort yet, we try to stay at a new resort each time we go, till we do them all.
As you can tell by my nick name when in Nassau we will be at the Hard Rock Cafe (HRC).

While got to go,
Wrench

Hi all. I'm back. Got back on Monday, but swamped at work and trying to get my land legs back. Had a great time. Anything specific anyone want to know? We went to Aruba, Panama Canal, Costa Rica, and Grand Cayman.

Welcome back, vossjemi. Glad you had a great time. How did it compare to DCL? Did you have good weather?

HRCCrazy and batc, glad to see more disers on this cruise. We haven't booked yet. But think DH is going to go for it. I told him the longer he waits the more the prices go up.

welcome back! I would love to see pics! And comparisons to DCL please? How was Grand Caymen looking?

Sorry guys, I don't know how RC compares to DCL since this sept will be my 1st DCL! Ha. ha. You could still see lots of damage at Grand Cayman. Many buildings with roofs torn off and makeshift plastic roofs. All the Palm Trees were destroyed, rubbish everywhere on the non-beach side of the road. We took a taxi to Sea Grape Beach about 3 miles from the pier. We rented chairs/umbrella for the day. We brought our own snorkel gear. It was beautiful. Laying on the beach looking out was great. Turning around, you felt sorry for them. You could not even use credit cards at this beach because they did not have the phone lines restored that far yet. But the conch fritters and mahi mahi was delicious here! Yum!

How did you like the RCCL ship? Which one was it? ANd remind me please what port it was out of. How was the pricing compared to DCL, if you dont mind sharing. I want to try other cruise lines, but I am so scared I will be disappointed. Do you have any pics yet? How was the weather? Did you all get any of this cold front? Tell me again, what was the length of this cruise, and what type cabin did you have??? Was it rotational dininig like DCL? Or were you at the same restaurant every night???? I have more but I do not want to overwhelm you! LOL

Ok, lets see here. It was the Brilliance of the Seas. Loved the ship...cool glass elevators to watch the ocean while you go up and down between the floors. 90,000 ton so bigger than Disney but not the biggest of RC. Last year we did the Navigator, which was 138,000 ton. Loved the Navigator, probably liked it better. It was out of Miami. I booked through cruisequick 11 months in advance. Our cost was $3064 total for cruise only, very reasonable for a 10 day cruise in my opinion. We had a D1 aft cabin. This is like the 4th category of balcony cabins...we were on the 8th floor. Our balcony in the aft had a bigger balcony than side D1 cabins. It was big enough to fit 2 chairs, a table, and 2 lounge chairs. Loved the aft view, but you do feel more motion of the ocean. Not a problem for us though. No, I have not developed my pictures yet. Unfortunately, I do not have a digital camera. All dining is in the same room, but each night has a different theme. We didn't always eat in the main dining. Sometimes we got back from our port too late so we opted for the Seaview Cafe or the Windjammer on 2 occasions. Any more?

hmmm...I have always wanted to do a 10 nihgt but the special ones tht DCL has are just to expensive. That price you listed was for 2 adults? What you stayed in a D1, would you say that it was a suite? Or more just a regualr room with a veranda? How was the embarktion and disembarktion process? Was there formal and semi formal nights? what types of themed dining was there. My biggest fear is that I will try another line and just be missing the "magic".....

Yes, that was the price for 2 adults. No, it was not a suite. But a bigger sized balcony room. The lowest size balcony is E3, E2, E1, then comes D1 and then the suites. Embarkation and disembarkation was soooo easy. I was on the ship eating lunch by 11:30 am. I had a tour in Miami (the everglades tour) so was one of the first groups off the ship. No problems whatsoever. Truth be told the 10 day cruises tended to be an older crowd. But, we hung out at the disco and frankly made pals with much of the crew. The older crowd went to bed early and so the crew came out to play. We met and hung out with many of the dancers/singers/entertainers on board. We also got to know many of the spa personnel and bartenders. We tipped well and got many free drinks. It was a lot of fun.

Hello All,
Amanda I know how you feel, my first 3 cruises were on DCL, they we try RCCL Navigator of the Sea, love the ship, and the cruise, it just was not the same as Disney, the rooms were nice, just smaller, and staff was nice, just not that Disney nice, I guess Disney spoiled us, but I may still try other lines, and will have to remember to keep an open mind, which I didn't do last time.

Anyone doing the land & sea, were staying at the Beach Club, first time can't wait to check it out, but still have not pick a resort for after the cruise, was think of the CB, POP, or the AKL. Want to stay a new resort each trip till we have stay at them all.

Now the hard part, I can't find the info anymore on how to add the clock to my post, they use to have a how to, but can't find it. Any one know, Thanks

Wrench I usually get my countdown over on the tech board there is usually a sticky post that says get your countdowns here.....We will not be doing any parks this cruise. We are leaving the kids at home and it is hard enough to get someone to keep all 4 of them for the 4 days of the cruise.

Thanks Amanda,
As you can see I got them up and running.

Me, my brother, Mom and Dad will be joining in on the cruise fun. It will be the first time for all of us. I can't wait.
