DVC Survey - New Resorts

What do you suppose DVC would bring to a new property at Lake Tahoe making it distinctively "Disney"? What would make a DVC resort there a far better vacation choice than one of the lovely resorts already available? What would make a DVC Tahoe resort worth the many extra $$$$$ compared to the other resort choices there?
Completed survey today: Lake Tahoe would be a totally different vacation experience. I would definitely go and quite possibly buy.
I like Lake Tahoe, but lets get more units in California first!

Country Bears Vacation Hoedown Dinner Show? :rotfl:

I'd consider Tahoe....but travel costs are just too high to get out there right now.

In a few years I might make an occasional trip to Vegas, as a getaway with DW.

Cabo doesn't thrill me a bit.

NONE of them would substantially increase my member satisfaction...and I wouldn't buy at any of them, either.

30 miles from the strip? Not interested at all!

Where would they be putting this resort? In Boulder City perhaps. It's about that distance away and it a family friendly kind of town in that there are no casinos allowed there (I forget the reason why). If it's 30 miles to the south near the stateline with California, that 30 mile drive could take an hour (or 2 hours) on a busy Friday night. I'll pass.

I don't know if this has been answered yet, but Boulder City doesn't allow gaming because of the workers building the dam. They didn't want them to lose all their money.

I have to say that Disney does an incredible job at all they do... so I would be intrigued with all of the above.

I hope I get a chance to vote on this.. and honestly isn't it just a nice thought that Disney is expanding..?

I'm excited at the prospect.;)

Hmm..how about the Ponderosa land for Disney? We used to go there when I was a kid and Bonanza was on..horseback riding, Bonanza sets, etc. I know the park is long closed, but who owns the land now? Or has it already been developed? I can see Disney doing this up a fun western town in a beautiful location.hmmm.

I hope I get the survey because I am really excited about the prospect of DVC expanding. We love WDW, but its nice to have a change every once in a while. We've been to Vero Beach a bunch of times and it is just wonderful. Sure there are plenty of nice Florida resorts we could stay at, but Vero Beach is the only Florida Beach resort with the Disney touch. I'd definately be interested in staying at any of the three mentioned locations, and I be interested in buying at Vegas and I know other owners in my extended family would also. I would love to not have other DVC options availble without having the hassle of doing an exchange.

I have zero interest in any of the three. I joined DISNEY Vacation Club!!! I could of joined any one of several other time share or vacation programs if I wanted to vacation in Vegas or Mexico.

Dennis-
Same for me.

Vegas - here's where I thought a little different...30 miles from the strip??!! I'm guessing if you're interested in a Las Vegas DVC, then you're interested in Vegas and all the strip has to offer - why so far away?:confused3 The desert oasis thing I don't buy - why not do something closer to Disneyland, plenty of desert in CA. Having never been to LV, this thought may be way off so correct me if I'm wrong, but 30 miles out -how much land could they get?? How cheap??....With the physical and economic constraints of the Anaheim area, any chance they'd be looking to create another theme park in the LV area?? Using DVC to help get it off the ground as members are repeat customers and could help finance the building of a combo DVC/cash hotel?

It's 30 minutes from the strip, not 30 miles. As I mentioned in my earlier post on this thread, I suspect they are thinking about Lake Las Vegas, which is only about 17 miles from the strip. It wouldn't have a casino, and there are already resort hotels out there, including Loews and Ritz Carlton.

DVCNews.com had some interesting comments on topic. Post #10 was especially interesting recalling prior Disney efforts towards a family ski resort. It also suggests that Disney may be considering the purchase and renovation of an existing resort property rather than building one from scratch.

Cabo would interest me with the benefit of it being a Disney resort with Disney controlled activities and supervision for the kids. We've been wanting to get back to Mexico, but with 2 little kids, I'm concerned about safety in general and the thought of leaving my 2 and 4 year old in a Mexican 'day care' terrifies me. If it was Disney, however, I'd be much more comfortable...

I'd be interested in buying "none of the above". But, I would be interested in staying at all three.

I have to say that as a New Englander I would be much more likely to use my points at one of these three than in Hawaii.

:yeahthat:

While I would love to go to Hawaii again, I don't see my family staying at DVC because we love Maui.
