DVC studios - fewer amenities

Just returned from a studio at BWV. We had "real" mugs and glasses. We had a hard time getting a dish towel. The housekeeping staff told me they "are out of them". I finally did get one.

Can you tell us when you arrived? Was it before or after March 2? did you have the "real" stuff the whole time or did you have to ask for that too . . . . ?

Thanks!

Alright, I hope that's the trend! I mean about the mugs and glasses.

Mine as well. Before we start to roll out the conspiracy theories I would point out that the poster who first noticed this wasn't aware of Cupgate 2008 when they checked their profile.

Based on the past poor performance of the DVC member website, I would suggest that Chip or Dale has been at play again this week, and that it is a coincidence.

You're right, I'm not familiar w/ Cupgate 2008, but the ***disboard mbr*** tag where my e-mail would have been has been there for quite some time. Just hadn't thought to mention it until now.

All right....I have read every post here and will do my small part to get us to 1000 posts. I emailed DVC last week, not sure which day and got the 2 canned responses everyone else has gotten. We have stayed in studios many times when only 2 of us go to WDW and larger units when we take more family just like many others have said. My DH sold timeshare for about 10 years and buying DVC was a difficult sell for him since we have a week here on Cape Cod we can trade into Orlando at just about anytime of the year. Of course I am the WDW nut and insisted on staying at WDW and after lots of stays and cash reservations, he yielded and we own at BWV. He loves DVC now and especially the point system and loves sharing our vacations with his family. He is shocked they would eliminate this small but important amenity. Many timeshare units in Orlando have studios stocked with more upscale amenities than the DVC studios (dishes, real silverware etc). The amount of money we have all prepaid for our "deluxe" DVC vacations absolutely warrants if not a glass and ceramic mug to drink our preferred beverages ( Starbucks sitting on our balcony in the am!!!), certainly the ability to call housekeeping an request them (without an attitude on the part of mousekeeping). There is no doubt in my mind that during any of our many cash stays on the INN side of BW we could request and receive cheerfully a coffee mug or wine glass, no problem. The "green " factor is just common sense. Hopefully this week we will all see some more resonses from DVC. If not, my disappointment will continue to be expressed. (Chuck S. .....love the "No Mugs For You"!!!!

We were at the Beach Cub Villas (studio) between March 9th and 14th and they gave us paper plates, styrofoam cups and plastic forks, spoons and knifes.

It was our first time staying as DVC members so I just figured that was what everyone got. I didn't really like it as it is not what we would use at home.

I was surprised that there was no wine glasses either so we headed out to a Walmart supercenter and bought them. Red wine in those cups just wouldn't work.

We took a tour of the Animal Kingdom DVC center an they had wine glasses, and real dishes in the show room so the message is kind of mixed up.

We are currently at Galleria Palms (Nice place BTW) and they have glasses and coffee mugs for us.

We did have the styrofoam cups during our stay at BCV March 2-7. Although we didn't ask for regular glasses or ceramic mugs, we did ask for two wine glasses which they brought quickly. One of them was chipped on the bottom but we were careful with it. I can drink almost anything out of a paper or styrofoam cup but I have to have glass wine glasses for my wine. :lovestruc

At T&T day, they replaced our towels but they only left 2 washcloths and didn't leave a bath mat at all. I called for the items that were missing and housekeeping brought me a whole armload of towels, washcloths, etc. I only took what was missing and a couple of extra washcloths.

At various times, I have also asked for extra hangars, corkscrew, blender, ice tea pitcher, pillows, and blanket and received them without any problem. I think housekeeping tries to keep their guests happy.

I just sent an email to Member Services protesting this change. I suggest everyone do the same. It degrades the "home away from home" experience they sold us.

Can someone please PM me the mailing addresses that you have been sending your comments to? I want to forward my opinion but would rather do it by snail-mail to see if I receive a more detailed reponse. Thanks!

Every time I've stayed in a studio (BWV, SSR, and VWL) we've had ceramic coffee mugs and glasses, a few wine glasses, several paper plates and paper bowls, and plastic utensils. I've brought a small knife to cut fruit, cheese, etc.......don't really want to start bringing my own mugs and glassware!!!!

I bring along a small electric kettle when I am in the studios :) I don't think you would be too surprised at the number of us Brits who travel with our own supplies of tea bags too ;)

Agree totally about the DVD player.

I bring my own tea and coffee! At home I boil the water and steep it in my tea pot, but when I'm at my Disney I run it through the coffee pot. I really try to use the micro as little as possible. I have been known to reheat a time or two!:rolleyes1

:lmao: :rotfl2: LOVE IT!! It could be a new DVC logo!

Just emailed DVC Customer Satisfaction and printed out a letter to Mr. Lewis which I will mail tomorrow. I asked him to explain how styrofoam will enhance my deluxe vacation resort stay. :lmao: :rotfl2: I also told him I was sending a letter to the FL Dept. of Environmental Protection. I didn't want him to think he was special enough to be the lone recipient of my complaint.:goodvibes All we can do now is hope 'eh?!
Yes I like this idea of letting them know we will mail letters to "appropriate" agencies.

I'm really hoping this is the "new/old" policy....

Please write a letter telling just what you said....this is the most
pathetic part. They just think people won't complain....never realizing it
just leaves a bad taste in your mouth about the whole "experience".

Here ya go....thanks TiggerAlli:goodvibes
I just filtered through as many pages as I could stand ;) and collected all the contact information so that it will be in one place. Hopefully that will make it easier for people to use. Hope it helps!

Oh my we were at BWV Feb 26 thru March 13....and as posted before had the mug issue(when I got the mugs back on T&T I hid them in frig LOL. and also we only got 2 wash cloths and small towels and I am not even sure mousekeeping changed the bath mat the last T&T, I just thought it was a lazy mousekeeper....and I really only needed 2 since we left the next day....this is getting to be too much if this is the trend at DVC.....this is not making me feel Delux

Just back from a standard studio (3111-fireworks view from balcony:thumbsup2 !!!)at BWV:goodvibes . Great stay, I adored the resort and the room, but this is one thing that bothered me. No glassware. I bought a bottle of wine and drank from my refillable mug rather than the styrofoam cups. It just didn't seem right. Even the moderate resorts get glasses and ceramic mugs, I think they could allow some glassware for a studio. But hey, if thats all I have to complain about, I think I did well. Next time I'll bring my own wrapped up in my luggage.

I just hope Mr. Lewis is true to his words he wrote in the latest Disney Files magazine. His first sentence says... "Listening is serious business here at Disney Vacation Club." Let's hope that proves true. Clearly there are other solutions rather than removing the glasses and mugs.
