I am a DVC member and usually stay at those resorts. My daughter stayed in a cabin last January and loved it.

We will soon be getting an RV from my mother, who no longer will be using it since we lost my Dad last spring. My question is if I can use my DVC pts in "payment" of the campsites. I usually have extra pts that I either bank or rent out at times.

Also, what is the rule on taking pets along to the campsites...

The RV is a 22 ft. Winnebago Minnie Winnie so I should not have any trouble manuvering it around the campsites, right??

Thanks for any advice.

From what i understand Yes you can use point's to reserve a campsite :sunny: with your DVC :thumbsup2 You will have no problem getting your Minnie Winnie in or around the campground!Sorry to hear of the loss of your father :grouphug:
Don
ps...Pet's yes you can bring your pet's you need to reserve a pet loop....Make sure you have all your Vac records......

Yes you can use you DVC points at FW. That is the only way we have stayed at FW is on points. You'll be suprised how long you can stay and how little points it takes compared to the other DVC resorts. When you use your DVC points you are suppose to get a perferred site which we have every time so far. I have made 2 reservations for next year already on points and both times they have said they didn't have any preferred sites available but they had a full hook up so I went with that.

Did they charge you less points for a full hookup? How long can you stay for your points vs. resort rooms? I was never interested in DVC until I heard points could be used at the campground. Thanks for any info.

I just booked next year on points for summer. I can stretch 100 points into almost 2 weeks at the fort. Instead, i opted for 1 week using points and one week using cash so i can use the points remaining at HH. I only have the old DVC planner, but I think it was about 8 points a night for weekdays, 11 for fri/sat. I had to change dates multiple times and there was always availability in july and august as of last week.

We are going in March '07 and our best friends are following us down in their Coach, too. Both of us are staying 11 days and that is 113 points for each of us. Bear in mind that your points become reservation points if you use them for FW, and are not bankable or transferable and if you cancel you will have to use them somewhere else that needs reservations points or you will lose them at the end of your use year.

What an incredibly timed post!! We are buying our RV today. Yeah!!! :cool1: FIL asked if we were selling the DVC since we will be camping. Silly man!! :rotfl:

I will, but it will be about a week from now. We are buying it used from the owner but running through a dealership. Dealer is going to caulk the roof and fix very minor things but otherwise its very low miles, impeccably cared for, no water damage and a full 2 inch binder with every repair receipt and owner's manual. And its such a good deal I can pay cash!!! My DH wanted a new one but the thought of payments for so many years :faint: - can you say I'm cheap! :teeth:

Can't wait to see everyone at Fort Wilderness!!

We just got back from a two week stay at FW using our DVC points. We were put in a preferred site, as that is what I had reserved. I also have a preferred site reserved for December, but was not as fortunate in getting one for February, as they have assigned us a full hook-up. There does not seem to be any "price break" between the two (although there should be), but I have not actually stayed on "full hook-up points" yet, so until then, I can't really say. I do know that when I made the ressie they took out the same amount of points as if I had reserved a preferred site. I don't use points on weekends, as the amount they "charge" goes up substantially. I reserve with DVC points Sunday through Thursday and pay cash for Friday/Saturday ..... lets us stay for a much longer period of time!

As I noted in my other post reply, I was not sure that the ressie would be for a preferred site since our points chart calls for a full hook-up. Wonder if preferred will be the norm or will there be a points correction in the future if preferred is requested. Same thing has to be asked about requesting a pet loop and bringing in a dog.

Weekends are sure a killer and they are about all we can get away.

Ok, i am confused and also new to RVing, although i've stayed in the Ft. Wild. cabins....what is difference between preferred and full hook up. I requested 300 loop, i thought that was preferred, is that not also a full hook up? HELP!

300 is a preferred pet loop with full hook-ups plus cable tv and for $10 rental for modem you can access internet

You would do it the same as if you were staying at a DVC resort. Book your sun-thurs stay with MS and (instead of calling MS), book your cash ressie through CRO. They will usually link the two together so you don't have to move (check out/in).

Since we are DVC owners AND just bought a travel trailer last month, I have been looking into this. For stays Aug through early Dec it is 6 pts per night sunday through thursday and 11 pts on friday and saturday. I was looking at those dates because I am trying to decide on going back for either MNSSHP & Food & Wine OR MVMCP. I know if you use the $10 per point theory it isn't cost effective, but I have the points, so I'll use them and save the cash! Especially since the weekend pts are so low.
