I am curious about this as well! It might be too much to hope for another moderate resort... but I think they are missing out on that niche.

Also wonder if they'll ever revisit the skiing resort in the Rockies, I forgot the name. It was an idea long ago that was dropped, but we are skiers and would love to be able to spend a ski vacation at a Disney resort. It'd be interesting to hear how the Hilton Head and Vero Beach properties have been in terms of profitability (I.e. the offsite locations that have tons of more affordable competition in the same area).

Look at it this way: It should make this year's DVC Annual Meeting just a little more interesting. It was at the meeting in December 2011 that Claire Bilby officially announced plans for the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian.

Assuming that anything comes after Poly, the potential candidates include: the Fort Wilderness DVC in the area near where River Country once was, for which drawings were accidentally leaked several years ago; another Bay Lake Tower; a combination hotel and DVC resort in the abundance of yet to be developed land south and west of the Studios; the first "moderate" DVC resort, possibly as part of Coronado Springs

For Poly?
There's nothing official, (they cannot legally sell Poly points right now) just calling your guide (salesperson) so they can write your contact info on a list, so hopefully you get called back when sales actually start. (Unless they are swamped with others calling in)

I wish they will add DVC resorts at all the other Disney resorts around the world. I would for sure add on if they build one in Hong Kong Disneyland resort, as I go visit my family on HK every other year.

I hope it's more than just the bungalows over the water and some studios in a refurbished building.

What is the deal with this? Really a whole bunch of studios? I need a 2 bedroom! AND 3 BATHROOMS!!!!!!

I'm hoping for the Yacht Club... there is a little bit of room between the YC and the Dolphin convention center.... and I love the YC!

There have been rumors of a current WDW moderate resorts eventually being home to DVC. But don't automatically assume that would make it a "moderate DVC." Certain elements of a resort can be retained while others are rebuilt to new specifications. Disney already did this at Saratoga Springs a decade ago.

With the family suites at Art of Animation, Disney has excess capacity in that Moderate class. Repurposing elements of a resort can save millions of dollars. No need to clear land, run utilities, build roads, etc. Even existing resort elements like front desk, restaurant(s), pool(s), parking lots, landscaping and much more can be reused.

Tikiman posted some drawings that show a new floor plan for the DVC rooms in Rapa Nui:

I'm trying to figure out the bathroom layout. It doesn't appear to have the same layout as the studios at the Grand Floridian, but does appear to basically be a split bath - actually two separate bathrooms, as it doesn't look like there's a sliding door between the two bathrooms. It looks like there may be a bath and the vanity in one room, with possibly the toilet and another shower in the other. Or, possibly a shower and changing area in the one closer to the bedroom, and a toilet & vanity in the other. Any thoughts?

It was planned to be in the base village at Beaver Creek in Colorado. The resort was built, just not by Disney. I believe it is either a Hilton or a Marriott time share.

I would also love to see a DVC resort at a ski resort and we know that this is something that Walt wanted as well. If he had lived a few years longer we might have had it at Mineral King in Cali.

They changed more than "certain elements". I stayed in the condos in the 1970s. The only thing in common they had with SSR was the land under them. They were free standing small little condos, which were also used for the Institute.

They were razed and SSR built on the property. Not much else remained except the location.

All of the "common area" buildings from the Disney Institute were integrated into Saratoga Springs.

The image below is an old overhead of the DI. Everything in the upper half of the photo still stands today. The grassy courtyard to the upper right of center is where the High Rock Spring pool was constructed.

If DVC takes over one of the Moderate resorts, chances are all of the guest rooms would be razed and re-built as was the case with SSR. But the ability to re-use some facilities and avoid the need to clear new land, run utilities, pave roads and construct certain buildings would shave tens-of-millions off the development cost.

Well, if anything was going to get me to add on this is it! The Poly has been a fave since I was a kid and I can't wait to see what they do to a 2bd villa!
