DVC Polynesian officially announced.

Man! I go on vacation for a few days and don't check the boards and look at what I miss. Can't wait to hear more details.

At first I was SOOO disappointed that there won't be typical 1 bds or whatever. But, the rumor is that the studios will connect so I may be able to put us all in 2 studios rather than a GV?

Honestly, the washer/dryer is MUCH more important to me than the full kitchen. Hopefully the studios will include a washer/dryer. I do like the full fridge and mircrowave, but I can survive on the studio sized fridge and mircro.

Problem is... I bet a studio will cost close if not more than an OKW 1 bd. hmmmm... and... I'll probably end up at OKW or home at BLT/BCV.:rolleyes1

I'm happy that we have more choices though, and I do love the Poly. I'm sure it will be lovelly.:goodvibes

As a studio stayer, I'm happy. What I don't want to see is the exorbitant rates they are going to charge us to stay.

I agree - I would be happy with all studios. I'm just waiting with baited breath to see what the points chart looks like.

We were all ready to buy in as Poly is where DH and I got married but we are 1bdrm peeps. The washer/dryer and the kitchen are a must for us. This was the main reason we bought DVC, we wanted more than just a hotel room.

We are close to being just 3 with DH, DD (7), and I. DS 22 has his own DVC and still comes with us for now but I forsees 5 years from now, or less he will be going without us and vice verus. And DD, 24, is not a huge WDW fan.

Either way not 1 bedroom means no add-on for us.:sad2:

Feeling a little dumb asking the question - but I think it needs to be asked... Why no 1BR or 2BR ? surely they are they the 'meat in the sandwich' of all the dvc options - especially for families

Me too!! No 1-bedrooms will keep me from buying more points there too. I hate studios and there are only 3 in my family, so I can't do a grand villa. If I wanted to stay in a hotel style room, I would just stay at the Poly regular room. Is it a bad thing it won't have what I want to buy? Probably not. We need to curb our Disney spending anyway. Honestly, I am very disappointed I won't want to buy.

I'm thinking the majority of the bungalows will be much closer to the treehouse villas, than true grand villas. Technically 3 bed rooms, with a slightly increased points per night cost, but not grand villa size or price.

But we will see.

Hmmmmm - Two days later and the validity of this "Official Announcement" remains in question.

While I strongly believe there will be a POLY DVC someday, unless someone can point me to a major news agency that is independently reporting this, I would have to say this announcement is likely a hoax.

Washer/dryer AND king size bed are what makes DVC stays so much more enjoyable. Without those, DVC is not worth it to me.

:confused3

As I've said elsewhere in this thread, the release was sent by an established Disney PR staff member from her Disney email address.

The information has been reported by the Orlando Sentinel and dozens of different Disney fan sites. If there was any possibility of it being fraudulent, Disney would have moved swiftly to issue denials and investigate the nature of the release.

No "major news agency" is interested in Disney resort construction that's 2+ years down the road. Did CNN, Reuters, USA Today, etc. cover the Grand Floridian villa announcement?

I just had conversations with 3 different departments of Disney that include the Polynesian Resort and DVC and no one in any of those departments say that the press release came from Disney. They did mention that since the information is not incorrect they don't seem to want to make them retract it but they are not saying they released anything official.

Just sharing what I am told.

If email addresses are considered validation then I have a $100,000.00 sitting in a Wells Fargo Bank account that is waiting for me to claim.

I'm not saying the information is wrong ... Just that the "Announcement" doesn't appear to be official.

You need to follow the bread crumbs ..... TV Stations are quoting the Sentinel who originally quoted BizJournel who quoted You and Tikiman. There is no TV station or Newspaper that reported this with a direct Disney source.

Thanks Tikiman - This is what I would expect. Disney would not go through the process of demanding a retraction only to release the same information somewhere down the road.

Again - I am not questioning the fact that the POLY DVC will one day be built and will likely have many of the features you have been reporting. My only concern is that it appears someone is playing a hoax on you, Tim and the entire Disney Fan Community.

I enjoy reading both your sites - It is a shame that this maybe someone's idea of a joke and or is trying to tarnish your reputations.

any chance that DVC or Disney will go back to the originally plans - those were nice!

gettng only a studio won't discourage me - get studios most of the time - but can see for the majority of DVC owners this is just too small. can't they even do a 1-bedroom villa like at Jambo house?

They quoted MousePlanet and there was a photo and more details. We don't have any official details from DVC regarding the Poly.

I'm beginning to think someone at DVC jumped the gun and made the announcement early.

Note the story above was provided via a publishing agreement with the website MousePlanet.com. The agreement apparently ended because MousePlanet has not contributed to USA Today since August 2012.

And I'm sure MousePlanet will include a mention of the DVC Poly in its own Walt Disney World update next week.

To put a ribbon on this, I sent tikiman a PM with the names of two PR staffers he could contact at Disney for confirmation. The statement published at DVCNews.com was provided by Disney's PR department and it's validity has been confirmed by multiple individuals inside The Walt Disney Company.

If you're curious for more details, I'm right there with you. But the absence of such details doesn't make this any less "official." Tuesday's press release was issued by Disney. There is nothing unofficial about it. The lack of details and concept art was by design. Nobody "jumped the gun."

Cool. Thanks for clarifying TimK.

We are down here now, and after hearing the news, we called our guide to be put on his call list when sales start. He did confirm the Poly DVC to us and said it would be 2015 before sales started. We will need more details before we do an add on, but excited to hear they are building at Poly!

The release is official, they are just at a place where they are not ready to release more details.
