DVC Polynesian officially announced.

One (of the many) thing(s) that interest me is a comment on dvcnews.com projecting it to open in 12/15 (based on VGF times).

AKV is on pace to sell out by early spring, if not sooner. When that day comes, VGF will be towing 100% (well, close to it) of the direct sales. That could increase sales a lot.

VGF is small, and as of 8/31 almost 19% sold. Is it possible VGF becomes close to 100% sold before the end of 2014?

That can potentially leave a big time gap with nothing to sell.

Of course, we know that all those people who will want to buy at Poly will really just want to stay at SSR.

:rotfl2: Now that was funny.

I've always wanted to try the Poly but never would cough up the rate Disney wanted.

Scared to see how much it will cost per point.

Disney Vacation Club will have three resorts along the monorail system

Celebration, Fla. (Sept. 17, 2013) -- Today, Disney Vacation Club announced that its planned next location will be at Disney's Polynesian Resort, located on Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort. When this resort is completed, Disney Vacation Club will have destinations at all three resorts on the monorail system, allowing easy access to Magic Kingdom Park.

The planned development project at Disney's Polynesian Resort, when completed, will join Disney Vacation Club's 12 other properties, including The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, scheduled to open Oct. 23. Construction on the Polynesian project began this month, and completion is estimated to be in 2015. In addition to the Disney Vacation Club project, other guest areas within Disney's Polynesian Resort will undergo refurbishment. More information and project details will be shared at a later date.

We have been waiting for this for sooooo long!!! We were starting to lose hope and almost bought more AKV from the last webcast special but decided to hold off for a few more months because of the rumors..... I am so glad we waited...and this early announcement gives me lots of time to save up to buy a nice chunk!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cool1:

As I pointed out in my original post, the Poly DVC project is somewhat dissimilar to the VGF project, so its difficult to predict its construction time based on what's happening with VGF.

If VGF sales continue at its current pace, then it should reach the "sold out" status in 15-16 months. However, Disney Vacation Development has some control over the sale of points for VGF. If it wants to slow down the sales, it can always raise the price.

What will be interesting to see is if today's announcement for the Polynesian DVC puts a damper on VGF sales. There may be a few people who were thinking about buying VGF, but will now wait until sales begin for the Poly.

I just thought about that too...we all should pretend we are not interested in it. You know they troll these message boards and all this excitement will jack the price way up...I would not be surprised to see it start at $175...I hope not!

We just had to sell our SSR DVC due to current financial situations. Now I know where we will buy when we are able to do so!

While this makes me excited, I know I won't be able to afford the price the want. Oh well, still very cool!

We are thrilled and always said we would consider a second home resort if poly had dvc. Now to see what they do and how much!

fyi Lots of shady stories flying around the internet about a so called Disney announcement about DVC polynesian.

Although its been in rumorville a while and its been on several Disney related websites, There's nothing officially confirmed by Disney to the public this is happening. Besides the so called announcement has almost no details along with it, which is not typical Disney style..All it says is opening sometime in 2015..no renderings, no numbers on rooms accomadations etc.

I would hang tight until Disney goes public with this one.

Cant be official, the news site is quoting disney but then why hasn't disney come out directly to provide a press release..that doesnt make sense?

Count me in! Time to add on! I, too, have been waiting a long time for this. I love Poly~

Its being quoted as a press release but a press release is generally made public by the company making annoucement and yet I cant find it anywhere from Disney themselves only on other non disney sites, thats whats weird here.

All we can do is guess at times, and I think you have a good guess.

No need to pretend, I'm not buying into a building that was built in 1985, and being pawned off like its new.

Build new, and I will be buying on day 1 of sales.
