DVC plans to unveil some enhancements spring 2010

I guess I'm a little underwhelmed by these "enhancements". I didn't see any that would really make me jump up and down. Now if they announced on-line booking or if they some how improved RCI exchanges that would be a whole different thing. But looking at the list posted, my initial reaction is ho-hum.
I thought the exact same thing.
Glad I'm not the only one...

I totally agree!

Better communication with their owners would be a great enhancement!

Let's try getting the point charts out more then a couple days before they are needed!!! The 2011 point charts are still MIA with no word from DVC as to their date of release or if there will be any changes.

I'm more and more convinced there will be changes to the 2011 charts. If they are making another change (or to finish the changes started in 2010within rules)then they think it is easier to wait until the last minute. If you wait unitl the last minute, there's no time to organize any large formal complaints because they already allowed reservations using the new charts...

Didn't we lose free valet parking last time they "enhanced" our member experience. :confused3 The phrase "enhancing the member experience" makes me nervous, it seems like they never give anything without taking something else away.

::yes:: Unfortunately, I'm sure you are correct. Those changes that hit the 20% cap are likely to continue the adjustment. I wonder if there will be seasonal changes as well (i.e. increasing early Dec.)

I hope they "enhance" my points as well. It seems that I get less and less time with each passing year.:sad2:

Whenever I see the word "enhancement" in the same sentence as DVC, I wonder what they're going to take away and how much it's going to cost me. ;)

Why do folks own something they have so little faith in. DVC is not mandatory, we can sell out any time we want. Personally i like the sound of most of the enhancements... Someone also commented on the deposit for cash ressies, guess that will help keep people honest and not block a room someone else may want. Most resorts require a deposit and many require payment in full for the entire stay.

So when last I heard, online booking was rolling out in fall 2010. Is that still true or are they bumping that up for sprong 2010??

Lets face it the people that will take these enhancements in the gut are DVC employees. Those paper resrevations took people. When Online reservations roll out I could see reductions of 40-60% of member service staff.

I am more worried about Member Service people. To me these people have done great work. I hope that most of them can be redeployed into other roles.

And THAT is exactly why I think on line booking will not necessarily be a good thing. Whenever we get the survey at the end of a call, I always say I am NOT interested in on line booking.

..although DVC will otherwise be in the position to need more permanent MS employees to handle the additional reservations of Kidani, BLT, GCV, THV and then Hawaii as those points are sold. MS employees may have better security than you are sugestion just because of member growth

This is the part that has me concerned. We are relatively new members with a small contract. Our plans are to split our 5 night stays between 2 nights in a studio with a dining plan and 3 nights in a 1BR without a dining plan. If this would now be automatically considered one reservation, we'd have to rethink it.

The rest of the "enhancements" sound pretty decent, if they actually run the way that they are supposed to:cool2:.
There will always be a way to do this, one may just have to do it differently going forward. Ask they not be combined, list different guests, get different resorts for each portion.

DVC says enhancements

I think higher maintenance fees

Those who attended the annual meeting reported online booking is scheduled for fall 2011. They've been promising it for 10 years, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I can't wait until they add online booking for DVC stays! There are many times that I just what to check to see if something is available and would be willing to try many scenarios to get something that would work for me. I love the new online dining reservation system, you can try many things before finalizing your plans....

We too like all the new online features and the email confirmations would be a plus. However the one confirmation number thing extended to the online dining reservations would be good as well. If you book dining online and then other dining reservations by phone the systems are different. The CM has to back out of one system then into another just to confirm the online reservations. Silly and this would fix it. I guess we'll wait to see if that gets fixed.
