I agree. I just want the ability to buy the TIW card, w/o an AP, like Florida Residents. After all, isn't DVC my home away from home.
I agree with Brian, "they" completely know where we are & what we're doing!
I want to play along though. I think it would be great if:
1. No AP needed for TIW.
2. Better Discount on Premium Passport (for WDW & DL).
3. Extra shampoo please! What a joke, I really just need extra shampoo!
4. A FULL set of towels every time the room is serviced (they only fill it in if you're down a few towels).
5. How about just the great service we thought we were paying for?
An aside: On many threads & in reviews on this & other sites, it seems there are a LOT of complaints about DVC villas, service to members, etc. That's a shame. We just want what we paid for and will be paying for in years to come: MAGIC!
It would be great if all wishes could be met, but we want a well maintained resort & and superior service. We built a great deal of the resorts that other guests are using, I paid for a nice place to vacation. & for shampoo![]()
Yep. We also bought OKW points way back when the purchase included park passes to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT Center, and Disney-MGM Studios through the end of 1999. Staying in a 2BR (max. capacity 8) provided up to 4 park passes per night.
The key point, however, is that Disney Vacation Development (DVD) paid the theme parks a negotiated amount for those passes. They were part of DVD's cost structure in those days (just like construction costs and marketing costs). DVD still pays for and provides purchase incentives of one sort or another these days, but they're not as generous as the old Limited Park Pass Program.
What some people on this thread are looking for now is something different. They essentially want the theme parks to sell MYW tickets to DVC members for less (possibly significantly less) than to guests staying in deluxe, moderate, value, and off-site properties.
The question is what would be the business justification for the theme parks to provide special discounts to DVC members? The parks are trying to make as much money as possible, and there's no reason for them to reward DVC members for buying points from DVD in 1993 or 2011 or anytime in-between.
Please understand that this is discussion forum. We're having a friendly discussion about potential perks for DVC members. Everyone brings different experiences, opinions, ideas, and points of view to a discussion like this one.Arn't we the party pooper. You have taken a harmless thread of what people would "LIKE" OR "WISH" and turned it into a business 101 class.
Is it so wrong to dream or hope for things without tying it to practicality. Sometimes its just fun to see what other would wish for too. Try reading the threads and have some fun. This isn't Harvard Business School.
Lighten Up.
So the real challenge is to suggest perks that are good for DVC members but also make business sense.
I would like the free valet back. I used that service ALL the time, and it really WAS a nice perk.

I happen to think that the discussion is more fun if we come up with perks that could actually be proposed to Disney. What perks would Disney Vacation Development want to pay for because the perks would generate new sales? What discounts would restaurants, shops, or parks want to offer because the additional revenue would generate new profits that exceed the reductions in margin? What perks would we DVC members be willing to pay for through increased annual dues?
Okay. I'll lighten up. I want a $1 million Disney gift card every time I check in at a DVC resort. But I don't want it paid for out of DVC member dues.
I'm suprised no one has mentioned offering preferred viewing areas for parades and shows. Perhaps make it "reserved"...call MS and let them know that you want seats for 4 at Fantasmic on xx day...you get a voucher that allows you access to a specific seating area (like the FDP) and you can enter any time, up until showtime. It shouldn't cost DVC that much, it would allow DVC members to spend more time in the park (i.e. shopping and dining) instead of waiting in lines. They could offer special parade and Illuminations areas too. By requiring "reservations", they would know how big of an area to "rope off" for DVC members. They should limit the number, but if the limit isn't reached, they can just make the reserved area smaller.

Not having to claim a spot a hour or two before a parade would mean my family might actually watch and enjoy a parade once in awhile.
What if DVC engaged an airline with national reach (such as Southwest, United, Frontier, etc) and offered the title of "Official airline of the Disney Vacation Club" for a significant discount for members on their current economy priced tickets (maybe 35-40% to a Disney location and 15% off other destinations).
The advertising would be a boon for the airline's marketing team (cause it says "Disney"), WDW would get more frequent visits by members (which equals more park, restaurant, and shopping time), and we get cheaper airline tickets!![]()

I would like to be able to buy the dining plan for a set amount of days during my trip and use the credits starting the day I check in until the day I check out. I know I can segment my reservation and buy it every other day to probably accomlish this, but it would be much cleaner to check in for a week stay and know I have 4 table service, 4 quick service, and 4 snacks at my disposal anytime I want.
They could even exclude the deluxe from this perk as with 3 table service credits a day that would probably be a money losing proposition.
