DVC perk wish list...

When I recently did the on line survey after a DVC stay, there were questions regarding a special type of DVC ticket and if I would be interested in buying it. Perhaps the type of tickets that are mentioned here will be available to DVC members.

That would be a good start ,but I think a better one would be to only charge us half the points cost on first day of check in, since we can only have it half the day anyway most of the time . I know sometimes we get in early which is nice , what do you fellow dvc 'ers think ?

Although I don't think they could actually do that, I agree with the thought that when you get in your room around 6 PM (as I did at VGC) that is really a rough use of a day's worth of points. We arrived at the check in desk by 7 AM as we come in by train, and then didn't get our room until that late.
I would also like to see a better discount on APs for DLR. $20 isn't much and there is NO discount on renewals. I also wish that they would come out with discounts as soon as tickets go on sale to an event. I know they wait to see if 'regular folks' buy up the tickets, but I know I'll be buying MNSSHP tickets right when they are announced, and if would be nice to know that I'll be getting the best price on them.
Also, as someone else mentioned, it wouldn't hurt anyone, and would benefit the bottom line, if they had an extra little dining discount for the 'off' times to help fill the seats. DVCers are naturally decent planners and also cheapskates, and I'd find a way to eat at odd times if I got a better deal. Also, to compete with other packages, I don't see how it would hurt for us to get preferred seating at Aladdin or a parade or something.
Pretty much my favorite perk is having a reliable nice prepaid room

whether dinner or lunch would encourage more DVC'rs to dine at the table service restaurants instead of in their rooms. This would result in more income in total and since the mark up on food is so high it wouldn't cost a lot. I know we have cut back on dining out to once a day because of the expense even with the 20% lunch disounts the DVC offers.

I would love to get a free upgrade on MYW tickets. Someone else mentioned free no expiration. That wouldn't cost anything to anyone. There is no real monetary value to it and it used to be free on all multi-day tickets. It would also be a real savings to people who buy them.

Not sure we would use any kind of dining discount since the menus have become so generic and we eat in our villa more than we eat out.

If the golf discounts have been taken away, DH would like those back. Once the kids are gone, he plans to golf more at WDW.

That's the trick, isn't it? My daughter has agitated to lease a horse from time to time---if you think DVC is expensive, well...yikes!

When I asked for more than $20, i wasn't expecting them to give away the farm... I'd just like to see perks at least somewhat comporabable to the $125 and $100 discount on the annual passes offered at WDW. Also at DL there is no middle ground between the 6 day hopper at $220 and the Premium annual pass at $450. It is expensive for us to get "home" so our once a year trips last 10-14 days. We end up buying the 6 day hopper and spend more than half our days at other parks in the area (Knotts, legoland, universal etc..etc..). It doesn't make much sense for Disney to cap the hoppers at 6 days forcing us to take our money elsewhere. Just sayin...

You do have the deluxe pass at Disneyland. Unless you go during a holiday weekend, you would only be blocked out on Saturdays.

I do agree that I would like a more comparable discount on the APs. Since my wife and I usually renew our APs now, I was finally able to use the DVC discount when our son (20 yr old) came with us on the last trip as he was planning on going again this summer.

like the golf clubs and shoe rental only applealed to a limited group. Dining discounts of fast passes or a free TIW card or no expiration would benefit more people and have a broader appeal. I'm not asking for free dining, just a better discount than we are already receiving and maybe extend it to all restaurants instead of a limited few.

Well, we do get a little discount, in that we don't have to pay the "holiday" surcharge on the dining plan (which typically includes, among other times, the ENTIRE SUMMER). I also appreciate being able to have the dining plan at all, as this wasn't always available to DVC members.

BUT...You make up for the half day on the other end of your stay. Besides, your points are charged by the night, not the day. So we can't check in until 4, but we also don't check out until 11. The most you are missing is 5 hours.

When I think about DVC members wanting better perks, the best way to advocate for those perks would be to kill it with data. Specifically if DVC had better data about the money its members spend at the parks they could easily goto that specific department of Disney and show them that offering DVC members discounts would increase that departments revenues.

Example, if DVC members had a card that tracked purchases. Hide the personal information, but leave enough for good metrics.

Let time pass.

Then we'd have good information about the money spent at the parks, where DVC members are spending it. This would allow DVC to better customize the perks, it would also allow them to better negotiate future perks.

Example. If DVC gives a new perk, say a 6 month special deal on dining at a special restraunt and then after the six months they can show the data that proves that sales increased by XY% it would be easier to push for bigger discounts later.

Right now there has been some sampling undoubtedly, but no where near the comprehensive metric driven perk management that DVC members would benefit by. Kind of like a Groupon for DVC. Get the metrics out of it and then use our general purchasing power to advocate for better discounts on the things we use most.

I would love to see more discounts on park tickets. I think they should offer a DVC discount on that new pass that is good for both coasts because I think a lot of people will start trying to stop at DL on the way to/from Aulani AND I think they should offer something off on the MYW or Non-expiring tickets. I would've LOVED, LOVED, LOVED to have planned a trip this year but couldn't use AP's as we couldn't get that many days out of them and so I really just wanted to buy the non-expiring tickets but they would've cost even more! The cost of MYW tickets for just 3 or 4 days is absolutely appalling so we stayed home instead. Had there have been a discount of some sort on another type of ticket we would've had the incentive to plan for at least a long weekend. Obviously what we would've spent down there over 4 days wouldn't make or break them but we WOULD HAVE dropped several dollars down there had we gone - but we had no incentive to go.

Why do you think Disney encourages you to "charge to your room?" Hint: this is one reason. What's more, if you pay for anything with a credit card, it's fairly easy to track and correlate that back to an identified individual. The only way you can remain anonymous is by using cash, and how many of us do that for more than the odd bottle of water here and there?

In short: Disney already knows.

Just returned from vacation and got the post-stay survey. One of the questions asked was, as a DVC member, which perk you would most like. The three options were discounts on 5 day park tix for 5 years, 7 day tix for 7 days, and 7 day tix for ...(sorry I forget).

Not that I'm thinking they are seriously considering any of these options, but I did think it was funny that here is a thread talking about DVC perks.

Ok dreaming here... I would like to see a discounted number of points needed for trips booked at the last minute.

If I see a great last minute Soutwest fare, I would love to have a chance to book a room that may be going to waste for fewer than normal points.

We are very much planners and have always booked early, but willing to try to book a spur of the moment trip with some incentives.

I am all for a discount on MYW passes....We got 7 years of free park passes when we bought our DVC and got really spoiled not having to pay for passes for that time.
