The DVC will be opening a sales center in the vicinity of Roosevelt Field on Long Island. This weekend they are having a welcome weekend where they are having presentations at the Garden City Hotel. My DW and I are attending on Friday evening....anyone else from Long Island going on Friday. I recieved an invitation via e-mail and had to register to attend. Looking forward to seeing the center when it opens...
Anyone else joining us Friday?
Tom

Woodmere here. We're going Saturday morning and I can't wait! (don't why though, we have no intention of doing yet another add on!;))

Honestly...we don't know why we are going either....we really don't plan on buying any more now and really don't know what the show is all about...but we will be there....they say light refreshments....maybe it is like Welcome Home Wednesdays down in Disney World....

DH and I are going to the 1 pm on Saturday. We don't have DVC yet but if the incentives are good we will buy! Crossing my fingers...

Hi Beth, you are very close to me, I'm in Woodmere, we're practically next door.

I spoke to my guide yesterday about the current promotion. I asked if there would be anything like it offered this weekend, (or better), she said she doesn't get the info on what will be offered at the NY DVC Event, but it should be comparable to current incentives, which are $19 off per point with a member referral at AKV, and $13 off at AKV without the member referral. So you should be in a good position for buying in.
If you need more info on the member referral, just PM me, I'd be happy to help.

DH and I are attending Fri night as well...wondering whether the add-on incentives will be different than the extra discount they are offering now.....
New members here - anyone have experience? Thinking of calling my guide tomorrow for an add-on...or should I wait until Fri???

The webcast event and Boston event had better incentives than the current incentive offers (at least for BLT not sure about other resorts).

You could call your guide for the add-on paperwork. If the NY event has better incentives, get a contract there and void the other one.

I have to share with you all how much I love my husband right now! Today is my 30th bday. I'm about 36 almost 37 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child. I received the email about the Garden City event 2 weeks ago. I was upset because in order to drive to it, it might be about 2 hours away and being full term kinda made me nervous being so far from home. Well after a check up from my doctor and I'm feeling good I've really really been thinking about going. I sent my husband an email today and was like can we pleaaaaaaaaaase go pretty please. He came back with a definite YES without blinking! :cool1: Technically we would only be an hour from my hospital if anything were to happen but I think we'll be ok.

I'm SO EXCITED!!! I just signed us up for Saturday. And my daughter will get to see Mickey and Minnie again. I honestly think that will be the best part of all of it!!!! Sorry I just had to share my excitement!!

Happy Birthday!! :bday:
Which session are you attending? We will be at the 1 pm. I've never looked forward to spending so much money, lol! :teeth:

We are going Friday night and I am so excited. I am hoping the incentives are really good, enough to convince my husband to add-on. We'll see, fingers crossed. I can't wait to see my kid's faces when they see Mickey and Minnie.

We are attending on Sunday at 7 pm. We are not planning on adding on right now, but just wanted a Disney fix. I'm pretty excited.

My DW and I went tonight. It was nice and very crowded. They presented the latest promotions and confirmed that the price will increase soon to $120.00 per point. I just don't understand how, with the economy in the situation it is in...even if they say it is recovering that they increase the prices like they have..it seems like every time you turn around it is going up $8 a point....just my opinion but honestly, planning and working toward retirement is more important for me than adding on. Dont get me wrong--I love the place but wish they would just slow down a little.

I was supposed to go tonight but got stuck at work.....Was really disappointed. But it sounds like the incentives weren't above and beyond then....Makes me dislike my employer less, I guess.....How was the party?

I agree with you. When I bought in April 2008, the price was (I think) $103/point. Since then, the price has gone up to $112 and now it is going up to $120. That is a $17 increase in 17 months! I think they are getting a bit greedy, but if people keep buying, they will keep increasing. I guess that's good for current owners (who do not plan to add on). As they increase the cost per point, our existing points should increase in value as well.....or am I being naive here.

I had the date wrong. We are going Monday at 7 pm. Wow, with costs per point going up so high, I'm gald we bought when we did in 2007.
