Ok this is our second time trying to buy a DVC..last year we went on a cruise did all the paper work but when we got home, I backed out..this year again we went on a cruise and did the paper work..this time we are keeping it cause its such a great deal..my question is when do you know if you've been approve..i received a letter in the mail that just talks about credit score and also a post card from the sales man congratulating us..now what, is it a just sit and wait for the mailman everyday..i'm really looking forward this time, I want to start planning..

I'd try calling your guide. From what I have read, you don't get any notification, they just mail you the contract to sign and return. That means you've been approved. We did everything when we were down at WDW last Oct. I'd be like you and couldn't stand the wait - I'd call. Good Luck!

We were emailed a temp password to get into the dvcmember site, then a week later they sent big postcards with the info for both of us (I'm just an associate member but could have my own account? I just used hubby's info and put it on our main disney site account). That was the main way we knew we were in.

I still have not heard anything, I have left my guide 2 messages and he still has not returned my call..should I continue to wait or should I start calling member service to see if they have any info for me..

It sounds like you should be recieving your closing paper work any day now. It will be delivered via Fed Ex. You will need to sign and date all the papers and have a certain section notarized. The paperwork needs to be returned in 7 days. We just sent our back yesterday and booked our 1st trip today.

Yes, I would call MS or the main DVC # and see if you are in the system yet. Tell them you are waiting on call from your guide but want to get started if you can.

When I wanted to add on at BLT, only a week after my resale contract closed, I just called the main DVC # and they said I was in the system and gave me my member #. They transferred me to a guide and I was able to make my reservation that very same day!

Good luck!!!

Congratulations! :cheer2:

And welcome to the vaction that never really ends! With all of the possibilities of planning, preparing, reading (history, trivia), reviewing pictures, reviewing menus, telling stories, etc, the next return to your "Home in the World" is just around the corner.

It is a decision DW and I have never regetted.

Watch out for addonitis - it begins with a gentle thought when you least expect it, then it rolls . . . . :rotfl:

OK is this a bad sign?? I called DVC member service and spoke to a very nice lady..She asked for my membership number and I today her I didn['t have one so she asked for my phone number. She found me in the computer but she says she doesn't understand why my guide did not do anything with my application. she see it in the system but he did not mail the paper work that is needed from me. so she inform me that he is off today and tomorrow but to call him on Friday to see what is going on..

Didn't you already do all the paperwork needed? Did he not send the paperwork along? Or is there actually stuff he needs to do? That sounds really confusing.

the only paperwork I have done was on the cruise which was the application..and the only thing I have gotten from them in the mail is a letter telling us what our credit score is and a post card..

That is so weird!

I'm no expert and I'm brand new to this, but it's b/c of being brand new, and just recently having done all of this, that I'm so interested in what's going on with your situation. :)

Was the application just one page, or was it a whole bunch? Hubby did his application type of thing over the phone, gave the guide the down payment info. Then just a few days later there was a knock at the door, and there a huge FedEx overnight box. That box contained a DVC tote bag and a cute box containing hundreds of papers, and a planning book. Some of those papers were things that hubby had to sign (he's the one on the deed) and send back by FedEx (they included a prepaid envelope). One page had to be notarized (the mortgage page...note to all, wamu will not sign that but wells fargo, even if you're not a customer, will do the notary work on it). So he did all that and sent it back.

Only AFTER that did he get the notice with the credit score on it, and various other little letters. We also got an email with a temp password, then a few days later we got info on his member number. Few days after that we each got a postcard, his with member, mine with associate member ID numbers if memory serves (or maybe we got the member IDs numbers elsewhere, and the postcards had the temp passwords?).

We just keep on getting stuff. :)

Anyway, I would think that you're waiting for FedEx to arrive, and maybe that's what member services was confused about? Unless you already did scads of paperwork on the cruise...then I'm just stymied.

It sounds like, somehow, your application did not make it to the department that handles preparing the closing documents for your contract.

Did you put down a deposit when you made the application? If not, then I would assume that is the piece that is missing for the application to go over to closing to prepare papers.

The curious piece is why your guide does not know that your contract seems to be in limbo and why he has not contacted you to get any information needed to send it along.

I would say, if you have trouble getting in touch with your guide on Friday, I would ask to speak to a sales manager and tell him you are disappointed that things were held up and that you want a new guide. I know they are busy but there should be something in place that prevents this from happening.

Good luck!!!

I'm going to call today to see if my guide is around, if not I'm going to ask for a supervisor to help me out..Thank will keep u up to date..

Now you got me curious and wondering what is going on. Keep us updated and just wanted to add that the best incentives are usually on the cruise.

OK I can't believe that today I get a knock at the door and its Fedx with a big box from Disney..I was like what, I have still not gotten a return call from my guide and I get all my paper work..so its time to start reading, the first thing I notice was the monthly payments are different then what I was told..ok wish me luck..

Definitely, definitely keep on this!! Call your Guide or get a sales manager involved. In your "box" of stuff, there should be a number for Member Compliance, and they will call you back before the day's end if you leave a message for them. Good luck to you! :goodvibes

Ah, I guess it was just the financing application you filled out while there?

Get to reading and signing!

Assuming it's for the BLT in your sig, and assuming you're financing, and assuming the payment is LOWER than you expected, it's b/c they aren't charging dues until Sept, if memory serves. I had to call my guide about that too, and found out dues and mortgage are separate payments, not lumped together like he kept referring to.

If any of my assumptions are wrong, of course, ignore me. :)

How long does the whole finance process generally take? Is it ambitious to hope to have it all done so I can use points at end of May?

You could probably get your paperwork and be in the system in about 1.5 weeks (provided you sent it right back the day after you receive it) *but* keep in mind that DVC members have been booking their May (2009) vacations for the past 10 months, so I would expect that you are going to run into some availability problems (but you *might* be okay since most schools haven't yet let out). If, however, you are planning for 2010, you'll still be ahead of the curve for your home booking advantage. Also, if you are buying BLT, you will not be able to use your points for travel until after August, 2009, so please keep that in mind as well (you can make reservations using those points, however). :flower3:
