DVC at DLRP

Hi everyone

Hope this isn't too basic a question!

We have DVC points that we need to use up and I was looking at fitting in a trip to Disneyland Paris - however it appears that we now have to buy park tickets whereas before they were included in the stay!

The term says that Reservations at Disneyland Resort Paris require a 2-night minimum stay and require the purchase of length-of-stay Theme Park tickets for the number of registered guests.

Does this mean that if we arrive on Monday and leave on Friday we must purchase a 5-day ticket (inc Monday and Friday) or just a 3-day ticket for Tuesday - Thursday?

(Not particularly happy with having to buy tickets at all but we have 150 banked points from last year that have to be used by end September 2009 and we won't be getting over to Florida this year.)

I did check on this a while ago with DVC, and I think the answer is that you will have to buy a five-day pass. When you add the booking fee (around £75) and the high point cost, it's not a great deal.

Having said that, it's an easy way to use up points that would otherwise be lost. Have you thought about finding a week in the UK with your points? Probably better value, but no Disney magic

we have just used up some points staying at the Royal Garden Hotel kensington London. we had a great time and the hotel was fantastic with easy access to all of London.

We were upset at having to buy the length of stay passes in July as we usually get up and just leave on our last day. However we used our points for two rooms (for our friends as well) and added on a stay at Dover the night before and callais on our last night so we had more time in the parks. In the end it turned out to be our best holiday at Disneyland Paris and will do the same next year when we go.

Using points enabled me to stay at Disneyland Hotel (couldn't afford to stay here on cash). I would buy passes if paying in cash anyway, so don't feel I loose a great deal. You have to buy them when you visit WDW.

Not really, not if you no longer do the parks. My wife and I have been so often that the parks no longer feature on our list. Great restaurants, lovely resorts, relaxing pools, fun shopping etc., and we're too old for the rides anyway.

Trouble with DLRP is that there is nothing else to do except the parks. How many points is it for a night at the Disneyland Hotel these days?

I'm sorry but I can't remember the points value for Disneyland hotel.
I think having one of the most beautiful cities in the world 20 minutes away by train is certainly something else to do!!!

If you deposit them for an exchange I think this can be done for 2 years in advance, so you could use them to exchange for something else in the USA and then do a two centre stay next time you're over.

Alternatively rent them out and use the cash you receive to make a simple cash booking at DLRP.

For tickets of 3 days or longer it could be better value to get an AP - especially the restricted AP's.

But isn't that the point? Having been forced to buy park admission tickets, it seems a waste of money travelling into Paris.

By the way, we did that train journey last time we were there. I have never been so crushed on a train like we were coming back to Disney. The two of us and our two kids were standing all the way, separated and pressed on all sides. It certainly seemed a lot longer than twenty minutes!

can you buy an AP instead of the number of days needed

Yes you can buy an AP, but you CANNOT use points for a booking without purchasing length of stay passes for all people staying in the room. It's a condition of booking on points.
I take your point about having to purchase days andthen going off into central Paris.
Sorry about the awful train journey, I have alwys been lucky when travelling to/from DLRP and central Paris. I have had many a similar experience when travelling in London though!!!

I just posted a question about this on the general DVC board and they urged me to post here on the UK DVC board. Does anyone have the cost of the 3, 4 or 5+ day LOS that you need to buy in order to use points? I'm thinking for the price I'm better off at the Radisson for $100 as night and buying the Francilien.

Hi,

I can give you the price of the 3 and 4 day tickets as that is what I asked about before I made my recent booking for DLP using my points.

The 3 day pass is $144.45 and the 4 day pass is $168.60 per adult.

I also have the points values for each hotel during regular and value season if anyone is interested?
