I had to post this because I've been rather harsh regarding DVC and WDW lately.

Some of my faith has been restored in the last 2 days. :goodvibes

I heard from Carli Dagostino regarding a message I had left her and then a follow up letter I sent when I wasn't called back.

It appears I received the letter regarding commercial renting in error. I was also told otheer may have received it in error as well. Somehow I was flagged and the letter was sent. In the end the only conclusion to be drawn is that maybe due to my phone conversation with DVC legal, I was flagged by mistake. They really are not sure, but I did receive a sincere apology.

We discussed other areas of concern I have with DVC and I felt she was genuinely interested in what I had to say and she even took notes of some of my comments.

It appears the 20 rentals per year number is in fact a trigger to "flag" your DVC account. I had 23 rentals over 12 years. That according to her no way qualifies me as a commercial renter. That is what really burned me. :furious:

I was gald to get the response and get to "clear the air" a little about my feelings. It was nice to see someone is listening.

if they were really going for the people who only rented twice or three times a year - you won't be the only one upset.! :thumbsup2

glad everything worked great for you!

Wow, they were way off in their count I'm glad that you feel better.

Bobbi :)

Dumbo71,

Did you sell some of your points when you got your letter, or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes that was me. I sold about 1100, well almost, one contract is still pending ROFR.

It was a series of things that led to downsizing my points. We had a crummy stay on our last DVC trip, didn't care for the cooler pools, food service was downsized and quality had slipped, and then came the letter. We had also talked about getting out while the points still had value. We actually made money when we sold. We stayed for 12 years for less than the cost of dues.

I guess the letter was the last straw so to speak.

For now we'll continue our annual trips and see how things play out. You never know what the future holds. We may sell the rest when SR is done selling or (gasp) we may add on if things improve and WDW gets some new direction.

Glad to hear you got a positive response. Sometimes things aren't as bad as they first seem. And sometimes they're worse! Glad to hear your situation turned out okay.

I'm glad you got this call, I know you must feel better about things now.

I didn't get a letter and I'm likely around the same totals as you are at least per year, with maybe a few more rentals over a longer period of time. I'm planning on selling for different reasons, to narrow my points I own, do other travels and trade in to DVC through II instead of using points directly. I had previously sold about a third of my points and already had plans to sell essentially all of my points with a fairly small add on or two that I will soon add and will end up being my sole ownership in the range of 50-75 pts most likely.

Dumbo71,

It sounds like you were considering selling anyway, but I think it's just crummy that you sold based on the contents of a letter from DVC that they now say you received by mistake........D'oh!

Thanks for posting the info., Dumbo. But I thought I read on another thread that Carli was no longer in that position??
