DTD Traffic & Saratoga Springs?

We always get a rental car when we visit the World and are considering getting a 2 bedroom villa at Saratoga Springs for our next vacation. But the thought of driving through the multiple lights and traffic at Downtown Disney multiple times a day has me second guessing Saratoga Springs. On Mapquest it looks like there is a road the runs behind the resort and golf course and cuts over to Bonnet Creek Parkway. Is this a good choice for avoiding the DTD traffic/lights? :moped:

That is Vacation Club Way, and it is where the main entrance to SSR lies.

It's only 2 lanes and the speed limit is 30, but it's a good road that usually moves freely. It's used by all buses going to & from SSR & OKW, and also by buses coming into DTD most of the day.

When you reach Bonnett Creek, you can continue straight across the light onto Epcot Center Dr. to get to all of the parks except DHS. For DHS, you turn left on Bonnett Creek, then right on Buena Vista. (You can get to DHS via Epcot Center Dr., but it's the long way around, except when the left turn lane into DHS from BVD is backed up.)

You can also turn right on Bonnet Creek, then left at the dead end and go to MK that way, past Fort Wilderness. Much quicker.

That will get you to CR & the other MK resorts, but Vista Way (the road past FtW) does not get you into the MK parking lot.

I've timed the 2 routes, and they're just about equal going to CR.

Great info by our fellow DISers. Bottom line, you'll never have a need to head towards DTD and hotel row (Buena Vista Dr), unless you want to leave property (for groceries, outlet malls, etc). Otherwise, you can easily spend your whole vacation in the car and never see DTD if you desire (and avoid the traffic).

If you need groceries turn right out of the main enterance to SSR at the dead end turn right onto Buena Vista Way at the dead end turn left onto Hotel Plaza Blvd- this end of the road is not that bad to travel on unlike right in front of DTD.

At the traffic light for 535 turn left but stay in the outside lane. And at the next traffic light turn right on to Palm Parkway and about 4 -5 miles down the road is a Super Walmart open 24 hours and has a liquir store next door..

Or for a closer supermarket you could turn right on 535, go under the freeway (I-4), immediate left on Vineland, and in a mile or so there's a Publix on the left. It's only open until 11, though. Publix is great; it's where a lot of locals shop. Good prices, good quality.

The closest supermarket is just right across from the Hotel Plaza entrance to WDW: Goodings. Just go down Hotel Plaza Blvd and straight through the light into the parking lot. It's crazy expensive, as you'd kind of expect from the Closest Supermarket to Disney World (TM). But if you want quick food, it's a good choice.

You can also use Overpass Road and Backstage Lane to reach Buena Vista Drive (or the Studios) without going through the lights near DTD.
