Hi, my DH, DD and friend will be taking our first trip home the first week of September---we recently bought in to SSR. :Pinkbounc
My question is---we've already made our reservations---can't wait to get there :cool1: ---and have requested a room facing DTD. We are particularly interested in the fireworks....has anybody else done this and if so, how successful were you in getting the requested accomodations and did you take in the fireworks from your balcony?
Many thanks!

hi!

hubby and i waited one night last year for the fireworks, while enjoying some beverages in the hot tub at ssr.. they are over in about 1 minute.. nothing great at all!

Last summer we watched the fireworks from our SSR balcony. They are not very long, but we really enjoyed them. If you are usually "night owls," this is nice to see, and I'm glad that we did it. But this summer I think that I'll pass and get my sleep for the next early morning! It's all a matter of taste.

Well, at least you had the hot tub and beverages....right now, I think that sounds pretty good---a little tired of cold weather!
Was your experience at SSR an altogether pleasant one? Thanks for your response!

We had a 1BR and really enjoyed it. I think it was because we like DTD so much and the walk to DTD is maybe 15 minutes. We were there almost every night. We were treated very well at SSR - loved the furnishings and service. Different people have not been happy with Artist's Pal., but we had lunch there one day and it was very good. The selection is limited and it might not be very appealing to a "meat and potatoes" type of person. Absolutely no complaints and a very memorable vacation.

Did anybody stay at SSR during the 4th of July? How is the 4th of July firework at DTD?

I was there for the 4th, but was at the parks, which were just wonderful! They were about double what you usually get(at Epcot). We spent the next hour sitting in traffic--there are so many people at the parks that the roads are a parking lot. You just sit---I don't know that I would go to the parks next year, I was just amazed by the sheer amount of traffic on the roads. Other than the 4th, the fireworks from DTD were--um, let's see--brief. Don't blink! ;)

That was my mistake, I heard them but didn't see them due to blinking.

During our stay at SSR last year, my DD9 stayed up almost every night to watch the DTD fireworks from our balcony. She thought it was so cool. But by the time she called us over to see them, they were done. But she didnt mind, she liked dancing to the loud music.
