drivers have it hard!

vhoffman, were was the whining. A story told, you can or can't believe it. Just an example of what it is like to deal with the public.

he signs papers that states if plane is more then 15 min.late the driver cannot make the grocery stop tom agrees.

Limo rides are booked via the telphone or the web. People may agree to terms but they don't sign papers. NO QUESTION OP is either making up or emblishing the story. In this case the limo company agreed to make the grocery stop anyway.

Seashore the difference is a delayed flight is out of the control of the customer BUT the limo company has a way to know in advance the updated arrival time. In this case the limo company had no trouble getting coverage for the second arrival. The limo driver was annoyed he wasn't getting the work.

I am also skeptical that the only compensation is $15.

The story sounds fishy to me, too. It sounds like a limo driver is trying to make us feel sorry for them and give larger tips. Not unlike the van driver in Las Vegas who laments to the rest of the passengers that someone left without paying him the total fare, just handed him some folded bills that didn't come out to enough. Like the driver didn't count the bills???I used to fly there routinely on business and saw this guy pull the same line every time I rode his van. It always resulted in other passengers feeling sorry for him and giving him extra tips to "make up" for the amount he was stiffed. Since most travelers aren't repeat customers he got away with it. I figured I gave him an even bigger "tip" by not reporting him--I didn't feel like the hassle. Plus, his little drama provided entertainment during the ride.

No we cannot flat fee in Vegas, that is why I am moving to Orlando in Feb., so I can run my business as I see fit and make my money for me not for the company.

When I get to Orlando I will be starting my own website and will advertise flat rates on R/T from both airports apprx. $15 to $30 less than ANY town car in Orlando. How does MCO R/T PR $75 w/ optional grocery stop AND front gate photo at no extra charge?

Beat that on FLT!!!!!!

Good luck with your new business.

TY Gail,

Hopefully, I can convince the towncar brainwashed folks on this board to save a few bucks and ride in the luxury of a Crown Vic instead of the luxury of a Town Car. Same ride, similar car, less money, not to mention a really nice driver that knows the excitement of a trip to Disney.

Come to Orlando first, check the new insurance rates, all the permits you got to have (City of Orlando,Oscela county,Airport,Port Canaveral), the fees you pay for each time you get inside the airport, tolls, and etc, than you will figure out that if you charge $15.00 to $30.00 less than the TC companies you will not survive a week here.

I wish you good luck though.

i am not trying to make any one feel sorry for me or any one else that drives a limo or even a taxi.the whole thing is customers will take time out of there busy schedule to complain about something then give credit.if you dont know me then you dont know how i am.i would rather take the credit then the extra tip any day.its called bragging rights.like some one else said you could swindle some one into giving you an extra tip but you cant swindle them into leaving good feedback.around here some one can say his customer gave him $40.00 extra.and we all just say cool.but when you go to the shop and there is an email from a customer on the board bragging about a driver its the talk for days.so you chose brakking rights or money.me ill take the rights.and a boss lokks for that they dont look at the extra tips you get to judge you they look for the emails.and as far as the trip rate i can send you proof if you want it.i have no reason to lie all im saying is if you had a good driver wether its from a cab, limo,or even the disney buss then give the credit and not just when you have a bad trip.

I realize good customer feedback is valuable, but sometimes it can backfire. Several years ago I broke my right hand and it was in a cast. It was impossible for me to pump gas. A kind gas station attendant routinely pumped the gas for me and I always came during his shift. Sometimes there was only one person on duty, so he would lock the cash register and door and come out to pump my gas. I was on a very limited budget and couldn't give him a tip, but I thought a good word to the company would be in his favor. I wrote a letter to the CS department of the gas company. Wrong move! they notified the owner of the station that this guy was leaving his post unattended. I found out later through thrid parties that he was later fired. If I'd just kept my mouth shut...So I really hesitate to write detailed letters to management about how someone helped me. Instead I just write a general letter about how nice and helpful so and so was, without the details. I still feel awful about the gas station guy. I bet that's the last time he does a good deed.

What's the benefits of a taxi over a limo? How much is a one-way from MCO to DTD? How much should I tip? How would a taxi arrange a grocery stop? I guess the good thing would be you get the taxi when you get there. If the plane is late, no one's waiting for you. Probably wouldn't be a good idea (taxi) during busy times, but we're going during a slow time so I'd imagine it wouldn't take long to get a cab. How do I get one? Can I request a specific cab, company, etc., or first in line?

First things first,

All the permits, etc. are owned by the cab company, IE Yellow cab, Diamond, cab, etc. The driver drives the cab and pays the company a "gate" (or a lease) . Drivers are independant contractors and overhead is approx. $100 a day (lease + gas). The driver keeps ALL his earnings, therefore a cab driver runs his own business his way.

Secondly, you can get a cab as you arrive at the airport, or you can order one ahead of time, same as a limo or towncar. Check out www.taxi-mco.com those guys have their own website and set their own prices and offer top notch service thru several cab companies.

We always use a towncar, but we ended up taking a taxi from Port Orleans to MCO once when we had a last minute change of plans and extended our trip. The taxi definitely cost more than the towncar, and the rates I've seen posted at MCO are more than we pay for our towncar transportation. The bellman called the cab for us, so it was Checker, which seems to be the cabs used by WDW.
