Drive Like the Wind Bullseye!! March 11 - March 18, 2017 - COMPLETE

Day 4 – Part One

Since the big kids didn’t come to dinner with us the night previous, we had some extra table service credits. I quietly woke of DH and suggested we sneak down to the Wave for breakfast. He agreed and we got dressed and headed down.

Now I’m about to tell you guys something. This place is a HIDDEN GEM when it comes to breakfast. We did not have an ADR and we were seated right away.

We were greeted and given coffee and juice and then we hit the buffet. I usually can’t get decent photos of the food on the buffet, but this place was practically empty, so snuck back there with my camera. I only got a couple weird looks, so I hope it was worth it to you guys.

Here are our plates

This was a FANTASTIC buffet. Everything was so good and the restaurant was so mice and quiet. It was just what we needed to start our busy day.

We went back to wake up the kids and drag them out of bed for our day at Animal Kingdom.

Finally had the time to read this. I have driven straight through from Philadelphia quite a few times now and HATE it. It's a good 16-17 hours depending on traffic and we always hit traffic.

The kids are getting so big. Wish our plans had overlapped so we could have met up again. The shrimp and grits looks good, I passed on that because it left a really bad impression on me one year. Wish I hadn't done that now.

I've never done Whispering Canyon but that food looks great and the kind my husband would have really liked. With his latest health issues I need to figure out if I need to mention them on ADR's now but some of that looks like it will send his BP sky high.

Your daughter has a nice eye with her pictures. Did she use a camera or her phone?

Hey Lorrie!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

I sort of hated the drive as well. But I would do it again to get back to Disney!!

They ARE getting big. Nathan is 5'9" and Hannah is 5'7" and her I am at 5'4" on a good day. I wish we could have seen each other as well. The shrimp was really good and nice and hot which was good because it was chilly that day.

We really loved Whispering Canyon. It can get really loud and chaotic in there though. But we were lucky and got sat in the back where it was more quiet. I hope the hubs gets to feeling better soon.

She really does have a nice eye. She just used her iphone7 the whole time. She even edited the photos on her iphone. It kept her busy in the car ont he way home.

I'll do the drive if I have to if it means Disney also so I under stand that. Just hate the drive.

Wow they are getting big. My 13 y/o grandson just edged me out height wise and my granddaughter isn't far behind. I'm 5'3" on my best day and when I wake up.

I heard the IPhones have decent cameras, my DD has one and uses it. Thought the pictures had some processing done but they really came out nice.

They do have a decent camera. I'm not sure which processing app she used.

Day 4 - part Two

We entered the park and headed towards Everest for our fast passes. The whole group was with us this time. The big kids wanted to eat with us at Yak and Yeti where we had a reservation for lunch at 1 PM.

This photo is for show – don’t let it fool you – it was packed.

Since we had and ADR – we were seated within about 10 minutes.

For starters we got

Wok-Fried Green Beans - battered green beans, sweet Thai chili dipping sauce $9.99

[/URL
http://s1092.photobucket.com/user/jecskc/media/Disney 2017/Day 4/DSC04779.jpg.html]

DH and I weren’t super hungry, so we split

Kalbi Steak & Coconut Shrimp
- grilled marinated flat iron steak, mango-pineapple salsa, coconut shrimp, chili plum sauce, wasabi mashed potatoes, stir-fried vegetables $28.99

]

This was good and easy to split. Plenty of food. And shrimp. I ate it. I was fine. It was delicious.

DD got

Chicken and French fries.

http://s1092.photobucket.com/user/jecskc/media/Disney 2017/Day 4/DSC04785.jpg.html]

DS and the GF split this.

Teriyaki Chicken - marinated chicken, pineapple-onions-pepper skewer, Teriyaki glaze, coconut-ginger rice, stir-fried vegetables $20.99

[/URL
http://s1092.photobucket.com/user/jecskc/media/Disney 2017/Day 4/DSC04784.jpg.html]

Again -a lot of food and plenty for them to eat. After they ate that, they took off on their own again to explore.

DH, DD and I stayed for dessert.

DH and I each got

Fried Wontons
- Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $8.99

[/URL
http://s1092.photobucket.com/user/jecskc/media/Disney 2017/Day 4/DSC04786.jpg.html

Angels sang, y’all. I love this dessert so, so much. Absolutely fantastic!!

DD got

New York Cheesecake
- with mango and strawberry coulis, whipped topping $8.49

Except she got it plain.

Because she is boring.

She ate it all though, so it must have been good.

I would eat at Yak and Yeti just for that dessert. Those wontons are fantastic. Love your daughters PLAIN cheesecake.

The wontons are my main motivation to eating there. They are just so good. But we have never been disappointed in our meal at this restaurant. We go there almost every trip and the kids always love it, too.

Love it so far...we rode up front on Everest last year, they let us skip to the front as it was Mothersday..it was awesome! Never eaten in Yak and Yeti yet it looks delish, my fav in the whole park is those little Samosas!! omg I could eat a ton of them..mmm

I love riding up front Ironically, it feels faster when you ride in the back. We love the Yak and Yeti. the kids love it, too. I will have to check out the Samosas next time!!

Just checked out your FB page...omg amazing!!! I will say hi on it :)

I just spent a while reading your TR and it's great!! I think my DS could give your DD a run for her money as to the pickiest eater! Mac and cheese and pizza are staples! Was the mac & cheese on the kids menu at California Grill? He's always embarrassed to order off the kids menu and will settle for a caesar salad if that's offered as an appetizer. Disney is very good for special requests menu wise.
We, too, spend spring break at Disney/Universal. As the kids are adults, we find Universal suits our tastes better sometimes- the deluxe resorts there are amazing! We're just blessed that two adults sons want to spend spring break with their parents!

Thanks Patty!! I'n so glad you are reading along.

I dunno - my DD is SUPER picky. She won't even eat salad.

Yes, the mac and cheese is on the children's menu, but I think they gave her an adult portion. The waiter says it is made from scratch and DD said it was good and she ate it all.

That is great the adult kids still like to travel with you. To tell the truth, I'm looking forward to leaving DS at home next trip. He's been sort of a buzzkill the last couple of trips - not wanting to do stuff with us, sleeping all day, not coming to dinner - it made me crazy. And to me - it is a waste of money. He will be 18 this year, so next year DD and I are looking to do a girls trip, maybe. It will be more fun :-)

Day 4 – Part Four

We get back to the resort and DD has a gift card she wants to spend. And it is burning a hole in her pocket. She MUST spend this money. It needs to be TODAY and it needs to be at Disney Springs.

We looked in all of the shops.

We REALLY liked this store.

I mean I LOVED the stuff they had in here. But the largest size they had in most things was a large. And since I am way too chubs for that, I didn’t buy anything. If I lost about 30 pounds though, I would buy that store out. I ALMOST got a super cute jacket. I loved the jackets they had. And they had some XL’s, but I live in South Texas, and I wasn’t sure how much I was going to use a $70 jacket.

But dang they were cute.

Here is what it looked like

But they had them in several different colors.

Anyhoodle, we moved on. DD was holding out for the Coca Cola Store.

This was fun and we drank some of them and didn’t like some of them. But it was neat to try them all. I think there is another one that has ice cream in several of them.

Anyway, after that, I was so tired and we needed to get back and get some dinner and then we had Rivers of Light. I was so excited to see it. So we hopped on a bus back to the resort.

Hey FrozenOne!!

I was tempted to try the ice cream one, but I wasn't that hungry, so we opted for just the international tray. I imagine during most times of the year that ice cream would melt super fast. I'm so glad you are reading along and that you took the time to say hello :-)

Day 4 – Part Five

We got back to the Contemporary and I picked up a sandwich at the Contempo Café for DH and I to split for dinner.

I got.

Hot Turkey Sandwich - roasted turkey, smoked bacon, shaved apple, arugula, tomato, and cranberry aioli on toasted multigrain bread $11.79

This was a very good sandwich and plenty for two people.

DD got a nutritious sugar cookie

The big kids were off doing their thing, so we gathered up DH and headed back over to Animal Kingdom to see Rivers of Light.

We parked and headed in. It was just getting dark and it was windy and chilly. There was a projection show playing on the Tree of Life, which was really cool. So we watched that for a minute.

It was about time for our fast pass, so we head over to the stadium and took a seat.

Since it was windy, I don’t think the water screens were as effective, but otherwise, we really enjoyed it. Here are few photos. DD took one and the rest I got from the interwebs because I didn’t want my camera to bother anyone, plus I wanted to enjoy the show.

http://s1092.photobucket.com/user/j...8e86b79e-61c2-4e92-b015-7d85a28aa735.jpg.html

Worth a fast pass for sure because the stadium was packed. We saw the first show at 8:30 ish, but there was a HUGE line the for the later show that was at 10, I think

Right after the show, we ran over and got in line for Expedition Everest.

The wait said 30 minutes, but we were on in 10. This was the first time we ever rode Everest at night. And it was around 50 something degrees, so it was chilly. But it was great fun.

After that DD and DH took off for Dinosaur. They got right on, so they rode while I waited. And then we left and went back to the resort for some much needed rest.
