Dress code for parks

This is an outrage, the nerve of that CM. I think all women visiting Disney should protest by wearing tube tops :thumbsup2 say...this summer ....like around June :rotfl: :yay:

Shall we have "Free the twins" screen printed on the front?:rotfl:

The only comment I have is to the folks saying the CM's comment was rude. If that is a direct quote and the only thing that was said it would seem rude.

With that said however we don't know what the CM said, we don't know how she said it or at what point in the exchange she said it. If the entry line was beig held up after the CM tactfully said to the woman her attire was inappropriate. If she said something a little more harsh and or final to get the woman and her husband out of the line to allow other guests who were being delayed access, then I applaud her.

We live in a world were people more and more are using the Jerry Springer method of problem solving, wasting everyone's time arguing until they tire thier opponent out rather then simply (in this case) putting on the free Tee shirt and having fun.

What we need to do is support people who are enforcing rules that help us all have a better exprience.

I guess people mis understood the bathing suit post I made. There was someone who talked about weight and people in suits ,and another who said that her DH and her were sick of looking at people dress inappropriately. Thats who I was talking about. And I don't like the looks of everyone or there tastes too, but we have to remember that a good portion of guests at Disney are foriegn, and in there country, what they are wearing is just fine. And may not understand out "ways". I've just learned to not care what people look like at the pool, because I'm no bathing queen either.

Disney World Guest Appearance Guidelines
Disney World reserves the right to exclude visitors to their gated attractions who wear clothing that could create a distraction. This policy is in effect at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney MGM Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Pleasure Island and Disney Quest.

Examples of unacceptable attire includes:

~Clothing displaying offensive messages/language

~Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (children under age 10 are excluded)

~Clothing made with offensive material, (ie transparent)

~Clothing that is excessively torn

~Clothing which exposes inappropriate portions of the body such as string bikini tops, G-strings, bikini bottoms, etc.

~Guests wearing wedding attire are discouraged from entering the Theme Parks

All Disney Theme Park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate clothing.

Disney's Pleasure Island, Disney Quest, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have other criteria in place which may vary from the general appearance guidelines. Depending on the venue and event, variations may be acceptable.

I find it quite funny that according to Disney rules, tube tops are actually appropriate. There is absolutely nothing in the rules that states anything like a tube top is innapropriate. Of course, as I stated before, if it's got a humungous V cut down the middle, and no sides to it, it would be just like a bathing suit top, which would be considered inappropriate.

So we've basically just had a 15 page discussion about tube tops violating Disney rules, when in fact, according to Disney rules, they don't.

That, my friends, is what I call pointless....lol.

has anyone seen a picture of the article of clothing in question yet?
or talked to the OP?

I don't think that anyone has been arguing that they shouldn't enforce the rules, rather that the rules need to be clear and not open to interpretation. Unfortunately, this is a problem with many dress codes unless you specify a uniform.

Okay, maybe that CM was a little rude about how the OP's wife was dressed. I don't see why he's making such a huge deal about it and saying he's never going to Disney etc. Just seems silly to let one person spoil the magic.
I like wearing (very) low cut things, but in Disney I don't. It's a family park after all, and I think when you're dressing for disney that needs to be taken into consideration. I'd personallybe happy to get a free tshirt! ;)

All rules are open to interpretation, CM's just like security people, and Law enforcement etc. use discretion all the time in the application of rules. Trust me we don't want it any other way.

The important thing to remember is that 99% of us get it right on our own, many without even reading the policy in question. My problem is with the 1% who either are blissfully unaware and have poor judgment or decide the rules don't apply and do what ever they feel like.

That was why I said we need to support the CM's who are willing to confront people. I think too many of them just ignore things because they don't want to deal with what I am sure that CM had to deal with from that woman's husband.

I didn't make the comment, but IMO if you are litterally hanging out of your top on all sides, bottom included, wearing little more than an eyepatch for a bikini, or have on a suit that is clearly too small...then you are inappropriately dressed. Even at the pool, I think decency should be expected. Regardles of what size you are.

I agree decency should be expected regardless of what size you are. I don't have a problem with some of the strapless top shown most of them are tastefull and look nice. But wearing beachwear or bikini tops to the parks is not appropiate IMO, as it's a family park. I think bikini's and bathing suits should be worn at the pool, beach or water park.

Although not specifically stated - it would fall under this category. But that goes back to the whole "everything must be stated in black and white-preferably with a sign" issue.

One thing - I would not really classify most of the tube tops posted here as tube tops. A tube top is a strip of material without straps -usually very elastic/stretchy - that fits around your **** area only, leaving your upper chest/shoulders bare as well as your mid-drift.

Since when are shoulders, upper chests, and backs "innapropriate areas". Look at what examples they give, string bikini tops, g-strings, bikini bottoms. It doesn't fall under any of those categories. According to their examples, anything that covers more than a strink bikini top (which a tube top would) is considered ok.

Like I said, unless you're wearing a bikini top, or wearing a shirt that shows as much, this thread is pointless....lol

I don't agree. A tube top does NOT always show your midriff. It is elastic, and strapless, but it can cover your whole midsection as well.

The only way to get to the bottom of this is to see more pictures.

Ladies, please post more pictures of women in tube tops. popcorn::

Okay I started reading this thread yesterday and I think I have come up with a great solution.

Next year will be disney's "Year Where No One Offends Anyone!"
Rules:
1) Women must be covered from head to toe.
2) Men must also be covered with no offensive clothing, sorry guys with the beer guts your going to have wear a girdle.
3) There will be no one riding the rides cause all guests will be in the queue areas saying,"No after you." " Oh no, after you!"
4) No one will make ADR in fear of taking up a reservation for someone else

**This will be the best year ever!!**:lmao: :lmao:

LOL! :rotfl2: :woohoo: yay for the best year EVER! That's too funny!

I've come to realize that you can't please everyone all the time... It has to be difficult for Disney to try to do just that!

p.s. I want to see the strapless top in question. I've worn strapless tops before to Disney and had no problems. They fully covered my torso section and I wore a good-fitting bra underneath...

I am 17 and i am going to DW in April. I plan on wearing a strapless shirt. One that covers my stomach. I am a large girl(and proud of it) and I don't come out of my shirt so i plan on wearing them. They keep me cool and my prom is the week after and i don't want tan lines. I have seen bigger women in strapless shirts during past trips and I see nothing wrong with it as long as the what is supposed to stay in the top stays in the top.

Was this mentioned?
I read the opening post again and it looks like a fabricated story.

I would be kind of sad if this was a fabricated story. The fact that we discussed so much about a fabricated story.... ugh. But on the plus side, I guess it was a good topic anyway since so many people viewed and responded.
