Dress code for parks

I had to read through 7 pages to catch back up!
I think this is really getting dumb too. The one person who thinks no midriffs or backs to show??? Whats up with that? I have in the past worn shirts that have shown ALOT of my 34DD cleavage. I have worn tops that weren't much more than a bathing suit ,and never once had anyone say anything. I was skiny back then too! And I looked fine. I didn't look street at all. I was there with my kids! It was clothes that were in style!
I have gained quite a bit of weight since my last child, and I went recnetly and wore t-shirts and shorts. But if I still had the old body, I might have worn some belly showing shirts, and I am 38 Years Old now. I find NOTHING wrong with it or sexual either, really. I could care less what others wear, for the most part.
I guess if I was the OP, I would've taken the shirt, put it on, and then took it off later, if I was hot!

also someone posted that people weren't appropriately dressed at the pool??? How?? Like I said I am larger now than I used to be ,and especially in my legs. No way to hide that in a suit of any kind! Even when I am thin, my legs are still larger than I like and have cellulite! As far as I know, they don't make suits to cover legs. I wish! I think Speedos are nasty, but in some countries that is the norm. So nothing I can do about that. It just would be my choice, but if others feel fine, thats great! I guess at a pool, I think no one should EVER judge, because that is just a place where people feel self concious alot anyways, and they want to have fun and not always can help the way they look in a suit! Even if they buy the one best suited for there size.

Hey, the pool is a whole different place, we are talking about inside the parks and as I stated the reason for stating that was to draw a definite line, which seems to be quite blurry. When I have kids I will not let my children (esp. my daughters) go out with something strapless, no back or that has a bare mid-riff. I think we should dress modestly (except in private you can do whatever there and that's the way it always should be), now I am not trying to force everyone to, as I said I was trying to give a definite line as people were saying there wasn't one, that is the line that Disneyland is beginning to draw as well by the way. not quite there yet, but getting there.

i had to read through 12 to catch up! Without going into an essay, i think tube tops like the one we saw depicted a few pages back, the orange one, should be allowed. Not only is she covered on top but the rest of it is long, flowing, and very modest. I dont wear tube tops myself because i just dont like how they look on me,but i would like to have the choice to wear one if i wanted and i think i could... im only 5'2 and 115, and a 32B. So i dont think itd be "too revealing" or whatever, if you are talking size.

However, tubetops like the one someone else posted that was just pretty much a band around the breasts is a bit excessive.

Still, some people get in with things, some dont, it prob depends on the CM working that day and how strictly they enforce the rules. It sucks, but its life. Like isaid before, if they didnt like what id wear, would i be a little annoyed? sure. But it is disney, it is their rules, and id respect them and put something over it and just continue about my day. no big deal.

Hey, where are these places where tube tops keep flying off left and right? I need to do some research.

You know, if people worried more about their own business, and less about somebody else's fashion choices, we'd all be better off.

Personally, I think a nose piercing is a lot more disgusting than *GASP* SOMEBODY'S BARE SHOULDER!

But it's none of my beezwax either way, and it's nobody else's either.

One of the things that gets lost on people is that when somebody dresses in that revealing a manner, they either (A), don't give a rat's patoot what you think, or (B) they actually want to get a charge out of you. Either way, getting yourself in a bunch isn't going to help the situation at all.

There is a line between tasteful and gross.

And apparently for you, that "line" is weight.
I think flabby arms are gross, so tell Granpa and Grandma to cover up.
A 12 year old in shorts so small and tight that she may as well be wearing wet underwear ? Definitely gross.
Guy in sleeveless shirt showing off all his chest & armpits hair ? Very, very gross. Mickey should be handing out razors.

(BTW.. wouldn't be caught dead in a tube top.)

if that baby were older would that outfit be appropriate? No, of course not, why? Because that top could easily slip and become something to explain to your 4 year old son later.

"Timmy, women have ****s." That should do it.

14 pages that started over a tube top. Who woulda thought? haha.

I think this whole story sounds a little fishy to me.

All I gotta say is I hope a whole lot of people wear outrageous clothes when I am back in WDW cause I would like the lines to be shorter.

Everyone wear tube tops in Feb 08 please ... except for me ... I don't own one. I'll be the one first in line at every ride wearing my usual plain, un-marked tee shirt (ok ... sometimes the tee shirt has a picture of a little cat or puppy on it), normal plain jeans or plain capris, plain white socks ... plain white sneakers and maybe a hat with Mickey on it. (No heelies for me). :rolleyes1

not sure what the purpose of your post is???

That there really is some sort of a dress code? It seems like it would belong on this "tube top" thread if it was going to be put anywhere. (Not that I should speak for "xnascar2x" but I have.)

But that was posted pages ago and it doesn't really clear anything up.

I think the OP would of been happier if the CM would of said, "Your wife looks hot in that tube top, but sweety, she has to cover it up, not every one appreciates a beautiful women". But then he would think the CM was trying to pick up his wife. It's a no win situation w/some people.

Great Thread! Just wanted to subscribe just in case the OP posted a picture.:surfweb:

When my 65 year old dad is in WDW he takes pictures of women that are well lets say not so modestly dressed. He also makes us take pictures of him while touching statues in umm the wrong places. We can't take him anywhere!princess: princess: pirate:

Hey, Buzz! Is it Civics, or World History, that would show people that there are several “Americas”, each consisting of multiple countries?
Well, I was under the impression that the poster I was referring to was referring to "The United States of America" when he stated "America" (as opposed to the North American continent, the Central American region, or the South American continent -- none of which would have made any sense in that context). I will cheerfully admit that I also meant "The United States of America" when I worded my reply. After all, I figured all of the readers of the WDW section of DISboards would certainly be aware that the Walt Disney World Resort was located in the United States of America.

You have my deepest and most sincere apologies for any confusion this may have caused you.

This is an outrage, the nerve of that CM. I think all women visiting Disney should protest by wearing tube tops :thumbsup2 say...this summer ....like around June :rotfl: :yay:

^ LOL! Touche.

Okay so I posted the "orange tube top" photo and if I had known that there was some kind of dress code I certainly wouldn't have worn it. Disney is a family park and I don't think it's out of line for them to regulations on what to wear, even in the summer.

In truth, if they had told me at the gate that I was wearing something inappropriate, I would have been a little miffed, due to the mere inconvience of having to go back to the hotel and change or whatever and we all know how much there is to fit into a day at disney. ;)

By the dress code posted, your orange top (I certainly wouldn't think of it is a tube top) is MORE than appropriate.

Being there is 2 sides to every story I would think it must have been a very skimpy or revealing top for anyone to say that. If not then she was out of line. People should use good judgement with what they wear when around children. And apparantly old biddy CM's as well. Hope you think twice about what happened. It will still be a magical place, and you will be the one missing out.

I said something about the pool, but what I said was not about a person's weight. My comment was not about judging how a person looks at the pool!! My comment had NOTHING to do about being dressed wrong at the pool. I just said that I didn't like it when women left the pool with bikinis on and went straight into the food court to eat. I am talking about when they are walking around the food court in their bikinis, soaking wet, dripping water everywhere. At least put a cover up on. Everyone should do this not just the women.

And apparently for you, that "line" is weight.

I also said what is either way to peopel is subjective.

Yes, weight has something to do with it for some things. There are plenty of things I have seen thin women wearing that are far from tasteful as well. Like a teenager at SFOT last summer who was going commando in shorts that were... well she showed more than Britney did of her bits. The girl was very thin but that still did not make it ok or tasteful in my opinion (again, I already siad this is subjective) for the girl to show her who ha to the world.

Now how I feel about appropriate clothing does not mean that large women are not beautiful. Heck, I'm hotter at size 18 than I was at a size 3! But that still does not mean I think it is ok to dress with my belly hanging out or my butt hanging out.

All this is irrelevant. Strapless tops can and do come down on rides and I think that is more to the point of the original post. And my 4 year old DS is all to familliar with the names for body parts! We have to get him to stop pointing and saying "mommy, she has big boo*s" OR like the other day when we were buying car tags and he informed the whole office that his wee wee was full and he needed to pee right now. I'm not worried about him being flashed at the parks too much. I just don't want to see it myself. If I want to see naked women I will (and honestly have) go to the local strip club on ladies night.

I asked while we were on the topic if there were dress codes at the water parks and pools, but not commenting about weight there. Just wondeirng if there was a dress code. And as far as I am concerned the appropriate bathing suit is one that fits and is not a thong. Oh, and if it is one of those that is split down the front and you have the body for it... it should be well secured with double sided tape and not gotten wet! Personally I wear a full coverage racerback suit. The racerback keeps it put where it is supposed to be, the full coverage keeps my ginormous butt covered.

Okay I started reading this thread yesterday and I think I have come up with a great solution.

Next year will be disney's "Year Where No One Offends Anyone!"
Rules:
1) Women must be covered from head to toe.
2) Men must also be covered with no offensive clothing, sorry guys with the beer guts your going to have wear a girdle.
3) There will be no one riding the rides cause all guests will be in the queue areas saying,"No after you." " Oh no, after you!"
4) No one will make ADR in fear of taking up a reservation for someone else

**This will be the best year ever!!**:lmao: :lmao:

In all joking aside I do think from what I read and understand that the CM was very rude in the manner it was presented to me. I'm not crazy going anywhere (not just the world) and seeing flesh hung out all over the place.
I have small children and for those of you who know there is nothing that keep them from saying what they think. So if my children make a remark, please dont' get mad because I'm sure they will. If you don't want to hear those remarks then cover it up!

As far as what I tell my children, it's like movies or performers. That is something we don't do in real life. I will say I don't think I have the guts to wear a tube top, but if it is hot I am going to dress for weather. It is better to be comfortable than to have a heat stroke.

I wouldn't let this ruin disney for you and even if you didn't agree with what the people said I would take any disney merchandise that is given to me!! It is like people who get upset because they didn't get a "dream" on their vacation. Disney is something magical and if someone else is going to ruin it for you then they obviously don't get that magic.

Okay climbing off my soapbox now to make room for someone else.
