Dream versus Magic in Europe

Hold it underneath the plate with the same hand holding the plate.

Or you know. Just wait until your're done filling up your plate and get the napkin roll of silverware after.
Or set the napkin roll down on the counter, which frees up one hand to dish the food while the other holds the plate.

We’ll be on the Dream during the first week of July. Walking around the various decks have you noticed any vibration on the aft decks. I’ve seen conflicting reports of vibration. Our stateroom hasn’t been assigned yet so we don’t know where we’ll be. Would like to know just in case.

Thats the thing ln the Fantasy thhey hand it out at the beginning together with your olatr so it means zakgzagging theough the line and evil eyes cause you -skip- the line

Nah, don't eat any of that fancy European food!

Pardon me I'm French so I guess I have a lot of spare time for “fancy European food”.

Nice to see people still judging you whatever you do on this thingy called “the internet”.

This is what I did. Usually forgot to grab some, wasn’t a big deal go go back and get it
Depending on where you're sitting and due to the layout of Cabana's and most importantly of where they have their silverware, it can be a 2-3 minutes roundtrip — and I'm ambulatory.

Like I said before, it would bother me less if at the very least they put some stock near all the drinking stations (after all they're already spaced out), and it would not bother me at all if it was at most a 1-minute round-trip.

Like all ships, you'll feel them most if you are above the thrusters, and it also depends on how the pilot and the captain agrees to enter the ports. We're currently on the opposite, almost all the way forward on deck 5, and we can definitely feel them, though it is not really an inconvenience, just a “how we're on a cruise ship” thing. If you want to mitigate vibrations, it might be better if you get assigned a stateroom in the Mid section.

The vibration concern is mainly at the back of the ship on sea days. The Fantasy has been bad in the past. Supposedly they fixed it but I sailed on her recently and there were still vibrations. Fortunately we were closer to mid ship than to the aft.

That would be great but I'm on a CM fare and we get whatever staterooms are leftover which can be anywhere.
We were on Deck 8, room 8628. We were considered aft, but I didn't feel a thing.
That's good to hear. We've sailed on the Dream before but it was when she was first launched and I don't recall where our stateroom was.

The only difference between the Magic and the Dream going to Europe is that the Magic was smaller and could go to different ports. With the Dream being larger, they won't be able to get into ports like Kirkwall in Scotland, which was such a great port. However, DCL could look at new ports for the larger ship too.
Can the Dream not go to Kirkwall? One of those large Princess ships does, I think they are larger than the Dream.

I still wish Disney would consider bringing over two ships and have one in the Med and one in Northern Europe. I think especially their Northern Europe itineraries haven’t been great for 23-24. If they had longer they’d have more options.

Maybe they'll start doing this once the Treasure joins the fleet. I agree that it seems like the demand could support two ships in Europe.

Been on the Magic in Europe quite a few times and were last on the Italy/Greece cruise last summer. We've only been on the Dream once, over 11 years ago when my kids only 2 and 7 months. Looking forward to being being back for our Northern Europe cruise in August. One of the things we like to do is to when we get back to the ship on port days is to stop by Daisy's Delites on the Magic for fruit- do they have a similar quick serve on the Dream? Do they have shawarma?
Also, where do you stop by on the dream to try to get a Palo Brunch reservation on embarkation day? It's our first time as Platinum and are really hoping to check out Palo this time round.

I assume it's similar to the Fantasy which does not have shawarma. Fillmore's on the pool deck has fruit, salad, sandwiches. I really enjoyed it, got plates of fruit, some quinoa/olive salad, and a veggie panini. We'll be on the Dream for the first time in August for the Fjord cruise.

  • In the Flo's Cafe area on Deck 11, they have a sandwich, salad, fruit quick serve. I think the ones on the Magic/Wonder are better.
  • No shawarma.
  • Probably need to go down to Deck 2 outside of Enchanted Garden (so I've read on the boards) to see about Palo.

When we were on the Magic there last year, we were under the impression that the Dream was too big for the port. Several others since then have said the same thing. Does the Princess use tenders?

I’m not sure, but I know my parents were looking at one of the big Princess ships which did stop at Kirkwall. The port does support tenders according to their website.

Anthem also stopped there when they sailed her on the UK only cruises during the pandemic and I guess she must have used tenders too, since she’s much bigger than both of those ships.

St Petersburg was always the big draw for northern European cruises. Very few cruise lines are offering baltic cruises right now. I could only find a handful of cruises that make the traditional Baltic stops. Demand seems to high for those....but like I said there's only a handful.
I think if DCL would have done a Baltic route minus Russia it would have sold better than what they are currently offereing.

Agree, or even another decent fjords offering. And maybe reduce those eye watering prices a bit.
