Dream a Little Dream: May 8-12, 2011

This will be our 2nd cruise. The 1st one was a fabulous family THanksgiving trip 2009. Due to the expense it was to be our first and last. But now sister out of nowhere announced she was going to get married on the May 8th cruise aboard the new ship! My husband said there were only a few circumstances that would allow us to cruise again and this was one of them.

We recently moved from Atlanta to Pittsburgh and its been a hard move for me. Not a whole lot to be excited about until this. I actually banned myself from this Dislist I was so sad after cruising the first time, knowing we were never coming back. Now I can look forward to almost a year smiling and laughing my way through tip reports and new news about the Dream and scoping out fun wedding ideas for my sister. I feel so selfish, my sisters big day and I keep thinking about all the things I didn't do the first time and will my boy grow 2 inches for the aqua duck and can I loose some weight...

Welcome to our Dream ship.....I always say never say never because you never know:littleangel:. I know it can cost a arm and a leg but it is worth it in my book. That is why we only go every 4 years and go big! As far as growing 2" it should happen I was worried about that a few weeks ago and my son already grew 1.

Congrats on the wedding but it is just fine to make your sisters big day into a grand trip and magical trip for your family. Have fun planning and enjoy the ride. We are big in paper chains and giving the kids extra jobs to do. They get paid for these in Disney Dollars for the trip (my kids will not get to do this until we tell them we are going this time). We set a amount of spending money we want them to be able to spend then take that amount and figure how much a month they will earn. This way we are not spending anymore than what we have planned and the kids want to earn it and they can not spend it before hand! They have a chart to fill out and keep track of what they do! It is a great way to keep them pumped up:yay: and give you a little extra help around the house.:laundy:

Best of luck with your plans.:woohoo:

Yes my boys are the pride and joy of my life and I just can not wait that I have 5 months till I tell them that they are going to Disney world and on the NEW SHIP!!! I can not wait :yay: and I can not wait to see their faces when they open that box up! The waiting is killing me and the only way I can keep my self from not telling them is to plan the trip. I sit here and think about it most of the time. But hey on Friday our airfare should be paid for. Which means one step closer.:woohoo:

Hello Anetnmike,

You're ticker shows one more day than ours,is it right? :confused3

Hi! Yes, mine is right only because we are starting our vacation on May 7th:rolleyes1 We sail the next day. :thumbsup2

Mickyx4 we are also flying from Chicago (out of MDW) ATA has had cheaper airfare but will charge for bags, Southwest has reasonable rates and does not charge for bags. Check Southwest's website for online deals. It's not as painful.

We arrive the day before sailing. Does anyone have a fav place to stay besides WDW? We will be doing the World after the cruise.:yay:

Yes we are coming from chicago and got it for ohare!! I was shocked but it still will be 800.00 round trip but that is what I paid 4 years ago so I guess that is not bad. We are playing on staying at the radisson at port but we are flying out on MAY 3rd! yes 5 days of parks and fun before hand!

Also the limo ride to the airport is cheaper for ohare then mdw since we are not far. Almost a 100.00 dollars less. So it is worth it. I can not get over how fast this trip is coming up. Before you know it the dream will set sail!

i am so excited for you! you sound just like me...my husband thinks i'm crazy! he cant understand how i can be so anxious with it being so far off. So far the best rate i can get from albany ny is about $1000 for the 3 of us. If i go expedia i can get it a bit cheaper but i'm afraid to use them. where are you staying at WDW? I haven't made my arrangements yet for there because i dont know where i want to stay...i'm leaning polynesian, animal kingdom, or wilderness lodge...just not wanting to put out the money but i really want to stay at one of those places.

My husband rolls his eyes when I talk about it.:snooty: He just does not get it. I am so pumped up by this trip I need to talk about it all the time and planning it so important. :grouphug: I do not know where we are staying my sister is part of the dvc and she is taking care of that part for us! I am going to tell her she can give that to the boys for xmas from her.:santa:

But we have alot of little stuff all ready figured out so now it is just paying for it :scared1: and the little stuff. It will all work out. :woohoo:

what a generous christmas gift to her nephews! i'm going to decide this week and book. oh, also, i found great rates for transportation, if you haven't looked into that yet.
did you get an actual room assignment yet. they told me i wouldn't get one until right before the cruise so i was wondering why other people have them? was the booking agent wrong?

Right now I have reservations at the Radisson Resort at the Port. They provide free shuttle service from the hotel to the cruise terminal. The hotel has mixed reviews on trip advisor. This is my first cruise so I don't have any fiirst hand knowledge about this location. The Marriott Residence Inn has very good reviews on trip advisor and also here on the Dis. I keep watching this one for discounts, right now a room in May 2011 is going for about $179/night. The Residence Inn also provides a shuttle to the cruise terminal.

I made my reservation directly through DCL and was able to select the stateroom I wanted.

just found out why i didnt get a room number...the rooms in the category i wanted were all sold at this time; however, i am guaranteed a room in that category or better...whatever better means. there are always a lot of cancellations so i probably wont get bumped up but it means i dont get to choose my room either...oh well, just keep my fingers crossed; i know if it is awful, my husband will never go on another cruise again. i booked a deluxe inside (thought logan, my grandson, would enjoy the virtual porthole) but wouldnt mind a regular porthole either! hey, another thing...do you know if there is a fish extender organized for our trip; if not how do i go about starting one...i think logan would enjoy it as well as the other children:
