Dream 5-Night March 4, 2012

I believe there was around 50-60 cabins. It was a good time. Someone even had bracelets made that had "So long summer of 2009" that was kind of the theme for the crusie. We went the last weel before Labor Day. We received tons of magnets, pirate wear and stuff, some people gave mini first aid kits, glow sticks, plus many more items. We received 5 to 6 deliveries a day. Some people personalized it to the kids and some for the whole family. We just need an organizer and a drop dead cut off date. I think ours was 2 months before the cruise sailed.

I completely agree on the "drop dead cut off date". On our last cruise they had a cut off date for our fe....and I had purchased everything for the fe , no new fe participants at all by the cut off date. Then they ended up adding 4 more familys to the fe AFTER the cut off date. I felt bad but didn't give to the new fe'rs.

I am excited about the FE s. I post on the general board and I finally understand how it works. we have only been on a Holland Am. cruise before and they didn't do that fun stuff.
So, since I am a newbie.....when does the list of participants begin to post?

The kids and I are so excited to go!! What a build up. The nice thing is I know we won't be disaappointed. It is Disney!
How do we know who is a Dis board person ....
in the past how did some of you meet on board?:surfweb:

Hi,
DH, I, and our youngest daughter, on spring break from college, will be joining you. Our second Disney Dream cruise, and we can't wait!

Hello! March 4, 2012 will be our first Disney Cruise! So very excited! What is everyone's tip for first timers? Thanks!

If you have young kids, you can have them wear their swim suits under their clothes when boarding so they can go swim as soon as you are done eating.

Or you can take the swimsuits in your carry on because on the first day, a lot of people will be waiting for their luggage to be delivered to be able to get their suits so the pools won't be as crowded at that time.

What we used to do is just head right for the pool and skipped the lunch and got food at the fast food area by the pool. But now that my kids are older, they don't care about the pools so we go to a sit down lunch.

Hello!
This is my families first cruise! I am so excited and have so many questions but have to head to work! Will start chatting with everyone soon! One quick question......I know I have early dining but how do you know what show time you have? I have DD8 and DD10 and they are not late bedtime kids, very much early to bed, early to rise types. How do I make sure I don't have the latest show time? We just booked from the internet site and I did not find it very user friendly to show options or explain things like that! Should I rebook with Dreams Unlimited or such to have a travel agent help me or do you think I can get all the advice I need here?

Looking forward to planning and getting to know everyone!:yay:

I have used a travel agent and now I book myself, mostly because I like having control of my reservation. If I ever wanted to make a change or anything I would have to wait for the travel agent. When you book yourself you can just call Disney Cruise Line and do everything yourself.

For example, we prefer to have a table for just the 4 of us, rather than share with another family at dinner. So I can just talk to themself about it rather than telling the travel agent who then calls and does it. I'm sure it doesn't matter.....I just like having that control. But this will be our 12th cruise. For our first one I had a travel agent book everything including our flight (which flew in on the same day as the cruise which was awful because we were exhausted...now we get there the day before).

I want to introduce myself and I am excited to get to know all the other cruisers! My family has been to WDW 6 times in the past 5 years so we love all things Disney. We have never been on a cruise and I feel a little intimidated planning this vacation because I have never done it before! Yeah for the disboards because anything and everything can be found here! My family is myself, DH, DD10 and DD8 (by cruise time). I think we will be driving from middle Tennessee for this trip instead of flying, the trade off will be we are going to spend 3 nights at Universal after the cruise. My DD10 has read the entire HP series and is a huge fan, my DD8 has started the first book this summer and is also hooked! We have never been to Universal so this is a trip of all new things for us. I think I would love to participate in the FE group once that is organized. It will be fun passing the time until the cruise chatting with all of you. Can anyone tell me what the usual temps are during the first week of March? Will it be warm enough to do all the water activities at CC? We really want to do the stingray thing. TIA for all the questions I know I will have answered on this board!:goodvibes

From what I have heard lately, there are just 2 shows per night 6:15 & 8:30. If you have main dining, then you attend the 8:30 show.

Weather in March is beautiful, unless you like hot hot weather. We loved the bahamas in March because it was sunny and warm (not hot) and no rain.

Did anyone else read the post about creating a facebook group for our meet on the main dcl thread? Does everyone use facebook and do you think that would be a good idea?

Lisa

Hi everyone!
Lots of people here now with some large groups traveling together! Fun fun fun!
Just checking in. Recently checked our sail dates for a friend and it was sold out! Yikes!

Also ordered supplies yesterday to make my FE gifts! I wasn't sure if we'd participate-as first time cruisers i thought it might be too much to take in! But we'd talked about it so much over dinners that the kids were really looking forward to it.

Yes,yes, it's a little early to start making I know but my Mum is coming to visit from the uk for a month and I thought it would be a fun project to do together while she's here.

I just hope we go ahead and have one now!! If not I will have to just hand things out randomly to passers by!:goodvibes

I am not a very organized person and don't know if I could organize a group. I also have absolutely no idea how to!

Hope you're all having a great summer. Not really started here in Canada. Had air-conditioning on for just 1 day! Actually wearing jeans and a hoodie today! Brrr. Bring on the Bahamas!:cool1:

Wow Fredgirls, that is great that you already bought supplies for FE gifts. I have a coupon for a new fabric store that opened here in California. I think I will go get some material and try to make the FE. I can't wait to start looking for ideas for the gifts.

We didn't participate on our last cruise, so I'm not sure how to organize it either. Maybe someone with experience will chime in. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Ah yes! The actual FE. Hmm forgot about making that one! I've bought some cute applique patches from etsy but now need to find material to match! No doubt I'll be rushing to make it late Feb.! I always start planning too early, lose interest for a bit and then find myself with lots to do at the last minute!

Hi,
Just wanted to see if this group has planned a FE exchange? We would like to participate.
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
No-one has volunteered to start a list yet but, having looked at some threads of how others do it, I think I could take it on.

I'm not much of a social butterfly  so I wouldn't be good at arranging a meet or anything like that, but I think I can gather our info. for those who'd like to participate and manage the list.

Lisardz - you started this thread, so certainly don't want to step on anyones toes, but if no-one else wants to do it then I'd be happy to. Just give me the :thumbsup2 and I'll go ahead.

Don't send your info now though - i'll start another thread and link it to our group once I get your approval to go ahead :goodvibes
Bye for now, Anita

Oh, I would love to join the FE group. I will keep my eyes open for the link to sign up. This is our first Disney cruise, so I will follow anyone who leads :)

I saw online our cruise is sold out... I have a cousin who wants to go too and her family, there is 9 of them. Should they just keep checking to see if anything opens?

I'll be looking for the FE group sign up because our boys REALLY enjoyed that on our last cruise!!!! I feel like the other poster. I was really excited and on the boards everyday when we first booked the cruise. Now I am lucky if I check in every few weeks. I know once the new year hits I will be on here non stop:) I want to get my FE's started though because last cruise I was putting them together until the day before the cruise.
