Drama, Please End...Fun, Please Begin...A Sept TR Updated 10/31

The goal was to get to Soarin and grab a FP, since the park had just recently opened. On the way, we got side tracked.

"We were side tracked"? LOL It was more you telling us we were going to get our picture taken at the character stop...lol.

Regarding breakfast, much of our trip we've had rude people trying to ruin our disney buzz. This time there were a handful of people waiting to go inside for either the scooter tour or breakfast. Not many, maybe 10-15. Well this couple and their small child had one of those jogging type strollers with the bicycle wheel in the front and ran into the back of my mom's legs. Totally avoidable had they given us our personal space but no..they needed to crowd us.

I was really starting to get bummed out on this trip. I have an issue with claustrophobia and the constant bumping of people, being cut off by strollers, and overall rudeness of people made me contemplate not doing this again. However I did meet some really nice people from the DIS boards and it made my trip a bit better. Many thanks to the peeps that I met on the trip.

Day 7 already?! Geez, my trip was almost 2 months ago and I just finished day 2! You sure are putting my TR to shame. Great updates though.

I was AMAZED by the amount of rude people we saw on this trip -- just as you described. I think this country has become a very much "me" society and it is really frustrating. We enjoyed metign all of you.

Great update....I remember you telling us that story and to read about the condition of that medical facility made my skin crawl....remember, I'm the one that puts the remote in a ziploc because it's dirty:lmao::lmao:

Can't wait for the next update!!!!

Sounds like the urgent care place was really icky! I hope that your cousin felt better.. It is not fun to have to seek medical attention away from home.

Your pearls look awesome! I think picking one is on my to do list for the next trip.

Back in 1999, my husband and our three children were at Blizzard Beach. The last "ride" we did was one of the plunges where you lie down and cross your feet, and your arms folded across your chest.

Well, that thing plunged all right!!! I was scared to death as my body slammed back and forth against the edges of the plume. By the time I got to the bottom and "dewedged the bathing suit" :lmao:, I stood up I noticed blood - a lot of it. I climbed out of the water and asked my oldest to look at my arm. My elbow was had a large, open gash in it. The attendant (with some prodding) finally called the first aid station and we were directed there and met with the nurse. Upon accessing the situation in triage', she bandaged it up and reported it needed stitches. They had me fill out a report, and sent me to a specific urgent care center. I "assumed" it would be taken care of (the bill due to the report and told where to go.) NOPE. After waiting 3 hours and a doctor finally showing up, I was stitched and given a bill for over $500.oo!!! They did not take my insurance (the hospital e/r would have). I was fit to be tied. It also ruined the rest of our vacation due to the fact I was unable to swim and we were heading to the ocean the next day.

I highly recommend not going to urgent care if at all possible - just my opinion. I'd rather find the local vet! :rotfl:

Loving your TRs!!! I'm looking forward to the next post. :surfweb:

Yuck! I'm so sorry your cousin wasn't feeling well. The condition of the center sounds atrocious! I hope the next day went better...
SSE is so classically Disney! I love it!

I've never seen an urgent care center as bad as this one before.

I agree, SSE is classic Disney!

Love your pics at Epcot. And I love you and Joe at Spaceship Earth in your "future". I'm sorry your cousin was ill (I don't think I remember you telling me that when we saw each other). That Urgent Care sounds absolutely awful and now I'm curious how visit number two went and how your cousin was.

I hope to have the next post up today. The urgent care place was totally gross. While it was the closest to Disney, if we ever need to go again, we're going to Celebration Hospital. This urgent care stuff was for the birds!

Joe ordered the cookies. Nathan couldn't even describe those correctly. Joe and I also shared some good greek coffee. Nathan was by far the worst waiter I've ever seen. Dude was bad. Even when we jokingly said "we are a greek family...you don't have to explain the dishes", he still explained them, butchering the names. When the checks came out and we did the "dining plan dance" it seemed to perplex him and he said that he'd have to separate it...which he did incorrectly. Then when he brought you your water which you had to wait ten mins for he walked away when you were talking to him.

That dude was horrible. I don't even want to think about him anymore! Believe it or not, I forgot about the whole check screw up thing!

It did get claustrophobic in there at times and the rude people didn't help any. I don't think many people cared about personal space this year, which is not how it's been in the past.

Day 7 already?! Geez, my trip was almost 2 months ago and I just finished day 2! You sure are putting my TR to shame. Great updates though.

:lmao: Once I get on a roll, I can't stop. I'm glad that you're still here!!

I'm glad that we weren't the only ones to notice it this year. I was amazed, just amazed, at the amount of rude people.

Oh Queen, I could just imagine what you'd do if you saw this place! It was gross. I honestly thought about taking pictures but I couldn't do it. :rolleyes1
And I like the idea of putting the remote in a ziploc! ;)

You should pick a pearl! I'm so glad that we started doing that. I am kicking myself for not just having them set while we were at Disney though. I brought them home and I can almost bet it will take me forever in a day to do something with them!

I'm sorry to hear about your arm. :sad2: I can't believe that they didn't take insurance. That's crazy! This craptastic urgent care took insurance but it was totally icky and gross.

I'm with you...next time we'll find a vet. I bet their facilities are cleaner! :rolleyes1 Seriously though, I will never use an urgent care in Orlando again. If we need one, we will go to the ER.

And.....:welcome: to my TR!

Just wanted to say again how sorry I am about Gus... such a handsome boy, I'm sure he was very happy to have you pulling for him. :sad1:

Hey

I am back. Got back from my vacation last Tues night

I read some of your updates over the weekend and some tnite, so my memory is a tad shot

First...very sorry about Gus

That sucks you had such a rude waiter at Kouzinna (sp?) Glad the food was good at least

Your breakfast at Akershus looked good. I agree...it is the land of the pretty people in Norway

Great pics in Character Connection. They have the best backgrounds :thumbsup2

SE is awesome and I think we did that like 3 times this trip

That sounds awful about your cousin. What was name of the Urgent Care you went to? I know there is supposed to be like one really nice one and rest are crappy.

Hope she made out better the next day

I know I missed a ton of stuff and I am sorry, but know I did read it :goodvibes

Thanks. We got his ashes back a couple of days ago, which made me start to cry all over again.

Welcome back from your vacation!

I'm still sad over losing Gus. :sad2:

Nathan at Kouzzina was really, really bad, but we did enjoy our meal at Akershus :wizard:

I'm going to do an update soon so you'll see how we made out at urgent care. I can't remember the name of the one we were at but as you get to crossroads from DTD, you go left and it is just up the street.

Glad that you are still with me! :thumbsup2

Oh yuck on the Urgent Care. I hope your cousin was ok. I als love SSE.

Thanks! SSE is one of my favorites.

We took two cars over to GF and valet parked. There was no way that I was going to chance walking from "east Jesus" and actually making it on time.

We were meeting Chuck and Mary so that we could chat a bit and take a picture of all of us together since we didn't get to do that when we met. We would have looked like drowned rats since we rode Splash together.

Those of us in the car that I drove over decided to check out the shops while we waited for the rest of the family. I was still looking for a dang shirt for pictures the next day and my cousin was checking out dresses and tops.

Disney2010Sony1127.jpg

I did find a shirt and my cousin got herself a bag. I wasn't thrilled with my shirt but I figured what the heck.

We checked in, which took FOREVER at the GFC for some reason and they said that they just needed to bus a table. My cousin and I went over to check in and they did give us what was then named "the Longhorn dingus" aka the buzzer. I laughed when she named it that. She didn't quite know how the system worked at Disney. Sorta funny.

We went over to chat with Chuck and Mary and the CM at the Disney Vacation Club was nice enough to take a picture of all of us.

Disney2010Sony1130.jpg

Chuck and Mary were seated at their table and we continued to wait. Finally, after another 15 minutes or so, we went back to ask about how long it would be. Shortly there after the "Longhorn dingus" went off and we were seated.

We had a lovely table in the back, or so we thought! The table next to us was a family with several children that appeared to have never been taught table manners. They were all over the place. I mean ALL over the place....they were crawling around, standing on their seats, running through the restaurant, and they also came over to our table. The one child was standing on his/her sat and was right on top of my sister's head. It was terrible. I couldn't believe how they were acting but I was determined not to let them spoil our meal. For those of you that read my PTR, you know that I ordered a specialty cake to celebrate our anniversary from GF Bakery.

Our watier was awesome. I wish I wrote his name down because he was one of the top two that we had on this trip. Super nice.

I can't remember who had what, but here are some food pictures. I love the GCF and even with the snafu at check in and the long wait, I'd go there again in a hot minute.

The food was great! We loved it!

We chatted with our CM and let him know that we had a specialty cake in the back. He said that everyone in back "was talking about it" and had commented on how awesome it was. I couldn't wait to see it!

Up next, our specialty cake.......

I debated on what type of cake to get for months. I called GF Bakery and requested a white almond cake with amaretto cream filling, white buttercream frosting and fondant. I asked for flowers in yellow and peach and I wanted it stamped in gold Mickey heads. I was told when I ordered it that they would give me amaretto filling only if someone else had ordered a wedding cake going out the same day. I was a bit bummed since I had give them a second choice. I chose strawberries and cream. The only way I'd know what I ended up with was to call the day before...I didn't call. I figured I'd just be surprised.

After hearing our waiter talk about the artistry on the cake, I was getting excited. He said that most of them are character themed and basic, but this one was much more. We invited him to some cake but he said that they are not allowed to do that. I totally understand but I wanted to offer it to him.

So, here it is ..................

And yes, I somehow ended up with silver Mickey heads and not gold. The sugar flowers were hand made and they were beautiful. I was able to bring them home with me. If I'm honest though, I hate sunflowers. I really wanted roses but it is my own dang fault for not telling them that when I ordered.

We were all wondering what the filling would be. Seems like everyone but me wanted the strawberry filling. Guess who got what they wanted?

ME!!!!!!!!!! Yummy amaretto!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to send cake to Chuck and Mary but they had already finished their meal and had left the restaurant.

My cousin was not on the dining plan so I asked our waiter to bring me the bill for everything not included in the plan, including the cake. We have a TIW card and I let him know.

I was fully expecting to get a separate bill for the cake as the bakery told me no discounts apply. I thought I'd get one for the stuff not on the plan, then a bill for myself and Joe, using the dining plan. Our CM just used 3 TS credits and put my cousin's meal with ours. That was fine, even though it meant we paid for one meal OOP later on in the trip. It still worked out for us. He also gave us the TIW discount on the cake which was awesome because those things can be expensive!!! I appreciated the $30 discount!

So, what do you think of the cake?

Yum......that cake looks really good. I would a slice to have along side my coffee right now.

Looks like you had a good meal. We had awful service at GFC on our trip, and while the food was good DH refused to go back. Too bad, the fries were really good.

I am so glad you got the filling you wanted for the cake. The cake itself is beautiful and it is great that you could get the discount on it.

Frankly I was stunned- it was GORGEOUS! Very, very beautiful!

I hope it tasted lovely too! Congrats on getting that coveted amaretto filling too!! - I know how much you thought about this cake!!

Why can't people train their children to behave at least well enough to not ruin others' meals?? Is it so hard to make them sit for an hour enjoying the company and food around them? UGH!!

Sophia, the cake is absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad you got the filling YOU wanted. I hope it tasted as good as it looked. And good job getting a discount on the cake too! :thumbsup2

What is is with people and letting their kids run all over the place and ruin others meal and time to sit and talk. I just don't get it. If my kids ever did that, they'd be in the other room getting a talking to or taken back to the hotel. There is just NO excuse for it whatsoever. And I blame the parents as much as the kids.

what a fantastic cake? how did it taste? I think i want to get one next year.. but I dont have an anniversary..or bday..or anything.. Maybe just an I love you cake? Although, I'm still hell bent on figuring out how to do a dessert party! Maybe we can get a big group of dissers together and split the cost? Surprise all the significant others with it?

Then again I would also LOVE to do the wishes cruise... ugh, can I please be made of moneys!

Glad you got what you wanted! I crossed my fingers for you!:lovestruc

The cake was awesome! If we knew that you were celebrating that night we would have come over and helped you celebrate. Sorry we missed out on the cake. (Maybe next year we can celebrate together).

The cake tasted awesome! It tasted better than I remember as I got the same flavor last year. I love cake however I have not been able to find one that I really, really like since our local bakery closed. They were in business for over 100 years and after 9/11, business just tanked.

Looks like you had a good meal. We had awful service at GFC on our trip, and while the food was good DH refused to go back. Too bad, the fries were really good.

I wish I had a piece this morning too!

I totally understand how terrible service can make you not want to go to restaurant again. Same thing happened to us at Cali Grille and Joe won't even entertain going back there again.

I am so glad you got the filling you wanted for the cake. The cake itself is beautiful and it is great that you could get the discount on it.

It was so yummy! The cake was pretty but I really don't care for the sunflowers.

Frankly I was stunned- it was GORGEOUS! Very, very beautiful!

The cake was delish and tasted even better than it looked!

I've never seen children like these. They were all over the place. Running into people, climbing on chairs at other tables. It was incredible!

It was so dang good Jenn. I know I will get one next year too. I can't see not getting one every year now...they are so good.

I am scrapping the private dessert party idea. It is ridiculously expensive. I still have all of the menus here and set up fees, etc. I'd do it if we split the cost but from what I saw when I was trying to plan one for this year, with 10 people it was going to be over 1,000.:eek:

I know what you mean about the cruise. We've done 2 so far and this year I didn't spend a lot of time trying to take pictures. I sat back and enjoyed the view and just shot a few.

I'm glad that I got my amaretto filling. :cloud9:

The cake was awesome! If we knew that you were celebrating that night we would have come over and helped you celebrate. Sorry we missed out on the cake. (Maybe next year we can celebrate together).

I wish that you were still in the restaurant. I was kicking myself because I forgot to mention it to you before we all were seated. THere is always next year, right? ;)
