Drama, Please End...Fun, Please Begin...A Sept TR Updated 10/31

K, before I get further in my reading:

Hei-ho Joe is HILARIOUS! I LOLd when I read that.

Sorry you felt sick after dinner :(

And that buffalo bush is the cutest dang bush I've ever seen! I want one! :cutie:

Beka, Jenn's kids think that it's funny when he does that. He did it again when they came to visit. Busted out a couple of them this trip too. He has the kind of voice that carries so "people were pointing" as my friends use to say when we were younger and did something stupid. :rolleyes1

With the loss of Gus this week, I really didn't feel much like writing my TR, but life must go on and maybe getting back to my TR will be a good thing for me.

Our waiter was Nathan at Kouzzina. You should have heard him botch the Greek language. I cringed a bit.

We ordered our drinks and my notes say that someone else brought them over to us. Not even Nathan.

We ordered appetizers too, which were tasty. All of us like avgolemono soup, as it was a staple growing up. He botched that one big time.

Disney2010Sony877.jpg

My brother got dolmathes and mom got spanakopita. I was getting more po'd every time I heard him say the names of these dishes. I think Cat Cora needs to tell her staff how to pronounce these dishes. It frustrates me almost as much as listening to people say gyro. Let's not go there.

Disney2010Sony875.jpg

Disney2010Sony874.jpg

We shared this as well

Disney2010Sony879.jpg

Nathan took our orders and of course, got it wrong when it came to the table so we were handing things back and forth.

Disney2010Sony880.jpg

Disney2010Sony882.jpg

Disney2010Sony883.jpg

Disney2010Sony884.jpg

We also got dessert. Galakomburiko for most of us and loukoumathes for my nephew. Someone got the cookies...I can't remember if it was Joe or my brother.

Disney2010Sony888.jpg

Disney2010Sony891.jpg

Disney2010Sony892.jpg

What really frosted me was his rudeness. Get this, I was talking to the man, asking him a question when he was standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME and he completely ignored me. As in walked away. The restaurant wasn't even crowded. He was extremely rude and totally incompetent!

We were on the dining plan and he even screwed that up. Having to pay the mandatory 18% gratuity due to party sized, frankly, pissed me off. He was the absolute all time worst waiter I have had...ever...period.

Kouzzina is my mom's favorite place to eat. I'm thinking that we will only go back on trips where she's with us. Either that or go for avgolemono soup and dessert only, if that's possible.

It was so bad that Joe actually sent a Tweet to Cat Cora. Not that she reads her own stuff, but it was THAT BAD! Service that is. Food was great!

I was a bit nervous though since we were meeting Queen and Jasmine there a couple of days later for breakfast and I hoped and prayed that good old Nathan didn't work the morning shift!

Ok, rant over.......

After dinner we walked on the Boardwalk a bit and took some pictures. Joe and I also went into the PhotoBooth which was fun. I have those pictures hanging up at work because they actually came out pretty well!

On the way out, we stopped to check out the Boardwalk resort as well.

Disney, Day 6 - Craptastic Stuff/Drama = NATHAN! Oh, and Splash catching on fire.

Disney, Day 6 - Fun Stuff = Getting to go to MK for the parade, Pecos Bill's lunch (it was yummy), spending time with my sister and nephew, avgolemono soup and the photobooth on the Boardwalk

Let's move on to day 7. I was really looking forward to this day. My cousin was flying down to spend the rest of our trip with us.

We started our day bright and early with an ADR at Akershus. I think we drove both cars since Joe and I had planned to go to the airport to get Paula.

I love Epcot in the morning. There were only about 3 people in line when we got there. Even the gates to the gates were closed so I guess we were really early.

Disney2010Sony925.jpg

Disney2010Sony924.jpg

We got in line here behind the three people that were there already.

Disney2010Sony923.jpg

So I have to ask this question. We had an 8:00 ADR and they didn't let us in until 5 to 8. How in the blue he** did they think we'd make it back to Norway in 5 freaking minutes?????

I guess it didn't help that I stopped to take these along the way.

Disney2010Sony947.jpg

I checked us in, got our "Longhorn's dingus" and waited to be called.

Disney2010Sony950.jpg

Disney2010Sony952.jpg

They called our name and we got in line for our photo with Belle. Because there were 6 of us, they gave us two different shots. Here are the craptastic pictures from our camera.

Disney2010Sony953.jpg

Disney2010Sony954.jpg

I'm going to post our Photopass pictures as well, as soon as I upload them.

We found what could be a hidden Mickey...lame one, but could be considered one anyway.

Disney2010Sony955.jpg

Has anyone noticed the flickering lights in that joint? OMG, it was nerve wracking to say the least. The lights flickered non stop and it made me crazy.

Breakfast was good though, as always. I love breakfast at Akhershus.

Disney2010Sony956.jpg

Disney2010Sony957.jpg

The princess interaction was great. Just so happens that the boys were the lucky ones this time to have their pictures taken.

Disney2010Sony958.jpg

Disney2010Sony959.jpg

Disney2010Sony960.jpg

I like this picture of my mom and nephew

Disney2010Sony963.jpg

The "scenery" in Akershus is nice as well. As Joe would say, it's the land of the beautiful people.

We finished our breakfast and made our way back to to Future World. Taking pictures along the way, of course!

The goal was to get to Soarin and grab a FP, since the park had just recently opened. On the way, we got side tracked.

Disney2010Sony988.jpg

We finally made it to Soarin! The wait said 10 minutes, I think. We got in line and seemed to move fast.

Disney2010Sony989.jpg

As we were buckling up, my sister suddenly jumped out of her seat and said that she didn't want to ride. Right behind her went my mom. :lmao: The rest of us rode and loved it! I think it's awesome!

From there we went to Living with the Land. For some reason, it seemed sort of empty to me. Like they just did a major harvest or something.

Not just my kids, *I* think it is hilarious! It is also hilarious when he grabbed stevie and pretneded to be rafiki in lion king:rotfl: we all still lol about that!

Ok, Akershus, I always wondered teh same thing! How in the heck do they expect you to get there SO fast! That is a HIKE!

and I noticed, you got the scary looking Ariel again! The same one we had last year, that has no biz being Ariel!

I love the living with the land pics! I enjoy that attraction!

Why did your sis jump off of soarin?? I don't fly and even I like that ride!

Good morning!

Great updates....you were on a roll! The food at Kouzzina's looks amazing...too bad about Nathan, it makes me crazy when you have a party of 6 or more and it's an automatic 18%...we had that last summer when we went with my sis and her family....I wanted to scream a couple of times, because to me, you should only get a tip if you provide exceptional service....ok my rant over:lmao:

I love that pic of your nephew and your mom....it's beautiful!

I laughed out loud about them running off Soarin' ...

Hope you're feeling a little better...tell Joe we said HI!!!

He does the Rafiki thing a lot too...especially as Stevie gets bigger. I live with a giant dork. :lmao: But I love him.

I love Living with the Land and really enjoyed the tour we did a few years ago. May do it again next year.

Hi there! First, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

The 18% thing killed me because Nathan deserved zero percent! He was really, really bad. We really did like the food though.

I like that picture of Matt and mom too.

It was the funniest thing. They were literally buckling their seatbelts and my sister just said "I can't do this" or something like that and off they went. Apparently, mom said she was "waiting for an excuse" as well. :lmao: They were chicken!

Great updates. Sorry the service at Kouzzina was so bad. Even when the food is good it takes away from the experience when the service sucks.

I am not even Greek and it annoys me when people mispronounce "gyro". My Aunt does it all the time and it annoys me to no end.

I am finally caught up! Joined some time ago, but your TR moves kinda fast. It is well worth reading though, so I am very happy to be caught up. (for the moment :goodvibes)

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard that can be.

All your pictures are amazing!

And as for Nathan... I wonder sometimes when they have the mandatory 18% if the servers don't bother cause they know that they are going to get the 18%

 as you are still dealing with your loss of Gus.

Nathan sounds absolutely awful. I would have had a word with the manager as I left the restaurant and would have put up a stink about the gratuity--he would have gotten nothing from me! Thank goodness the food was good.

I noticed that on The Land as well...it seems kind of bare.

Why would they let you in only five minutes before your breakfast ADR? That makes no sense at all...it's not like it is a close walk.

Love all your photos as always.

All the character pictures turned out great-- especially the one with Pluto!
Augh, poor restaurant service is one of my biggest pet peeves! It's not HARD to be polite/efficient-- and ESPECIALLY when you're getting paid for it!

Oh man, I am so sorry you had to put up with simply crappy service at Kouzzina! I have heard that if your service is really bad you can get the gratuity taken off by speaking to the manager. I don't know if this is true- we've never had to try it, but others have said they've been successful at it.

Great pictures of an empty EPCOT!

Elizabeth, you should have heard this guy. I seriously think that people should be trained before they are set on the floor to work.

I'm glad that you're here. :goodvibes

I miss Gus more and more every day. It's super hard.

Glad you like the pictures. :goodvibes

The mandatory 18% just frosts me to no end. It's ridiculous, especially given the type of service that he provided.

 as you are still dealing with your loss of Gus.

Thanks Kathy. I am still dealing with the loss of Gus and I am having a super hard time.

I don't think that there are words for Nathan. He was horrible. Horrible to the point of me not wanting to go back there horrible. :sad2: Had I not been so angry, I would have requested to speak with the manager. I was afraid of what I might say though...he was THAT BAD.

The Land was more empty than I ever remember seeing it before. :confused3

I guess they think that we can sprint back there or something. It was crazy!

All the character pictures turned out great-- especially the one with Pluto!

Thanks, I am still going through the photopass pictures. I am curious as to how they turned out too.

I think when he ignored me when I was talking to him, that is what sent me over the edge.

Great pictures of an empty EPCOT!

I probably should have talked to a manager, but I was so dang mad.

Thanks. I love getting to the parks with an early ADR so that I can take empty park pics. :goodvibes

Wishes.........

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your castle/fireworks pictures. They look amazing.

Thanks, glad that you like them. Now, if I can figure out how to use my camera the right way!! :lmao:

I left you with us heading over to SSE. We wanted to be close to the entrance of the park so that we could head to the airport to get my cousin on time.

I love SSE. I consider it a must do. Joe and I rode together. I think my nephew wanted to ride this one by himself for some reason.

Disney2010Sony1041.jpg

I follow the rules and don't use flash so my pictures are kinda terrible.

After SSE, we parted ways with the rest of the family and Joe and I headed to the airport. It was my first ride in our rental car since I had been driving my sister's car since we arrived.

Disney2010Sony1100.jpg

Disney2010Sony1106.jpg

We were texting back and forth and our timing was perfect. Just as we were entering airport property, she was on the fake monorail making her way to baggage. I jumped out of the car and told Joe to do laps while I waited for her to get to carousel 2. Turns out that he didn't have to. They let him stay where he was.

My cousin arrived and I could tell by the look on her face that something was wrong. She was in a HUGE amount of pain. Being an EMT, she sorta knows the drill so when she mentioned that she "might" have to go to an urgent care center, I knew that meant that she HAD to go to an urgent care center. I asked her if she wanted to go there now, or later. She said we'd go "later" so we collected her bags and made our way back to EPCOT.

I pretended like I was seeing this for the first time again.

Disney2010Sony1110.jpg

Disney2010Sony1113.jpg

Disney2010Sony1116.jpg

We parked the car and sent the fam a text to see where they were. I got my cousins 4 day hopper and we entered the park. We took photopass pictures when we got there. I will be posting them all at the end of my TR.

We met the family back in Germany.

We got a frankfurter and an apple strudel. I split it with my cousin and asked her how she was doing. She wasn't doing well but wanted to press on. She took a few advil, or was it tylenol, and we pressed on.

We did a bit of shopping in Germany. I got a Steif for my collection and my mom got gummy bears...she is totally addicted to them. Doesn't even share them!

From there we moved on to Japan. I wanted to pick a pearl. Joe picked the shells out for me and we ended up with two of them. One was 7 mm and the other 7 3/4 mm.

Disney2010Sony1117.jpg

Disney2010Sony1119.jpg

Disney2010Sony1123.jpg

We stopped for a funnel cake after that which we all shared. By that time we thought it would be best to go back to the resort, check my cousin in and then head to the nearest ER or Urgent Care Center.

We made our way back to WL first.

Disney2010Sony1103.jpg

We checked my cousin in my mom's room. It's $25 a night to have a guest. I didn't think that was too bad, but I was bummed that you can't add them on and get FD, etc. Eh, whatever. I was glad that she was there with us. The CM at check in gave us a pamphlet of all of the Urgent Care Centers around and told us that the closest was close to DTD.

After dropping her bag, Joe and I put her in the car and off we went....to the grossest place I have ever seen!!!!!!!! Get this! As soon as you walk into the urgent care, there is a rack of potato chips and soda. If you want to buy them you have to go to the desk and the same people that check you in etc are the cashiers as well. How stupid is that?

This place was creepy, to say the least. We called and they said that the next "time slot" was an hour out. We didn't think that was bad so we gave her name over the phone. Once we got there though, the story changed. I totally understand that they have to take people based on their situation. The place was packed when we arrived and no one in the place spoke English. There were people translating for people all over the place which is fine, but it would totally freak me out if the doctor that was taking care of me couldn't communicate directly with me. The doctor's spoke English but you could see the panic on some of the faces of the patients. I felt bad.

My cousin checked in and had to use this filthy computer to answer a bunch of questions. It was totally gross. They said that it would be a couple of hours. We had an ADR at Grand Floridian Cafe that night and I also had a specialty cake waiting. I didn't know if I should have the rest of the family just go and get the cake or what. We waited and waited for her to be called and then finally, she went to the desk and told them that we couldn't wait any longer. :sad2: She decided to make an appointment for the next day and try her luck again. The only problem was, the next day was our anniversary and I didn't have the hear to tell her that Joe and I were planning to spend the afternoon together. Joe and I scrapped our plans and said that we'd bring her back whenever she could get in.

So, we left there and honestly, I felt like I needed a shower. I have never seen a medical facility that filthy in my life.

Next up...did we make it to GFC on time?

Yuck! I'm so sorry your cousin wasn't feeling well. The condition of the center sounds atrocious! I hope the next day went better...
SSE is so classically Disney! I love it!

Love your pics at Epcot. And I love you and Joe at Spaceship Earth in your "future". I'm sorry your cousin was ill (I don't think I remember you telling me that when we saw each other). That Urgent Care sounds absolutely awful and now I'm curious how visit number two went and how your cousin was.

We also got dessert. Galakomburiko for most of us and loukoumathes for my nephew. Someone got the cookies...I can't remember if it was Joe or my brother.

Joe ordered the cookies. Nathan couldn't even describe those correctly. Joe and I also shared some good greek coffee. Nathan was by far the worst waiter I've ever seen. Dude was bad. Even when we jokingly said "we are a greek family...you don't have to explain the dishes", he still explained them, butchering the names. When the checks came out and we did the "dining plan dance" it seemed to perplex him and he said that he'd have to separate it...which he did incorrectly. Then when he brought you your water which you had to wait ten mins for he walked away when you were talking to him.
