We will be at Fort Wilderness from 2/13/09-2/21/09. Is the stroller available? This is the first time swapping for me so might need some guidance....

I don't mind handling it. We arrive on the 20th. My only concern is we will not have car to drive this to a UPS drop off. It will need to be picked up. Please provide the number for me to call for pickup.

I will pack a phillips head screwdriver and some packing tape to seal the old box. It'd be a pleasure to help the group.

Thanks,
Yo

We need the stroller 3/21-3/28. If there is a gap in time I am willing to pay for shipping to my house. We will be driving from NY. I will also pay shipping back to original owner if no one is around after me. Please let me know. This is my first trip to Disney in 21 years:cheer2: ! We have two dd's 1 and 5. Our current ressie is for POP but may change. Thank you.

I asked on the resorts board, and they say Fedex and UPS pick up daily. so, the front desk or concierge (or the gift shop as last resort) will be able to help it get shipped back out.
I am waiting on response from the manufacturer to get details about its shipping to BW. If they do not provide a shipping label, the resort can help you get it shipped out and then if you could pay to have it shipped back then let me know the cost to have it shipped, I will reimburse you. It should be around 32 or so. Would that be okay with you?

good morning. no update yet on a new stroller...until then I am not allowing new people to join. we will have to wait and see how it goes.

I'm not mad or trying to be snotty but I won't be able to spend half a day doing this. My wife has a very detailed itinerary and she doesn't even know about the stroller issues yet. Did I mention we're traveling with a "Grand Gathering" of 22 people.

Please try to have the logistics handled prior to me leaving on our trip.

Has anyone ever calculated the per hour rate while at Disney? It's truly staggering. I never had either, up until this trip.

These are ballpark #'s for 11 days(264 hours)
airfare for(5) $1400
lodging $2000(estimated using DVC costs)
tickets $1100(pro-rated for annual pass)
dining plan $1375+tipping
misc $1100

...........or about $26.50 per hour.... I will pick up and disassemble the broken one...assemble the new one...and drop the return box with the concierge/front desk. That's it. I can't sit and wait for FED EX or UPS in a lobby and as for the outgoing freight please try to have the shipping label ready since if it's not I'll have to go to the shipping location and fill out all of the paperwork etc.....@$26.50 per hour.....and with 22 people waiting for me....no thanks.

I truly hope this works out, RainyDaize has worked so hard and I have no problem doing this if most of the leg work is laid out for me. Goodluck and keep me posted.

Driving home now. So sad. Well our condo was smaller than expected and that made it hard with 4 adults, a dog and two kids. But we dealt. On the bright side it was right near a new wal mart so we got everything we had forgotten. And if you need any Disney shirts or stuffed toys or sweatshirts you can hit a wal mart down here!

The stroller was great to have. The baby slept in it often and the 4 year old liked having it available as well. We used the sun shade every day and took the rain shade but didn't use it. The sun shade covered the baby nicely but did make it harder for the 4 year old to see out.
The wheel is definitely a problem. It is not the tire but the place where the tire attaches to the stroller. We believe that it is a poor design. It is going to become a problem on a new stroller as well if not handled with care. Since we have never used a jogging stroller this could be an issue on all of them for all we know. It will sometimes spin around sideways or turn a way you don't want it to. If you try to power through that pushing with all your might it just breaks the joint loose. Instead you have to gently let the stroller turn in the way it wants to go until it will go where you want it to go. This is a pain in a crowded park. The weld was broken when we received and we put some epoxy on it and tightened it but it can only go so tight or it won't spin at all. You can also lift the front end up and let the wheel fall into place.

We also had trouble sometimes folding it up. If this happens it is sticking in the middle between the two seats. Just grab it and help the bar come up.

The seat covers cannot be machine washed so I just took a rag with some detergent on it and wiped it all down.
We used a sheet protector on the handlebar and left it there for the next family but I didn't see many other strollers like that one.

At mk it is definitely too wide for the gates. We had cm's tell me to try three other gates but with no luck. So we popped the wheel off each time. It fit everywhere else with the exception of a few doors of course.

Thanks rainy daze for organizing. It was great to have the stroller and I definitely could not have done it without it. Please do not think I was complaining above, just filling everyone in on what to expect and how to handle.

Again thanks for everything you have done. The stroller was a necessity for us and a rental would never have sufficed with an infant.

That is all my thumbs can take right now. More later!

Ps the stroller is awaiting mayjay at her hotel.

my understanding is that you take it to the concierge and they will ship it out for you. You may have to fill out a shipping form, but I will supply you the address it goes to once I have it. Should not take more than 15 minutes at the front desk or concierge desk to do it. You would not have to go to a shipping center to do it.
A call to the concierge desk will tell you if it is the front desk, the concierge or the gift shop who can do it for you. I have had things shipped home from the gift shop before. They base it on dimensions of the box.
If I haven't received a return shipping label, are you willing to do this? I cannot run the risk of having to pay for a second stroller, that isn't even mine.

Driving home now. So sad.

Welcome home doxxie!! I know it is sad to come back. I'm not coming on here near as much now that I don't really have anything to plan for a while.

It really stinks that the front wheel isn't working properly. I don't remember really having a hard time with it - except for what you noted about it sometimes being hard to get it going the direction you wanted if it was turned. :confused3

I can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Ps the stroller is awaiting mayjay at her hotel.

Thanks so much. My parents should be arriving tomorrow OR Friday AM. I get in Friday afternoon.

Glad to see that YoMickey will handle the shipping, as I'm staying off-site.

I am a bit concerned about the ease of use though, but I'll deal...it's $15 not $150, right? I'll just print off Doxxie's instructions so I know what to do. ALthough I'm sure Dad can figure it out. :worship:

Kids are super excited...we're all packed except for some essentials that need to be washed tomorrow, and the toiletries, and then we're off Friday morning.

It's cold and dreary here (Canada) right now, so I can't wait for the predicted sunshine of next week in Florida.

Thanks for this, and I'll try to keep in touch while I'm down there. I'll drop the stroller off for YoMickey on Wednesday the 19th in the late afternoon.

Mayjay

Hey Doxxie-I am sorry your trip is over, it is sad to have to leave Disney.
I can't wait to hear more though, and I thank you again for everything you did. I got the pics and forwarded them.

Mayjay-YoMickey and I are working out the new stroller arriving. Doxxie, do you think it will hold up for her for the trip? It just needs to survive a few more days of use.

YoMickey- I have been told the stroller will ship today or tomorrow. So it will be there for you. As for return I am waiting on a ship label, if I don't get one from the manufacturer, I will get instructions and hope to go to UPS here and get a label to send to you to use. Will that work?
Once I get a label, I will send it to you at the hotel, you will just have to pack it in the box, tape it up, label it, drop it down at the desk and they will be sure it gets shipped out.
It will not take much time from you, it should be very simple. At least it sounds that way--I am trying to get it all set up for you to be as easy as possible. I appreciate you doing this.
After I get the tracking # for the stroller going to BW I will send you that so you have it for your arrival as well. I think you can call the hotel and let them know a package was shipped to you give them the tracking # and they wull note it on your reservation so when you arrive they can get it for you faster.
That part I cannot do, because they won't talk to me about your reservation. But within 5 days of arrival the front desk will have your res in the system. So you just need to call BW, ask for the fornt desk tell them you have a request to be noted for your arrival and give them the tracking # of the package so they can link it for you.

YoMickey- I have sent you a PM and an email. I think I have this worked out for you.

Attn swappers--an update:
Our stroller has had some issues so we are having it replaced under warranty.
the new stroller is shipping to BWV to YoMickey going out today or tomorrow. It will be there for your arrival. YoMickey will put the new one together and box up the old one and have it shipped back to me so the manufacturer will have it picked up--they have to have it picked up where it was originally sent. :confused3

So unfortunately I have to pay to have it shipped from Disney back to me, but at least they are replacing it. :wizard:

I am sending a shipping label to YoMickey to have it shipped back out by Fedex. So it sounds like this will work out I just wanted everyone to be aware what is happening so we are all on the same page.

Hopefully, the new one holds up and has no tire issues or tears.

Everyone please handle it with care. If it was a flaw design lets hope this one was built on a different day and doesn't get the same flaw.

If we get 3 new swappers, I will be collecting $15 from each of them to make up for the additional cost I have incurred shipping.

RD,

I've PM'd and replied to your e-mail. I have my screwdriver and some tape packed. Ready to Wrench!

I just got your fax. Thanks. Just to be safe, mail me a hard copy since the faxed one was just slightly faded.

I will maybe take a few little brackets and screws to see if there's any reinforcements/improvements I could easily make to this thing.:genie:

Who was the mfg and model number again. Maybe I'll stop by the local babies R us to see what'll I'll be dealing with

I will mail it out today.
It is an Instep 11AR800

I found the link in case anyone else wants to see how to care for and properly use the stroller. Please abide by the weight limits and take care of this thing for future swappers.

Thanks,

Swappers:
please read the information in the link posted here by YoMickey. It is the brochure that comes with the stroller and has all the information needed to care for the stroller properly--handling, cleaning, etc.
If your child(ren) do not meet the weight requirements, please do not ask to be in this swap. The weight limit is listed for a reason. Also, if transporting or using the stroller in any way might be too difficult for you to do, please do not ask to participate.
It is NOT an umbrella stroller, it is heavier and bulkier.
It is also very handy and should be proving to be more durable.
Please treat the stroller with respect.
I will not be responsible for replacing the new stroller should anything happen.
If something happens and a new one needs to be purchased, a new swap would need to be started.
I have done well more than my part to try to make this as affordable and accomodating for all participating.
Due to the issues it is having I am having it replaced under warranty(with major help from YoMickey--thank you and the help Doxxie provided by taking pictures and sending them to me, so the manufacturer would replace it).
Though having it replaced involves shipping it down, having it put together, having the old one shipped back to me to be shipped back to the manufacturer. It takes time.
I am asking everyone to respect that this swap is happening and still going because behind the scenes there are a few of us making it happen.
As for the current stroller, I hope it holds up to get Mayjay through her trip---i am sorry we couldn't get it down there sooner.

I ask that everyone keep us informed upon your return as to the status of the stroller so everyone knows what is going on.

Thank you!

Rainy and Yo,

Thank you so much for fixing the stroller situation. We appreciate the extra effort that you are going through so that we can all enjoy the stroller. I have read the manual and will take good care of it on our turn in December.

Doxxie--thank you for the update. I am sorry you had to deal with the problems--but I thank you for contacting me right away and all the pics. Any thoughts as to what would have damaged the part where the tire connects? Could it be from banging it into stuff--could that have broke it? The reviews on the stroller had been decent enough, I am surprised it broke so quickly.

Hey all,

I will forward to my hubby and let him update on his thoughts since he is the one that fixed it every time. He said if he had his welder with him he could have fixed this one, but...

Yo - maybe that will give you the info you need to know what to take. There is a little wrench included with the stroller for assembly. We also found the user manual online and it told us what else to take. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got the JB Weld stuff. He said there was another kind that is putty and maybe we should have used that but we had to get what they had.

There was some confusion over the weight limit as some places had it listed as 150 but I firmly believe it's 50 pounds per seat and do not know how it could hold much more. My son is about 43 pounds, 45 inches and when he sat in it the middle fabric would pull to his side (vs. the 8 month old). So if two kids his size were in it I could see where there would be some pulling on that seam. Also, he is tall (for his age) and the canopy would touch his head when it was out, especially with the sunshade on it due to the elastic that uses.

I will post up some photos here in a bit. Mayjay - I wrote down some notes for you and left it with the stroller, assuming they are still there.

I think the stroller will make it through another swapper. You just have to be patient and go with it or pick the front up (which is what I did). Also remember, I am not at all used to a jogging stroller and this could have just annoyed me so bad because that's the way they work - I don't know. If you are used to a jogging stroller you may have a leg up on me.

More in a bit. DS is calling.
