Okay, I'm even beyond the pics. I have read it several times and looked at the pics and still have NO idea what the heck it is I am to do. So, can these be bought anywhere? When all else fails, charge it, lol.

I just started reading yesterday and I'm not caught up yet, but I had to comment about how much I love this TR! Your description of the Animation Studios is great and the pics were so cool. We haven't done this yet in our 3 trips to DHS, but we'll be there on Jan. 22nd and I can't wait for my DH and DD7 to try this. They both love to draw. Plus, the added bonus of getting to see Bolt seals the deal.

We stayed in Windsor Hills last year in a condo and loved it. I would stay there again, but my cousin offered to let us stay with them and they only live about 20 minutes away. Since this is a budget trip for us, a return to Windsor Hills will have to wait.

Ok, back to reading.

If I had friends who lived that close to WDW, I would so be staying with them as then I wouldn't have to choose between going elsewhere and Disney. I could do both every year!

I've never seen them anywhere. I may have to try them again. I'm bound and determined to get them right and Donald LOVED the ones we made and wears them all the time. He has two. So I can't imagine if we got it right and didn't have to use a bleach pen to make our Mickeys how much he would love them.

Ok, I'm all caught up now and so in the mood to be at Disney World right this minute!

Just a note about BATB v. Indy at DHS. I have B/G twins, age 7 and BOTH of them preferred the Beauty and the Beast Show over Indy . My ds loves LMA, but the Indy show just didn't hold his attention. So all you moms of boys, don't despair...they might actually enjoy BATB if you can get them there. :goodvibes

I bought all the supplies for the tie-dye Mickey shirts for trip last year and have been too afraid to attempt them. I think the bleach pen is a great idea.

I'm almost ALWAYS in the mood to be in Disney. Last night Donald and I were watching the Steelers beat the Chargers (we are Ohioans and therefore quite anti-Pittsburgh.) But about halfway through the third quarter Donald says, "I don't feel sorry for those Chargers at all. They live in SAN DIEGO! Tomorrow they'll be like, oh, I'm so sad we lost. I think I'll go outside and lay around in the 80 degree weather and mope." :lmao:

And I had a nightmare/good dream last night about Disney. Donald and I were laying at the Poly pool with froo-froo drinks soaking in the sun and a CM came running at us and said, "What are you doing here? You don't have rooms here!" and we both got up and took off running so we wouldn't get caught. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We might be a little bitter about being in the cold and snow.

But back to you, you should at least try the tye-dye thing. It's fun even if it doesn't work!

Team Suzy got home at 3:45 and Team Donald at 4:15. And we were supposed to leave for MK at 4:30. So it was a rush. But Donald said he was just pooped and volunteered to keep Boo. I was a-OK with that as I could just go and have a blast with my big girls. We were supposed to eat dinner at home before we left but with having only 15 minutes between arriving and leaving again, my girls forgot to eat anything.

We took the boat over:

CIMG3643.jpg

So we got to MK and rushed to Space to see how long the standby line was. It was 5:00 p.m. The standby was 45 minutes and the FP return time was 6:05. So that seemed like a no brainer. We grabbed FP’s. But McQueen was beyond sad we didn’t just hop on Space Mt. We consoled him while we waited to see Laugh Floor. It was Milo’s first time and I was really hoping he would be “that Guy” as he would have made a great “that guy” but no such luck.

Ever noticed this little touch in the holding room?
CIMG3648.jpg

After this some needed a potty break and I took the opportunity to buy ice cream. When McQueen came out of the potty he said in a whiny voice, “Hey, where’s my ice cream?” and with pleasure I handed him a hot fudge sundae. There is just something about ice cream that puts people in a good mood. The strawberry we got was really yummy too but I didn’t get nearly enough as it was time to ride Space Mt. So with great sadness I handed over all the ice cream to Suzy and Jack-Jack and we hopped into our space shuttle.

This was our fastest FP line by far. It just moved super quick. Plus the lady behind us was freaking out as she hates any thrill rides and her family had told her this wouldn’t be too bad. So she asked our opinion. I kept reassuring her that it wasn’t that bad and it was more about the dark than being a rollercoaster. She got on the car behind us. And I was very glad I never saw her again. As the entire time I was riding I was a little worried about her. I’m a huge rollercoaster person and to me Space Mt. is hardly a coaster at all. But as I rode it this time, seeing it through someone else’s eyes, I realized that it is indeed a roller coaster and she probably couldn’t breath and was swearing up a storm at the lady who told her it would all be fine. The lady in a very conspicuous tye-dye shirt. Good thing it was dark and we were outta there quick.

The other thing I just want to mention is being launched. Is it just me or do you all count as this ride starts? You know how it says 20 seconds, 10 seconds, and then you are launched? Am I the only one who counts down to make sure it really is 20 seconds? I do it every time I ride it. And it is ALWAYS 20 seconds.

So by this time it was 6:30 and we needed to get settled for Spectro. Suzy and the rest rode again and Milo and I set up shop in a pretty good space. We weren’t right on the curb, we were 2nd row. But with our two giant strollers and the big blanket I put down on the ground we were protecting the people who did have the curb so they were nice and our kids basically had a front row view.

I needed to grab some food for my kids and asked Milo what I should get for his kids. He said they wouldn’t like Casey’s and weren’t hungry so not to get them anything. But I didn’t really believe him so I grabbed some stuff for them anyway. Even still when they all got back he had to go stand in the Casey’s line himself. Oops.

For me my Casey’s line was a nice little time. There was a guy next to me from NYC who had a timeshare and had come to WDW the week after Thanksgiving for years and years. He said it was twice as crowded as he had ever seen it. So we discussed possible causes for this shift, the economy or Disney’s marketing, etc. I love New Yorkers and we just had a great time. Before I knew it I was ordering fries and corndogs and a hotdog. This was my first time in Casey’s and I liked it very much.

I arrived back at the seats with 10 minutes to spare and McQueen took one look at my food and said, “Hey, where’s my French fries?” And it was with great pleasure that I handed him his own thing of fries. And looked back at Milo who said, “Yes, yes, you were right.” It takes a big man to admit that without prompting!

Ah, Spectro. Such a delightful parade. Two things of note. One is we were able to let a few kids whose parent’s got them there late sit with us and therefore have excellent seats. The parents were grateful and the kids adorable. That made me very happy.

Second, this big scary vampire thing got stuck in front of us. On it’s own it would not have been that scary. But the scary music just lasted too long and all the little ones really were terrified.

CIMG3659.jpg

At the end of the parade we packed up our spot and moved to the street to watch Wishes. Two things of note here too. First, after we were all set with a great view this tall guy with a giant, professional camera stood right in front of me and blocked my view. I was really irritated by that but now I wish desperately I could find his photos on line because mine stink. Second, a dad had his son on his shoulders and his kid suddenly kicked out his foot to readjust his seat and kicked the lady next to him in the nose, which promptly bloody her nose. It must have seriously hurt. But unlike our Sprite incident at Fantasmic this lady simply said, “It’s OK honey, I’m fine.” You have got to be kidding me? We get a guy a little wet and he has a big fit and she gets a bloodied nose and says it’s OK? Our kids always choose uptight people to have accidents with. Suzy's comment was simply, “Better that dad than us.”

Wishes viewing is always a little insane. As is exiting post-Wishes. People were fairly orderly, though. Normally I cry during all WDW fireworks but perhaps because of the mayhem around me this day I didn’t. But as we exited I said outloud, “Goodbye Magic Kingdom, “ as it would be my family’s last day here. THAT made me cry big time.

When we got off the monorail to the tram line which was forming we looked into the strollers and realized we would never be able to get all the sleeping children out and the strollers folded. We were gonna have to walk. Which is a bad walk anyway, made worse by me forcing Suzy, who knew better, to go the wrong way. We ended up in the taxi cab area. Just typing it makes me giggle so I’m going to take a side trip down memory lane.

Suzy and I have been to many countries, Mexico, Israel, Belize, France, etc. And this little taxi cab area reminded us very much of a third world country with beggars everywhere calling out to you and trying to get you to choose their wares. It was a stark reminder of where we were, Fantasyland. And highly amusing as we hightailed it out of there. Not sure who takes taxis from MK but the area is to the right of the trams and not at all magical. Oops! Good thing Milo and Suzy have good senses of humor and were like, “PERLA! Where have you taken us? Why are we suddenly in a foreign marketplace?”

Here we are on the right pathway. We walked maybe a mile. We were in Pluto 26 if that helps you. I think it is just behind the second row of trees, if you know your MK parking lots well.

CIMG3676.jpg

We drove home, the kids rushed into bed, and we watched the new Top Chef together. Good thing I was prepped by watching all the other Top Chefs.

What a fun end to the day.
And at the time I was reading your TR I was listening to Wishes music in the background, :smickey: I did not plan that, it just happened.
Last day at MK :sad2: Anxious to see which parks you spent the rest of your time at then.

We are planning our first SpectroMagic for this trip. Unfortunately, they are only showing it twice a week and we are going to see it MLK Monday. I hope its not mobbed, but I really do want to finally see it. My kids are early to bed types, so we haven't done a lot at night time yet. It's nice that the kids are a little older and want to do big kid stuff.

The lady was so nice about the nose incident! I'd like to think I would have been that kind, but I'm not so sure. :confused3

Great update.

Ahh, I meant to buy a WDW CD this time while down there and forgot. We aren't really the wandering shopping types (obviously! ;) ) so I would never just come across it, I would have to plan to buy it and I forgot! I should have put it on the itinerary. :lmao: "Day 5, 11:17 a.m. Buy WDW CD." :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It will be mobbed. But that is OK. It's worth it. I've only done it twice now. Last time I sat down an hour early and had the sweetest couple from Costa Rica next to me and just chitchatted and relaxed. This year was equally nice.

And they run a ton of buses/monorails/boats/trams at this time of night so it almost is faster than leaving at 4:00 p.m. when the transportation is spaced 20 min or so.

As for sleepy kids, last year Mulan slept through the entire night time festivities. So this year she was just determined not to miss anything. If they fall asleep in their stroller, they fall asleep. That is my feeling and I prepare my kids for that possibility so they aren't too disappointed the next morning when they wake up and realize they've missed it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your TR. SOunds like you all had a wonderful time together.

We went this past July w/ 2 other families (my twin and her family and cousin and her family). The babies stayed with the grandparents at home so there were 8 kids and 6 adults. It definitely was a challenge but a fun filled time.

We are going again for Thanksgiving (and DS 11th bday) so your TR gives me some great insight.

BTW, what did you think about the infor from TGM? We went 4th of July and never stood in more than a 10 min line. I always wonder if it's because of the advice from TGM or that I pretty much memorized every Disney fact out there!

Looking forward to the rest of your days

Just realized I never answered you. Sorry!

Tour Guide Mike and I have a love hate relationship. Well, he doesn't know about it. I think his which days to visit the parks is a wonderful, wonderful tool. It is worth my money just for that. And we followed it every time. The hate part comes in that I think his website is setup so goofy and confusing. You'll find an interesting little tidbit of info and then never be able to find it again. I just wish it were different. But he'll never change it because I'll keep paying him anyway and money talks.

Your fuzzy pics remind me of mine, lol. I got a new camera for xmas and I'm really hoping and crossing my fingers that this year will be the year I actually get fireworks pictures.

So funny story, my boys who, at 12 and 15, are too old to carry on and act like toddlers, had a knock-down, drag-out over the last can of coke in the fridge today after school and guess what I said???

You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!!!

I couldn't believe that was the first thing to come to mind, lol. I said it and cracked up and my boys thought I was nuts. I think that little saying is going to be quite useful.

Too funny about TGM. I basically think the same thing. What I do now is right click anything I want to read and pick "open in new window" and then I just close that window to stay in one place. I just get too darn turned around otherwise.

We followed his advise to the letter for our xmas to new year's trip a few years back as it was the most dreadfully crowded time and it did work but I really hate that he doesn't recommend the EMH, especially the nighttime hours. My boys are nightowls and they've already said that on our upcoming trip, they will not be setting an alarm and going with us for rope drop. They would close every park down though. That is the joy of having older kids and staying on property at least (I have an almost 20 yr old as well as the 12 and 15). We'll probably just meet up for meals.

I say it ALL the time to my girls. Here's another one that Ariel picked up somewhere that we say all the time: easy-peasy lemon-squeezy. She made it up (or randomly heard it somewhere) when she was like 4 and we say it when someone is struggling with something (like opening a jar) and then you come over and do it right away.

"Easy-peesy, lemon-squeezy."

Say that to your 15 year old and think how nuts he'll think you are then!!!!!!!!

Here is a picture of McQueen on our way to MK that evening.

This was the only night that Spectro and Wishes was going on the week we were there due to MVMCP. So it was packed. Perla was downplaying the crowd but it was hard for me. I am a pretty introverted person and like my space so I had a hard time standing shoulder to shoulder overlooking other people's heads to see the parade. But I love this parade and fireworks so it was worth it, just not as "magical" as previous times.

Not to mention we were all tired because aside from Perla, the rest of us had been at Future World bright and early that morning.

After a long day...... (another reason we have strollers for our 8yos., we push them pretty hard)

This will be our first year without strollers! :scared1: I've already told the kids to let me know when they are tired and we will sit down and take a break. My ds7 is really just too big for one (Tall and 80lbs., takes after his very tall father). The two of them were so squished last year in one of Disney's double strollers. Plus, with the price increase, I decided it was time for us to make the leap to walking all day.

As for the parade, I think I'll try to watch it from Frontier Land (you know where those big planter type things are?). We watched a PP&P parade from there (our only nighttime experience so far) and it was a good place to be. I'm with Suzy that I don't like hanging with the crowds so much. :goodvibes

You'll be fine. Our big kids could have handled walking. It's just that when Perla and I are on a mission we would rather put everyone in a stroller and walk without having to slow down. But our 8 yos are both only 50+ lbs so they still fit (well barely).:)

Last night we were watching AFV that I had recorded and they had one of their Disney commercials. McQueen was snuggling with me during the show and he says, "I can't believe that happened to us, can you?" "What, Disney World?" "Yea" "It was fun, wasn't it" And then he gave me a big hug and said,"Thanks Mom":cloud9:

Everyone together now- AWWWWWWWWW!

I've already warned my girls that next time we go they will be walking. But we like to walk as a family in the summer and I think before we go I'll just kick it up a notch and have them run. Charming runs some and had no problem keeping up so they should be fine. But we will have to be careful about the early morning, late night business.
