I'm going to Disneyland Paris with some friends in a couple months. None of us speak French - can we get around the parks? Do cast members speak English? Should we still watch shows?

Don't worry - all cast members will speak good English. A little bit of French will never go wrong, bonjour, merci, s'il vous plait etc just to show courtesy.
As for the shows, some have versions in different languages (Stitch, Armageddon, off the top of my head)
Others have headsets where you can choose your language, and last year the main Mickey's Magical Party Show repeated the lines in French, English, German and I think Spanish as well. I'd imagine this year's show will be similar.
I think Disney have done a great job of dealing with the obvious language problem posed by being in Europe. I have never felt at a disadvantage due to my rubbish grasp of French!

I don't speak French either, have never had any trouble understanding at DLP. Most of the CMs speak and understand English very well :). The shows are usually all English or a mix of English and French, but the mix is very charming to hear.

I couldn;t agree more, we've never had any problems :goodvibes

Yes, again, never had a problem at any of the hotels etc.

All of the characters that we encountered spoke/understood English.
I don't know... It might be kinda cool to here Belle speaking French! Talk about authentic!

We were so impressed with the CMs at Newport Bay (is that the right name? It's been a year.) Anyway, it seemed like every CM spoke at least 3 languages. The only CMs in the park I noticed who seemed to speak French only were some of the custodial crew.
BTW, don't make my mistake. I walked up to a CM at a soda stand, and immediately asked for what I wanted. As soon as I saw his face, I realized I should have started with a "Bonjour!" Good manners make a difference.
Have a great trip!

I totally agree with the above, and I found that bonjour, s'il vous plais, merci really do go a long way, especially if spoken by a cute 6yr old!!!

I do think some people get a bit nervous when speaking to the CMs, in case they are not understood, and sometimes rush straight in with what they want, forgetting basic manners!!

But on the reverse, it's a bit gutting when you practice 'please can I have a table for four' in your bestest french and get answered in English, with a pitying look!!!:lmao:

Don't worry, you'll be just fine. Most things are either in English as well as French and almost all CM speak English.
Like others have said, a few words for good manners are enough as well as maybe learning your numbers up to 10 for ride queues.
